Alrik, Petrice, Danarius, Erimond, Petrice, Quentin, Howe, and Petrice get my votes.

The only reason I leave Petrice off my personal list is because it feels like it's giving her the significance she wanted.  I prefer to headcanon her as being a meaningless gnat, forgotten to history almost as soon as her corpse hit the ground.

The canon agrees with you. Not even a mention in Inquisition.

Hmmm well Loghain comes to mind first, but he did believe he was doing the right thing, but still pretty terrible...Sister Petrice same thing, she's vile, but sure she believed it was 'good'.  Which makes them all the more evil, but not for this thread I think.

Denarius is terrible...but a product of his culture too...

Howe..Rendon Howe is in a culture that has both callous and caring nobility, so he had other examples....and he didn't believe he was doing 'right' just doing what would benefit him the most....

so yeah...Howe takes the cake....the bastard

Petrice didn't believe ****.  She just wanted to be important and used the "true believer" shtick to reel in supporters.

I didn't think I'd face a more vile foe than Rendon Howe, until I met Erimond. He's getting tranquilized in my future gameplays.

Dragon Age 2 didn't give me any clearly despicable foes. The demons had to be destroyed. I'm sure I killed as many templars to vent my rage against. Blood mages were a nuisance I decided to gang up on first. They're no worse than the genlock emissaries or arcane horrors. But I swear, Bioware needs to bring back the Mana Clash talent.Quentin was a pitifiul lost soul I needed to put down. I don't consider the Arishok a villain.

In Origins, Howe, Vaughn

I mean, Vaughn is just a product of the times, an elitist SOB

Howe, knowingly, willingly, betrays Bryce. Killing innocent men, women in taking the castle

I mean, that man had the balls to freakin kill the little boy!

Howe.

Betrays and murders the Couslands, including children and household servants, primarily out of a desire for personal gain.

He was probably in on Loghain's plot to betray Cailain (Howe's actions don't make sense otherwise), making him an accessory to regicide as well.

He uses murder and intimidation to keep the populace in line after his rise in power.

He is embezzling from the treasury.

Nathaniel's dialogue in Awakenings paints him as a terrible father.

It is implied that he not only uses torture as a political tool, but that he is a sadist who enjoys it.

And he's involved in selling Denerim's elves into slavery to fund Loghain's war effort in the Civil War.

I don't think he has a single redeeming quality, and unlike Corypheus he can't claim blighted madness.

there is evil and complete monsters. Well Arl Rendon Howe is a complete monster, for there is no good within him. Where as an evil person might have some good, where a complete monster like Howe has none.

Like many evil people that use religion to excuse their action, Petrice is a hypocritical little ****** doesn't care about the Chantry, just her ego and her sense of entitlement are the reasons in what she did. I am sure that within the Chantry's scriptures, that there is a special places for her for being hypocritical and the other monsters within this thread.

Bann Vaughn. Every one else mentioned, even Howe, at least acted with some notion of ambition. Vaughn was (heh heh) just a sadistic ******.

Yes, because offering to melt down all of these innocent people for some weird sh*t is totally going to convince most sane people to let you go. What an intelligent man.

It felt so good to blood wound his ass as an elf mage.

...Ser Alrik. Thinking about it, I'll put him at the top of the list along with Howe.

Here's my list and reasons:

Howe - for having his soldiers kill children for what seems no reason. What a land dispute? Just cold and heartless, more so than Loghain.

Orsino - No matter what he says, what he preaches, he still gives in and uses some horrific blood magic at the end for again no gain. I mean at least Meredith had just cause with her Right of Annulment request.

Mage Warden - They can make deals with demons for children's lives, defile sacred 'ashes', help werewolves slaughter/turn an entire elvish clan, bring back a device that can is used by taking the souls of Dwarves and placing them into stone bodies to control, kill their 'friends'.

Quentin - murder of Leandra and other women to make a version of his woman and bring her back... more really evil just sadistic.

Solas - massive liar who cares little for his actions or the plight of others to fix his own mistakes.

Howe

Vaughn

Alrik

...And Erimond, whose face I would like to punch.

(I'm leaving out the ones I consider psychologically deranged, like Petrice, and exclusively considering the ones who are just arseholes).

Just to add, he did have a hand in freeing Quentin who in turned murdered Hawke's mother.

I agree. Howe was just a nasty piece of work. He destroyed his own family because of his own selfish gains. He slaughtered innocents simply because he thought he deserved more. I was more than happy to plunge The Family Sword into his gut.

- Yeah, I kept hold of the sword just for that special occasion.

Same here. I think I can remember yelling hope that hurt at the screen as well.
