The Warden, Hawke or The Inquisitor?

Who is your favourite and least favourite? and why?

Most Favourite- The Warden

I loved the origins we had at the start of the game really fleshed out the wardens back story, also loved the fact that there was so many different play styles we could choose from do you want to be the good guy? the Witty one? only in it for profit? the ends justify the means? "evil" guy? the flirt? loved the variety we had in origins.

Least Favourite - The Inquisitor

Lack of any backstory when it was sorely needed and the dialogue options were very mute when compared to Hawkes and the wardens (the irony). There also wasn't much opportunity to showcase your inquisitors personality it just felt as if you were asking questions 24/7. The agressive options in inquisition aren't aggressive at all they were somewhat passive. Very bland.

2) Inquisitor

3) Warden

I think.

Hawke felt the most like a person. I liked my Wardens but never that blank stare.

Warden> Inquisitor> Hawke

There's just something special and a lot more heroic about the Warden to me. The inquisitor is also great, but they seem more pushed towards the goal and story rather than being completely heroic. Hawke was great, but appears to be a lot less relevant when you take into account their role in DAI.

I really can't pick. The Warden is special to me in the same way Ocarina of Time is - sure, I like Twilight Princess a lot more, but my gut reaction to "best Zelda game ever" is always Ocarina.

I loved my Hawke, but at the moment I'm still heavily invested in the Inquistor's story. Maybe once all the DA:I dlc comes out, I'll be able to pick between them.

Though some of that is probably fairly random - my City Elf Warden just totally clicked for me, and so did my US Cousland. It's totally possible to play an extremely boring Warden, quite a few playthroughs are like that for me.

Hawke is annoyingly useless at stuff that isn't killing, and they're not "mine" in the same way the Warden is. But I still ended up caring for them a fair bit.

The Inquisitor just tends to seem a bit bland to me. Maybe I'll get a playthrough that "clicks" later. Probably doesn't help that none of the romances so far have quite done it for me - I like Josephine, but it just lacks a big emotional moment.

your warden maybe but DA:O had soo many RP opportunities (especially with the Origin stories and numerous dialouge choices)

that my warden was definitely not an empty shell

hmmm this is a tough one, it's difficult to choose between the Inquisitor & Hawke, but for now I think it goes

  1. Hawke
  2. Inquisitor
  3. Warden

I'm not a huge fan of the silent protagonist, I can never connect to them properly, which is why the Warden is my least favourite, even though I still like her/him.

Hawke beats out the Inquisitor for the moment because, after so many playthroughs I became very close to Hawke.

I'm really enjoying being the Inquisitor so after some story DLC or more playthroughs I might change my mind.

Inquisitor

The Inquisitor was by far the most Generic playable character I have played in a long time. Granted the Warden is the same, but he had the option to be a real dick. Hawke was also very sarcastic

For combat I'd say:

  1. Warden
  2. Inquisitor
  3. Hawke

The Mark would have to kill dragons outright for the Inquisitor to top my favorite Warden: a female noble Rogue who could pick enemies apart at a distance and slaughter fools with her dual longswords if they got too close.

But for everything else:

  1. Inquisitor
  2. Hawke
  3. Warden

It's mainly for the voices.  I've got a very dry sense of humor; Alix as the Inquisitor and Jo as Hawke hit some sarcastic lines perfectly.  While reading some responses the Warden could give made me chuckle, it's not the same thing as hearing them.

Hawke

imo The problem with DA2 wasn't Hawke. I know some didn't like PLAYING a ROLE given to them, but the approach is as valid as any for a role playing game. Hawke was a tremendous character and performances. Sometimes you can affect the world, most of the time all you have is how you handled yourself. I loved the heart of DA2's story.

Its close between Hawke and the Warden but...

1.Hawke

2.Warden

3.Inquisitor

Because they tried so hard to merge DA2 and DA:O together, Inquisition as a result just doesn't work for me, that includes the protaganist unfortunately.

