I never liked Miranda and did everything in my power to get her killed, there is only one way and it has to happen at one point during the suicide mission, she should not be loyal.

Felt good not seeing that tight ass on my next ME3 playthrough, Oriana be damned!

*edit*

To be clear, this actually had nothing to do with her dress sense, I just can not stand that woman, she has a personality worse than Ashley. The butt-hugging outfit only adds to my annoyance.

I've always wondered how I'd feel about the character if I didn't have her wedgie-ass & camel-toe constantly shoved in my face.

I'd consider buying the alternate appearance pack for that nice-looking armor, but I imagine she'd look the same outside of missions, so it prolly wouldn't make much difference.

She wears alternate outfit out of missions as well. You'll have to deal with default outfit in ME3 though

Thanks - it might be worth a try.  That black armor is quite attractive.  :)

My only problem with it is the visor. A problem that comes with all Alternate Appearance outfits. Jack's outfit is great but that visor doesn't fit IMO.

Crazy to think that any editing of original coding will be done, remasters are just retooled to run on next gen with minor graphical improvements.

Hopefully in the next ME game all characters will have at least one armor set that comes with an optional helmet. The less seen of breather masks, the better.

Dead Space and Guardians of the Galaxy have the best versions for helmets IMO. No problems with disappearing helmets like on Mars and we are still able to see the character's face in cutscenes. I hope they'll include something like that in ME:Next, the helmets are one of the problems they had in every game of the trilogy.

The thing to consider is that it is not just the outfits that are an issue, but also how (especially in cutscenes) they are framed.

Jacob may have had a relatively tight fitting outfit, but I cannot recall ever having a conversation where the camera was focused on his arse or bollocks. It's really rather puerile.

A lot of it is out of the Michael Bay school of filming, like this nice panning on Samara when she is first introduced:

i can't be arsed going through them, but it is very noticeable - but then Michael Bay makes a metric fuckton of money out of his films, so what do i know.

Incorrect. She can die loyal or not loyal either fighting the terminator or holding the line.

For her to die fighting the terminator, she has to be not loyal. Of course this applies to all squadmates.

If you leave her by herself to hold the line and she is loyal or not loyal, she dies. Both times I left her, she died and both times she was loyal

Not the point, Matthias King nicely sums up the actual problem.

To make it perfectly clear, they aren't against hot girls.  I'm certainly not.

What they're against is the impracticality and ridiculousness of having them engage in combat while half-naked and wearing no armor or environmental protection when they would clearly need it, all for the sake of shoehorning T&A (or beefcake) in where it doesn't belong.  Especially given that ME1 didn't need to resort to that in order to be a great game.

Forcing that cheap T&A into the game came at the expense of things like believability and immersion.

Sometimes it's hard to believe this game is for ages 17 and up.

No, he is not.

Have you not read this thread? It would appear you have not, why would you say something like that when you do not know what you are basing it on?

He is.

Just deal with it. You don't need to agree with him.

Yet I can remember the graciously shot framing of Miranda's ass in Mass Effect 2...

It cheapens the characters to have such unnecessary attention focused on these things.  I'm not speaking from the perspective of someone who's taken a 40 oz . of  "Anita Sarkessian" punch.  I'm speaking from the perspective of a man in his late 30's who sees obvious attempts to give me a gamer boner as cheap and pathetic.  It's insulting to me because it basically tells me that the developer thinks that unless they flash random ass in my face that I won't enjoy their game.

It actually breaks my immersion because I'm rolling my eyes and saying, "oh, right! Because 'gamers' are kids who punch the clown to crap like this".

Quite the contrary ^_^

My problem with something like Miranda's white catsuit, especially if worn everywhere, is not that it looks sexy, but that it looks cheap...which hurts her image as a competent operative.

Man, I wish we would get retractable helmets. It's not as if they would be a totally unbelievable thing against a backdrop filled with highly sophisticated miniaturized tech, folding weapons and mass effect fields.

Retractable helmets stretch believability a bit for me, but if you can buy the whole 'minifacturing' aspect of the Omni-tools in ME3, then retractable helmets aren't that much of a leap.

That and there's the question of where the helmets go from one time they're worn to the next time, because the characters aren't carrying them in their hands and the helmets aren't attached to their armor anywhere, so retractable helmets are a better option than a traditional helmet disappearing into the 'pocket dimension' when not worn.

I can't defend the up close butt and cleavage shots, (regardless of how nice it is to me) I can imagine that making a lot of people uncomfortable. If that's the argument and you stop there, fine.

But regarding the "impracticality" of outfits, I just still think people are unfairly singling out the females over males. Thane, Jacob, and Zaeed (the former two more than anything) all have outfits that stretch believably in the context of the game.

You can see Jacob's pecs and abs through his suit, and it shapes up his ass pretty nicely. It's about as tight and unarmored as Miranda's outfit, yet doesn't get much flack.

And lol Thane, wearing nothing but a trenchcoat and a skintight onepiece that exposes his chest and neck area.

Like I said if you have a problem with the "sexualization" of the female outfits, just go ahead and say so, w/o hiding behind the "impracticality" and "breaking immersion" arguments, because the outfits the men wear are just as ridiculous as the women's in the context and setting of the game (which don't really matter IMO, since it's all fantasy and escapism to me)

I don't view Miranda, Samara, or Jack any differently because of the way they dress. They're still the same characters, (with their strength and flaws) regardless of how they dress. It's the same with the males.

I like the female outfits because they're aesthetically pleasing to me, and I think they have a right to be in the game, if the males look they way they look. Arguing about things like sexualization and taste is subjective (which means opinions should not be stated as fact)

^People have the same issue's with the males, its just that the issue's are notable with most of the female characters in this regard.

How can you miss Zaaed's uncovered arm, Thane's bare chest and neck, and Jacob's skintight outfit? Although there are no camera panning and up close shots, it's still there.

Because an arm is not sexual is it.Stop being ridiculous.

And I don't recall Jacob having the outfit so tight it outlined his knob, like EDI's lovely outfit did.
