I really like some of that EU, the black fleet crisis, the thrawn saga, truce at bakura...the Reborn Emperor saga, Continuation of the Galactic civil war.
Etc
It really makes sense the Empire and rebels would throw down for near on 20 years in a conflict that would cost billions of lives.
The EU had a lot of good stories in it.
At least the movies are covering that, with them being thirty years after Return of the Jedi yet the Rebellion/New Republic is still at war with the Empire.
Yes.

Personally I think him doing what he did was the conclusion of a life long journey to it from being kidnapped as a child to the vong war to him saying yes to Luynimia.( I know I misspelled that)
What pisses me off his that he lost to his sister who up until that battle hadn't even been in his league.
Jacen held his own against Grand Master Luke Skywalker for ****s sake! And this sword of the Jedi tosh comes around and thinks she can defeat him despite all the ability, talent, experience and his insane precognition?
Its bullshit!
Isn't the reason obvious? Boba Fett taught her. Everyone knows that if you need something awesome to happen, in this case teaching someone to be the best, have Boba Fett do it. It was an unofficial rule for all the EU writers. ![]()

So in the spirit of honoring the original author's intent in "the final problem"
I go off the premise he died.
Judging by the same standards, we should expect Calpernia to be alive, since all the evidence points toward an intention to make that possible.
And, more importantly, I think he needs to grow a pair. Dorian is a wuss, IMO.
Why? All I can see is that he didn't go through the fire yet, hasn't experienced the kind of adverse circumstances Calpernia went through, but that's not his fault.

*snorts* did the lead writer put down in his memoirs he specifically regretted bringing her back?
That's the standard.
Doyle wished his literary work had never become political.
If you look at how Calpernia's appearances are orchestrated in DAI, you can clearly recognize that there is an intention to keep things open, so that she can return should the DA team desire it, Sure, it's more that the DA team is hedging their bets rather than stating a clear intention, but given how things usually work in fiction I fully expect a re-appearance.

No, but Weekes has said that the writers were very fond of Calpernia and were keen to see fan reaction to her, in case they wanted to bring her back. I think it was one of the podcast interviews a few months back.

I rly hope they are done with "hey ,im dead but i will turn out to be alive in next game" they rly already oversued that in this series.
Yep. She put her money on the wrong horse so to speak. It is over for her now.

I think Dorian is somewhat equal to Calpernia actually. He infiltrated the Venatori, and risked a lot going to you. If you refuse his help and go after the templars instead, he doesn't join you at that point, he goes back to infiltrating the Venatori and watching their movements.
I think he also played some unseen role in stopping Alexius in this case. Which would explain why Alexius never uses the time magic if the Inquisition ignores him.

She was a slave. I can get why she did it.
Even so, I hope that when we finally see Tevinter it's not an over-the-top sadistic slaver society. Even GRRM went overboard with Slaver's Bay. I have no expectations here, only hope.

Way to too late for that ,series already have established they are pretty much most vile society in the setting.

I wouldn't say that. They still have time to write it off as bad PR, which would make sense as Tevinter is already very culturally separate from the rest of Thedas.

It isn't even bad PR ,it is what we saw and heard about tevinter culture from people that came from there. Pretty much every person that was there have a lot of negative things to say about it.
Warder gave you only one of many examples.
They could always pull a Qunari 180 and suddenly become tolerant all along, just misunderstood by all the players who were going by facts this whole time.
That's the culture of the ruling elite. Which, of course, needs to change - possibly by removing the ruling elite - for Tevinter to have any chance of getting out of the "Evil Empire" corner. Meanwhile, we know little about everyday culture in the Imperium. It is also not clear how representative that scene is even within the ruling elite. That's what that culture is.
If I may call attention to a statement in World of Thedas I: "...the Tevinter Imperium is the most maligned and demonized nation in Thedas. It is virtually impossible to find writings from Tevinter outside its borders that have not been heavily altered or outright forged." (WoTI 75)
Except we find several Codex entries written by the people in Tevinter who back up what is said about it. Even Dorian, a man who loves his country, still admits it has a lot of the negative aspects the rest of the world says about it.
