Who is the most vile evil villain in the series in both personality and actions? And im not talking broodmother vile I am talking about villains like Rendon Howe, Caladrius, Quentin, Sister Petrice, Florianne and Erimond. The villains who its hard to find sympathy for or respect like Loghain, Arishok, and Samson among others. Who is the nastiest foe in the series we have faced so far that at the end of the day you was more then happy to do the world a favor and get rid of them? Doesnt have to be the people I named just any villain in the series.

For me it is still Arl Howe with Erimond a close second because Erimond while probably the most vile in Inquisition he still want his country to rise to glory. Howe on the other hand I feel only cared about himself and I would say to a degree took advantage of Loghain's blinding hate for Orlais to furthur his own goals and public status.

Its not hard for people to find sympathy for some of these "villains"...

I'd probably have to go with Alrik. You've got a man sworn to a holy order, perverting his position and abusing his power, lobotomizing people to turn them into compliant sex slaves.

Vaughn and Howe are close seconds, but to me, Alrik takes the cake.

Quentin and Howe, probably.

The stupid evil award goes to that Caladrius guy in the Alienage, though.

"You're...trying to bargain for your life...with the lives of the people I broke in here to save?"

"Umm...yes?"

"..."

From what i remember guy was far from stupid evil and tried to make deal in first place the warden is there to find prove against loghain and that is what he tries to offer if you won't agree and defeat him he tries bargin with new deal power what isn't dumb.

The first person to pop into my head when I read the title was Arl Howe.  The man was scum, pure and simple... but on the other hand, DA2 had some pretty sickening villains too, like Ser Alrik, Ser Kerras, and Quentin.  Those three were mainly perverts though, and since that guarantees a spot on my list no matter what other crimes a person has committed, Arl Howe gets my vote.

Honestly, I think that's kind of the defining line between "antagonist" and "villain".  Contrast Howe with Loghain.  Loghain, however disagreeable his actions were, however wrong he may (or may not) have been, genuinely believed he was doing the right thing for his people and his country.  He didn't revel in it, he didn't exult in it, he just did it.  Howe, on the other hand, seemed to get off on the pain he caused and went out of his way to do as much of it as he could.  You could contrast Alrik and Meredith the same way.

Howe. His betrayal was one of the most brutal moments of DA:O if you chose the human noble storyline and he doesn't have many - if any - redeeming qualities.

Going to have to agree with the majority and run with Howe as well. Although shapeshifting was largely useless, I made a point of making sure the finishing blow was to use overpower on him as a bereskarn. I took great please in ripping his nipples off.

Vaughn the rapist gets 2nd place for me though. It's actually primarily down to this character that I couldn't abide to play as a male Hawke, although it was no fault of the voice actor. This turned out not to be hardship though, as I enjoyed being a femhawke just fine.

Ser Alrik and Vaughn are equally vile, IMO. Vaughn uses his political sway the same way Alrik uses tranquility. Same thing, in the end.

Part of what makes Alrik worse, to me, was reading Pharamond's description of tranquility in Asunder.

I thought that tranquility completely removed emotions, so Alrik's victims would only suffer when he's threatening them with tranquility (which, let's be clear, is bad enough).

But Pharamond's description makes it sound like the person is still in there, but unable to access/express their emotions. Which is way, way worse.

Howe.

Betrays and murders the Couslands, including children and household servants, primarily out of a desire for personal gain.

He was probably in on Loghain's plot to betray Cailain (Howe's actions don't make sense otherwise), making him an accessory to regicide as well.

He uses murder and intimidation to keep the populace in line after his rise in power.

He is embezzling from the treasury.

Nathaniel's dialogue in Awakenings paints him as a terrible father.

It is implied that he not only uses torture as a political tool, but that he is a sadist who enjoys it.

And he's involved in selling Denerim's elves into slavery to fund Loghain's war effort in the Civil War.

I don't think he has a single redeeming quality, and unlike Corypheus he can't claim blighted madness.

Yes, because offering to melt down all of these innocent people for some weird sh*t is totally going to convince most sane people to let you go. What an intelligent man.

I forgot about Ser Alrik and Vaughan. Those are some dirty dudes still not on Howe's level though. Maybe Alrik is close but Vaughan while a terrible human was being locked up by Howe along with a few others so Howe already has a one up on him. Had the orlesian civil war and florianne had more character time I think she would be higher as a vile villain given she was willing to have her brother take the fall for her cousins death that she was going to cause and throw her entire country into chaos just so she can rule. But once again still not worse then Howe who was doing everything he did during a blight showing he gives no care at all. Flo is probably most vile female villain though between her and petrice.

Habren Bryland. Seriously. Have you read the fennec codex? She's the next Howe, except she's obviously a lot better at using her seeming innocence to arrange matters to get her way. Fear her, all of you. She truly has no consideration of the feelings of others.

Full-evil Warden. Condemns a child to demon slavery not once but twice, defiles a holy relic, slays trusting companions... The crimes evil Warden can do in DAO are all the worse because of how people revere him.

Well, for the very least, what Danarius did is nothing wrong in his society.

Howe, on the other hand, is just plain low.

Ooh, Howe's a pretty good one. i started with the human noble and got bored, so replayed as a city elf and came to know and love decapitating Vaughn. Let's see, Vaughn, Howe (made worse after the slavers in the alienage), Quentin, Petrice (watching her die is my christmas), and Inquisition ties between Lord Seeker Lucius and Erimond. Both were horrible insects that needed to be crushed. I quite enjoyed Florianne, I felt sorry for Alexius and Samson, Envy's a demon but he still gave me the creeps, and I have nothing but respect for Calpernia. Corypheus was... eh. I wish there was more to him than "Exalt to the elder one, bow, bow!" and then we kill him.

Howe. He attempted to wipe out the Couslands, most of whom were innocents, children and servants because he was basically just jelly. He was also in charge of selling the alienage's elves to Tevinter slavers.

He also needlessly assaulted the  aleainge of the elves and having his men burn down there orphanages. Aa well as sell off elves to teventor.

For me, the worst female villain is Branka, if you are willing to call her that (she's an optional boss, so I figure she counts).  Sacrificed her entire house in some of the worst ways possible... allowing some of them to become broodmothers and sending the rest to die in a gauntlet of traps "for the greater good."

It isn't necessarily dumb to offer that to someone that isn't a CE.  From Caladrius' perspective, given the prejudices prevalent in the world of Thedas, it's entirely possible a human or dwarven Warden would be amenable to such a deal.  You could even make a case that a particularly militant Dalish might view the deal as a means of teaching the "flat ears" what happens when you abandon your culture.  I certainly wouldn't call any Warden willing to accept such a deal a good person, but from Caladrius' perspective, well...look at his options.

1.  Die.

2.  Possibly survive by offering a deal that might be acceptable.

When the other option is guaranteed death, the smart play there is to go with the gamble.  It only becomes dumb when the CE walks in, especially considering one of the intended sacrifices is the CE's father.

Hrm...Rendon Howe, by far. It is my opinion that he whispered in Loghain's ear; fed his worries and made him do things he wouldn't normally do even with his paranoia and hatred. Howe was greedy, malicious, vengeful, and the only redeeming quality he had was his glorious voice actor.

Also Sera. I don't trust her at all with anything but I guess that doesn't count as a villain does it? Also she gave me cookies so we 'coo' can't say no to cookies aaaww sheet nah bruh I'd have sold Orlais to Coffee Face if he could give me unlimited cookies with his cookie magic I'm being stupid now I'll stop.