Warden
Inquisitor

The Warden just clicked instantly with me because of the origin story. And his voice in my head was awesome.
The Inquisitors VA is actually pretty good, but his dialogue seems oddly tame.

Hawke felt like someone else's character all the time and still does so in DA:I. I feel more attached to any XCOM squad than to Hawke.

I find it hard to choose because i am rather partial to voice acting which the warden doesn't have. Voice acted PC's make these games. That said..

Inquisitor ( because Cullen! )
Hawke
Warden

but really I love them all in their own way, there is only a small gap between each choice for me.

1. hawke

2. warden

3. inquisitor

my hawke wins by a landslide because i'm just so attached to him and out of all 3 protagonists, he's the only one who truly feels like a real character, just as much as your companions, whereas both my warden and inquisitor feel lifeless in comparison.  with that said though, i don't think i can ever use a world state that doesn't feature my canon warden.  i've imported that one save into DA2 so many times, and i used her again when creating my default world state, that using any other would just feel unnatural and weird.

also, it's not like i don't like my inquisitor.  i'm sure she'll grow on me more over time, but she just hasn't been around as long as my warden and hawke have.

Inquisitor

Hawks

Warden

I just found the warden completely lacking in personality. Mainly because I had no idea why she would care about the plot. She was a mage who had been locked up in a tower her entire life, why would she care about saving Feraldan from the blight? She'd probably just want to flee the country.

I liked Hawke. She was a terrible person, but after accidently getting everyone she cared about killed over ten years she had a reason to be that way!

Inquistor, I love. The entire story was just so much more interesting from the point of view of someone who not only didn't believe in the maker, but also hated the entire religion (Elf). Half the things that happened in the game would be her worst nightmare! Being the herald of Andraste, being captured by humans, meeting ancient elves who call her a shemlen, finding out all her beliefs might be a lie, dating the Dread Wolf... It was a really bad year for her, but that made it a lot of fun to play!

Most Favourite- The Warden

Hawke by a mile, warden second, IQ third.

Favorite:

Hawke- It doesn't even matter if he's mean, funny, or nice. He actually has a voice and facial expressions and he kicks a** and get the job done. He also had the better companions, even if one was a bat shyt crazy mage who blew up everybody.  He had some failures and life was hard, and Kirkwall sucked, but he still had his victories and quite honestly, I would have rather had seen what Hawke was up to more than anything.  I was so angry when I heard him talk about Investigating the Red Templars and getting chased from his home. That should have been my DAI experience! Going on the run, meeting Loghain, et al. I wouldn't have minded one bit if I went to go talk to some random Inquisitor guy and help him out before setting off to Weisshaupt for what seems like an even darker adventure.

Least:

Inquisitor- Boring and bland. Tranquil. Golden boy with no personality to speak of. It was so bad to the point where other characters had to tell me how exciting this PC is.  He could never be as clever or as witty as Hawke and could never be as badass as the Warden. He simply exists and outside of the religious worship and the possibilities that could bring he offers nothing.

My Warden is still my favourite. She's the only one of the bunch that I really feel was my character, and the one with by far the most flexibility in how you could play them. I could put far more thought into her than I could the other two, and because of that, I feel far more emotionally attached to this day. That style of protagonist, where you pretty much envision whatever sort of personality you wish and apply it, floats with me much better than the other approach.

Hawke was good as a character, but not so much as an RPG protagonist, I found. I really didn't feel much investment there.

Inquisitor was a bit better, but in the end, felt more like a boring version of Hawke than a Warden that talked.

So yeah. My canon Mahariel. She's still my favourite by far.

Warden - Felt the most like my character.  Can't decide between my Cousland and Dalish Elf though.

Inquisitor

Hawke - Felt the least like my character, had the least amount of attachment to.  Whole game felt like I was just another Seeker in the room listening to Varric tell the events of someone named Hawke.
