The common sense of any era is roughly equivalent to cutting edge philosophy of three centuries earlier.

The population at large does a lousy job of keeping up with new ideas.

Then how come the current population is not going to work every morning by horse these days? Huh?! <_<

You are confusing the characteristics of the knowledge/the science that evolves over time with the capabilities of the human brain! The brain can adapt much more quickly and much better than the sciences do. The cutting edge knowledge of the great thinkers of bygone centuries was nothing more or less than a mixed bag of nonsense ... from todays point of view. The value of knowledge is in its application. Let the populous apply this knowledge and they will be better off because of it. They don't have to understand every aspect of it. The great thinkers of any century did not foresee what is normal for us today. It is not important. What matters is the quality of life that gets improved for the gaming community!

because- oh who am I kidding? I'm done with this ****** bullshit. I'm either going to force myself to enjoy single player now that they ruined multiplayer, shelf the game for a while, or sell it.

maybe boot up origins if I feel like the kind of gaming that requires chain smoking

Like I said: "I wholeheartedly disagree!"

I do NOT believe that people in general are "stupid" or anything like it. And I do not believe that people dislike to be "challenged" by their entertainment in general. And my argument for saying that - despite the existance of something like "TV" and so on - is that the very existance of the RPG-genre disproves your argument! The very existance of the RPG-genre completely dismantles your argument in my eyes.

So, no! When someone rich and powerful tries to "corrupt" the developer industry and tries to "dismantle" and "rape" the RPG-genre, I am not gonna stand idle by it and say: "Ah well, people are stupid ... and very gullible anyway. History has shown this to us many times over!" No, Sylvius, I am gonna start screaming: "Fire, rape, murder ... police, police ... police, please come over here!" ... and say things like: "Dear RPG-fans don't give in! There are people trying to rob you and cheat you out of your assets. There are people trying to fool you and use you and take advantage of you!" That is what I am gonna say ...

... but, I tell you something else:

The Pirate Bay is back up :D

Yup, that's right - they couldn't shut it down! Not if they started WW3 over it! Not in a cold day in hell ...

Because we are stronger than they will ever be!

Cannot disagree with you on this one...

EA thinks about making money. Then they think about making more money. Then they try to forget winning worst company award.

Consider that the original BioWare and many other companies made money simply because they made good games.

That's not how EA 'thinks. EA thinks–how can we monetize those popular single player games like Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age by BioWare? EA VP decides no game will be released without multiplayer. Mass Effect and Dragon Age now have multiplayer. Adding multiplayer wasn't cost free. And I wonder how much better if all the money went to a single player only ME 3 and DA:I

We did lose a lot in the transition from the earlier games to DA:I and I find parts of the game awkward. It just doesn't play as easily as DA:O

The art/design team however, is still top notch. Easy to get distracted from playing the game just wandering around in the environments that they've created. However, artists generally don't get to make policy changes–that's way up the corporate ladder.

One of the biggest losses though, was the toolset from all the previous games. A lot of talented people added a lot of mods to those games (for free) and enriched the community with their craft. Remember how the games were improved and many problems fixed? EA and BioWare could hardly be unaware of the popularity of NexusMods for DragonAge and all the mods and helper applications available. All those mods really added to game replayability (something that DA 2 didn't have for me). Look just the hair styles added to DA:O–now count the how many unisex hairstyles available in DA:I–very limited.

Disclaimer: I really did want to get DA:I for the PC but didn't want to install Origin nor have to put up with the new DRM scheme (another EA favorite) so I opted out for the PlayStation 4 version.

The lack of modability of this game surprised me as well..  Like I said before, I wasn't such a big fan of DAO but moding made it a lot more enjoyable and added a lot to the replay value of the game. And also, moding means longevity for a game. Skyrim mods are still popping up every day even after 4 years and I would be a real shame if DAI would just become forgotten in a year or so..

O ventus you are wrong. Plenty of quanari mercenarys (sten duplicates). Horns cane in da2

Im replaying origins so kittle details i see missing

World map-the map is better. Even the interaction is better

The story-sorry right from the begining its better. If dao had pretty graphics, talking, open world its not even close. Introduction of flemeth and scenes that take place in other parts of fereldan are brilliant.

I talk to my dwarven second and he questioned my decision on a scholar and how i treated him. My second is a minor character. Dao is lord of the rings while dai is the hobbit. Its good but facing that dragon and blight is just more epic and is a better story . I would pay double for a remastered dao with dai open world and throw in some of the gameplay ive seen in the witcher.

There is no impact like once lothering is gone from the map or redcliffe

Theres no blind knight protecting the orphanage, the rapist, howes betrayal, crazy conner

Dungeon mapping is better. Persuading the elven messenger to give me the sword or helping the kids who are afraid or convincing the bartender to defend the town and fight with him

Yeah, the "mod-ability" of Skyrim was the only thing that made it so popular in the first place! If EA wants to copy the success of Skyrim they really should have STARTED with mods! The only reason why this dumbed-down TES installment - which got plenty of backlash from the TES-fans for being too shallow - was so popular for so long was because the moddign-scene kept it alive !!! There is no doubt in my mind about that. And in the year 2014/2015 mods should be fully supported anyway. It even is the best form of PR you can get for your games! I play on console and have no access to mods if I choose to buy the console version over the PC version. But even I want them to support mods. I want the PC-enthusiasts who upgrade their gaming-rigs to no end to have as much fun as possible. Their work (the mods) is an enrichment for the gaming community and the gaming industry! This behavior from Bio&EA is frankly just stupid ...

Indeed.... I don't know what was in their minds. I'm no programmer or designer so I won't blame them for it even it was a bad decision. The TES modding community is massive and it kept Morrowind alive to this day. Also, some crazy guys have teamed up and now are working on transferring Morrowind to the Skyrim engine. It's called Skywind. You can look it up on google. Morrowind in SKyrim engine ? Holy s***t... Bethesda will be happy cause more people are going to buy Morrowind.

Unfortunately this cannot be with done with dragon age. Some here would kill to play DAO with next gen graphics but because of the engines and game design I don't think it's possible to do.

I'm curious how far will modders get with this mod unfriendly engine. Maybe they will be the ones fixing this party banter bug which seems to be one of the most famous bugs in gaming history. :P
