Finally finished my next build guide! Check it out!

 

Synopsis:

 

This is a different take on the Arcane Warrior. Whereas the meta-build for the Arcane Warrior focuses on close-range fighting and dealing high damage, instead I went with a back-line support role making heavy use of the Rift Mage abilities and passives along with Dispel. While it doesn't kill enemies as quickly, it honestly is about the second-best crowd-control build available for any character I have used.

But,I used Magic rock+PotA before discovered FS2W.

Those are some of my favorite spells, and mindblast too. Ok, pretty much every active ability on AW except Spirit Blade, Frost step and Flashfire (who uses FF?). Those abilities are mediocre and overrated.

 

The AW benefits so much from CQC Spellcasting via Static Charge and Combat Clarity, it is ridiculous to underutilize them via FS/SB all the time.

 

Surprised there's no CL for easy sleep combo here, but it isn't absolutely necessary if you have an electric staff or allies using static cage.

Paralyzed if you were a footsoldier attacking while I spam spells (due to static charge). Put to sleep with a follow-up stone fist. Punch to sleep!

 

It would be no wonder if you actually read my build list linked in my signature. Those are all the spells listed in my favorite Combo King build.

I'd recommend it, but you have to retrain your normal AW reflex to rush into the fray... You'll die amazingly fast if you play assuming you have Fade Cloak and Spirit Blade lol.

Leader roles are frequently in the back-line. However, having both the Keeper and Arcane Warrior as Leader roles means that you could have two elves behind you... Watch your back.  ;)

I know your intent when using the word and where you're getting it from, but you have to realize how that sounds to the likely majority that do not. In the current gaming climate, "support" or "controller" are much more prevalent and easily understood. Even the Dragon Age games themselves (previous titles' Tactics settings) refer to Supporter and Controller. Diction can prevent misunderstandings.

See, Controller is one of the four D&D roles, next to Defender, Striker, and Leader. Support and Healer roles are sub-sets of a Leader. I actually do spell out what the roles used in the build are in the beginning of every build guide video, if you noticed.  :D

I did notice. Which is why I said I knew what you meant and where you're coming from. I went on to give the friendly tip that most people don't know what you mean, because the common gaming parlance has shifted. As the purpose of language is to communicate effectively, I was suggesting making your life easier. If you want to insist on using terminology that is likely to confuse most modern gamers, that's your prerogative.

Ah, it is my prerogative, as it's a marketing ploy. Between How I Met Your Mother and PewDiePie, how common are the terms "bro" and "brah"? Creating a unique "language" for viewers makes your audience feel more exclusive, and it gains respect from the hard-core RPG crowd. Overall, spending 5 seconds explaining my terminology at the beginning of a video is not a big deal, especially since I am often repeating the same definitions.

Just figured I'd give you a little more in-depth explanation.

All good points and fair. Just thought I would give my two cents, on the off chance you were getting irritated at having to repeat yourself. That is all.

 

 

Back on topic: I might have to give Dispel and/or Veilstrike another go. Chain Lightning shock is tough to give up though. Mass sleep is extraordinarily powerful, especially when we're talking about CC. Panic Cloak can go, though it is a nice last resort at times.

Honestly, Dispel is so bloody amazing, but it has a bit of a learning curve to get good with it. For the first few matches I had it, I kept forgetting about it. Once I set my mind to use it, I started recognizing the patterns on when to use it. The best part? It interrupts spell-casting (just like Spell Purge) if you time it right. The Demon and Venatori Commanders rage-quit because I kept interrupting like everything they'd do.

 

And that's not to discount Veilstrike. It's a great panic-button, and at a 20 mana cost (with Punching Down), it won't really interfere with other spells. Combined with Chain Lightning is also great, and was honestly a tough choice between upgraded Chain Lightning for the Sleep combo or getting Dispel for this build.

 

Arguably, these two are equally as usable on the Keeper if you wanted to use the Arcane Warrior in a different way.

The only D&D role I'm interested in is who gets the Pizza and Mt Dew, because this game isn't D&D. Maybe I want the +9 Ogre-slaying Knife too.

You are amazingly perceptive! Yes, this game is not D&D. That is quite obvious. Dragon Age is it's own unique universe.

However, the roles defined by D&D are far more logically defined that the rather lazily defined "Holy Trinity". The Holy Trinity has no place for crowd control, as it basically says that if you are not damaging, tanking, or healing, you are useless. How would you define class roles across different games in a way that is concise, consistent, and logical?
 

I'm on my phone so I can't watch the video yet but I already approve of this build.

Yep. In fact, the Dragon Age games actually provide their own in-universe terminology, which you can see here: http://dragonage.wik...Tactics/Presets
