Vivienne gets bested a couple times. She refuses to acknowledge it however, because she's Madame de Fer. She refuses to show weakness. Cole gets her a couple times however with his mind-reading ability, by publically revealing things she fears or that hurt her.

I feel like mind rape doesn't really count as a loss for Vivienne because it's a loss for everybody; even Solas gets shown up by it, although he uses his magical god powers to cover it up.

Cassandra, have you ever hit a bear?

Sera, did you shoot through my horns?

Sera, I noticed you killed some one I was attacking, or, It’s not like I know who put lizards in my bed roll.

I find that kind of out of the box dialogue engaging.

Vivienne's role does not allow for it. Droll comments from the pretentious can be humorous, but wear out quickly. Vivienne's best line seems to be when giving the Inquisitor advise about Sera's gift.

But that does not change the validity of either characters role in the game. I think they are both perfect for the characters they play.

It's a loss for Vivienne because she tries to wear a mask of being made of iron. Cole gets the better of her (unintentionally of course..he's trying to be nice) by publicly revealing that she's scared of magic and demons, that a Duke's racist comment her hurt, or later that she even has some concern for Cole's well being. It tears down the Madame de Fer persona she's adopted.

As to the question, I think Sera is the funniest character that BioWare has ever done. That having been said, her funniest dialogue, in my opinion, is with Vivienne, so if you're choosing between them, you'll miss out on that.

As to which is more interesting, it's kind of a toss up. I think you'd have to spend a fair bit of time with them both to make that decision.

I can point out that Sera isn't as funny when she banters with Cole. I have no idea what Vivienne is like with Cole in the party, as I've never traveled with both of them at once.

"Oh, for... Seriously? This is why you've bothered me? Just shave something rude into your privates, dear. She won't get the redundancy"

Bless you Viv for this offer. Bless you.

Can you believe I actually didn't take it...?

I pretty much said no to a nekkid scene.

No, I understand that, but I think it "doesn't count" because it's, like, cheating. And it happens to everybody.

Hah. I always said yeah because why not.

I'm just curious as to what can possibly be shaved there with that kind of precision to be vulgar, and...uh...who helped out with this.

I think this is a good observation and in RL as well. I do not know if the writer designed it that way or not, but in general the working class has a hard time trying to portray them selves as gentry. Vivienne's beginnings are working class.

If Sera doesn't like people who have wipers, how could she possibly be okay with people who have...shavers?

Vivienne, hilariously bitchy. But then again, bitchy is bitchy.

Sera, the single most annoying video game character I have ever encountered. Can't stand her, everything about that character repulses me.

So yeah, in the end I'll go with Vivienne.

Vivienne gets bested a couple times. She refuses to acknowledge it however, because she's Madame de Fer. She refuses to show weakness. Cole gets her a couple times however with his mind-reading ability, by publically revealing things she fears or that hurt her. And Dorian holds his own with Vivienne while trading zingers. I'd say Solas gets the better of her in one banter about demons and apostates as well, he just does it in a passive aggressive way.

While Vivienne owns a couple of the party members in banter (particularly Sera, whom she consistently crushes), she isn't without a couple losses.

Perhaps. But the same can't be said about her interactions with the Inquisitor.

It's funny how Vivienne is the only character whose disapproval results in your character getting pranked, mocked and then literally scratching his head and awkwardly leaving like "she really kicked my ass". You don't get the chance to respond.

It seems the only way to win is to turn down her request to join the Inquisition. That bitter face is too satisfying.
