Indeed why are you left confused? It's all fairly self-evident, unless you never paid any attention what so ever to the lore that is.

Deliberate cliffhanger.

But anyway. It appears you don't know what she meant by the "Dread Wolf" - the Dread Wolf is from Elven mythology of the God who locked away the rest of the Elven gods which resulted in the Elves fall from grace and into slavery. That's Solas.

The scene itself is him taking Flemeth/Mythal's power.

Was that confirmed for sure anywhere?

Because it could be any of the three things imo:

1. Solas drains Flemeth of her power

2. Flemeth takes over Solas

3. Solas and Flemeth agreed to merge their powers in Solas's body

Well, Solas' fresco is completed after the epilogue depicting the wolf standing over the dead dragon with a sword in it's head. And if that wasn't convincing enough, game developer notes. Flemeth allows it and knew it though.

As was said it is a cliffhangar, and Solas turns out is Fen'Harel, or the Dread Wolf, Trickster god of eleven mythology.

Beyong that, I'm not really sure what's going there. I can't tell if Solas sucked the life outta Flemeth. Or Flemeth body jumped/found a new body. Or there was a merging.

I also wonder, if you had OGB, what did Flemeth do with that? How much merging went on there?

So, I'm a bit confused, too. In a good way.

Oh, where are the game dev notes? Is that part of the Behind the Scenes thing, or...?

Thank you!

edit: Whoa!

So...but..okay. Did Morrigan get the essence if she drank from the well? or did she refuse it altogether? Or if you drank did you get it? If no one drank did Solas get it?

Wow, Solas.....he killed my Flemeth. I want to hurt him.

I always thought that was supposed to be depicting the final battle with Corypheus. Wolves are a theme in others, so always thought the giant wolf was supposed to be the Inquisitor slaying the 'archdemon'. Since the fresco is supposed to be depicting all of the Inquisitors accomplishments

Yea, i got that.. But in the temple where you beat Corpypheus to the Well, it states several times the Dread Wolf did not do such things, and the Elven Lore was handed down incorrectly.. WHich is why im not understanding the plot? I got the Impressions that the Dread Wolf was a good guy, after that section..

Reguardless, i dont understand the connection to Flemeth, and the Orb Corypheus carried the entire time.. ALmost like Solas gave it to him? It sounded as if Flemeth, and Solas were talking about somethng going wrong.. Idk.. Hopefully, we get a dlc.. As much as i disliked the game, the main story was very appealing.. As with the companions and their missions..

My Inquisitor Qun Mage drank from the well, and i did not have Solas with me during the final conflict, if that matters..Nor was he with me inside that Elven temple..

I always got the impression it was Flemeth taking over Solas's body rather than the other way around, only because she says "I'm sorry, too" in that typical way people do in movies or what have you before they kill the person they're talking to.  :P

The Dread Wolf (Solas) and Flemeth were best buddies long long ago. - if you look at that mighty eluvian in the scene you will see the wolf depiction of Solas on the left side and Mythal on the Right

Mythal as a full goddess has been killed. She was betrayed and killed. A wisp of her essense managed to survive however, and through the ages women have nurtured that essence of Mythal while she plots her revenge

For some reason Solas wakes up after a thousand year slumber. When he wakes up he discovers things are very different from what he expected.

Before Solas slept he had used powerful magic to lock up his fellow gods. He locked them away so that they will stop fighting each other and causing wars that killed thousands. His hope was that without the gods the ancient elves will evolve in peace and prosper.

He was disappointed when he woke up. he was disappointed and determined to fix his mistake. To fix that mistake he needed Power.

Solas was in posession of an elven artifact of great power, however he could not unlock it after his slumber because he was too weak.

So he somehow found and gave his orb to Corypheus

Solas's quest for power to rectify his mistake caused the breach in the sky. So he now had a second mistake to fix

At the end of DA he succeeds in closing the breach, but the orb is destroyed...the power he needs to restore his fellow gods is destroyed

That was when Solas became desperate

Solas tracks down Flemeth who already knew hwe was coming.

At the point they meet in the Epilogue Flemeth is willing to give the dread wolf her power. I have no idea what she is getting out of the deal, but she is willing to give Solas the power he needs. (Perhaps Mythal wants Fen Harel to release the other gods who betrayed her she can exact a terrible revenge)

Mythal does not mind giving Fen Harel power, what she really wants is for Morrigan to inherit the essence of a god from her. This could make Morrigan extraordinarily powerful

The thing that confused me was indeed if Solas or Flemeth is doing the transfer. I'm leaning towards Solas but it's not like it can be said for sure.

I'm thinking it's still him/fen'harel because I think the future of DA will revolve around the fate of the fade; I have a feeling that it exists due to fen'harel, or at least its current incarnation. :)

Flemeth is transferring power to Solas. That is why she collapses

Mythal also continues to appear to elves even after that scene, although it is not clear what she is looking for

I disagree. The figure on the left has scales across its belly like a snake and the head shape is completely different from the wolves in the other frescoes. It also has a wing. IMO, it's two dragons -- depicting the battle between Mythal's dragon (victorious) on the left and Corypheus' dragon (dead) on the right.

See for yourself.

It is a deliberate cliffhanger.

But what you appear to have missed is the reference being 'Dread Wolf'.

If you've paid attention to the codex entries and comments about the Elven Gods, through this game and others, you'll kniw that Fen'harel was the Elven deity who locked all the other Elven Gods away. Which is why we've never encountered any of the others before.

That is apart from Mythal. Because we learn that not only was Mythal NOT locked away, she was previously murdered. And Flemeth has been Mythal's mortal host for an indeterminate length of time. (which is also probably why Hawke had to place Flemeth's locket on the Altar of Mythal, in DA2).

It certinly appears from the end of the game that Fen'harel (Solas) gave the orb to Corypheus, hoping he would open a breach to the fade (and be destroyed in doing so) with the probable intention being to release the Elven Gods from wherever he imprisoned them. Only something went wrong.

Whatever happens between Solas and Flemeth may well be a sacrifice made in order to reattempt similar.

It appears to be Fur to me.. Idk.. The rounded snout on the standing figure is confusing, but i would say one is definitely Wolf.. The dead one , is anyones guess?

@ everyone else.. Thank you for the input.. It was all very helpful.. I did indeed pay attention to the codex entries for all 3 games, but this was very confusing to me.. And it appears im not the only one :P

I thought he said he was too weak when he woke up
