Even the Chant itself says that the Maker is essentially a Deist divinity - that is that he made the world and has since largely abandoned it. That's the whole point of the Chant, to get him to pay attention again. The only exception to this rule was Andraste. This is one reason why all the talk of "Providence" in this game confused me because according to the Chant's own theology, the Maker doesn't do that.
I suppose you could argue that the Inquisition is a sort of Protestant Reformation moving away from that interpretation, but still.
So to answer your question: either he doesn't exist, or he's likely intentionally removed himself from all contact with people just as the Chant says he has.

Where the maker is unknown. Once you set side the chantries' teaching all we really know is the maker is a deity that the Northern Neromenians tribes worshiped before the old gods and that both they and the later Tevinter Imperium belived he created the world and that the golden city was his seat.
Also that he was known by a different name until Andraste started calling him the Maker but until we go to Tevinter we will likely never know what his original name was and that his return is prophesized by that stone seer Eleni Zinovia which gives some proof he does exist we just likely won't ever see him in-game.

Bioware has said they are never going to confirm whether the Maker is real or not.
The Bioware does not need to confirm itself.

If Cory just had the foresight to call ahead and book an appointment, the Maker would have made sure to be in-town when he arrived. But he didn't, now this sh*t happened.
There's a lesson to be learned here, I think.

The Maker is the creator of the universe. God if you will. (from the Christian bible)
Using the term "Maker" in game makes it less controversial.

The Maker does exist. Period. But the thing is, what is the Maker?
Is at least the Dragon Age creators.
But then does he exist in Thedas as a defined entity?
Did he really choose Andraste?
Do the chant of light tell the truth?
That's how it goes...
But one thing is certain, the Maker makes mistakes, like Inquisition

Being the full on divine creator being of Thedas and the Fade he like in the real world he doesn't have to exist on the same plane of existence as the created.

Cole says the Maker, is far away in one of the conversations with Solas IIRC.

Much like the real world, there's no proof of god/s. The only ones that could give a definitive answer are dead...and they don't do much talking anymore.

The Maker is the equivalent of 'The One Above All' in the Marvel Universe. The being responsible for all things, even Eternity itself. You think Coryface can comprehend such a being's existence so much so he claims a thrown was empty?
Also, I'll add I played that scene like 2 days ago, he says 'Seat of the Gods' plural. He's talking about the Old Gods, who were never there.

Never existed.
I think of the Maker as God. I don't think of a god as just a very very powerful person. I think of God being anything and everything. An omnipotent being that knows every possible outcome of life because he sees all and knows all. He is the air in your lungs, the light in the sky, the trees, the animals, the vacuum of space, the people you are everyday, and most importantly you.
Long story short, The maker I EVERYWHERE.
The air in you lungs doesn't have a girlfriend called Andraste.

To be fair though, it does seem like he tried! Judging by his angry ranting (Call him, call down his wrath upon me! You cannot. For he does not exist!) he probably called a bunch of times and only got his answering machine, and got REALLY angry about it. I bet he left some amazing messages!

People (the writers) forget that the Chantry is deist. DA2 was the same way. Leliana is the only one who makes sense since she always had this heretical belief.

It might be an obviously answered question, but where IS the Maker? Cory says the seat is empty.
Is he lying? Or no?
The Maker is a lie.
It only exists in the minds of the Chantry's devout.

The Chant says that the Maker turned his back on humanity. IIRC First after they started worshiping the Old Gods, and again after they killed Andraste. I got the impression from conversations with Leliana, religious figures and others that there is apparently some divine plan at work even after his abandonment, but the Chantry teaches that direct intervention will not happen until the Chant is sung from all corners of the world. So until you convert those pesky Qunari, and good luck with that, nobody is seeing the Maker (according to the Chantry at least).
