He grew tired of playing in his medieval fantasy universe so he went and created the Mass Effect universe. Sadly, he abandoned that one too after he decided he screwed up the ending.

Maybe...

Upon the intrusion of imperfection and resulting tainting of it's Divine realm, to save itself and existence from this creeping corruption the Maker shattered itself then sent pieces of it all over time and existence. Each piece pops "alive" at a forseen moment to push it's children forward and help restore the damage done to "heaven".

The Maker is a lie.

It only exists in the minds of the Chantry's devout.

Given that his return has been prophesized by a seer with a habit for true prophesies and that he wasn't simply made up by andraste but was a  creater deity known both to the ancient Neromenians tribes and the ancient Tevinter Imperium I'd say he exists.

Honestly do you have another explanation for the blights and the old gods being buried in underground prisons?

yes it is said that some in thedas believe that those dragons hibernate that's why they stay hidden, however, it doesn't explain the urge the darkspawn has for searching them, the song they hear etc

plus cory did say there was a seat, but it was empty

Bioware has said they are never going to confirm whether the Maker is real or not.

And personally, I'm rather glad they've taken this stance.  Although because the entirety of the DA universe exists within their imaginations, this means that if they want to keep it ambiguous, they have to keep including things that a hypothetical Maker could have done, which sort of means that by their not flat out denying him, he does still have a hand in events, even if he really doesn't.

...and if your ears start emitting smoke as you try to wrap your head around that, I've done my job.

There's a usually a grain of truth in all these myths. Not even the elven gods themselves created the world.

With that said, I think there was a being (s) that created the fundamentals of the world and promptly left. I somehow doubt that the Maker wants anything to do the world.

Perhaps he grew curious and Andraste, in particular, caught his attention?

The Maker is the deity above all deities in DA.

He not only created Thedas, he also created that moon that everone sees in the night sky

lesser gods like Mythal are performing functions he assigned to them

The big question I have is whether gods like Mythal and Fen Harel have any communication with the Maker? How does Fen Harel know if he is performing the role he was created to perform properly?

How does the Maker make his desires known to his servant gods?

Never existed.

Nah, I believe he existed, although maybe not in the way the Chant of Light described him.

ALTHOUGH it would be subversive if it turned out that he IS exactly as the Chant of Light described him, considering it seemed like by DA:I every lore and legends has mistakes in it :P

Just like in real life, in the minds of those who believe in him/her.

It might be an obviously answered question, but where IS the Maker? Cory says the seat is empty.
Is he lying? Or no?

He just hasn't looked hard enough.

Corypheus and co. showed up to the Maker's throne right as he stepped into the bathroom. They didn't see him, so they all thought he was gone, and they left.

So technically I guess you could say he was on his throne, just not his 'throne'.

That was a poop joke.

Maker was in visit to 'Desire Demon' realm..for...ehm..well..*coughs* some business when Corypheus arrived.

See kids this is why you should always announce that you will pay a visit to someone so they can be home when you arrive, because no one likes kissing empty doors now.

If Cory just had the foresight to call ahead and book an appointment, the Maker would have made sure to be in-town when he arrived. But he didn't, now this sh*t happened.

There's a lesson to be learned here, I think.

I can't say I blame him. Nobody likes to sit in a waiting room and wait 3 hours past the appointment time because the Maker isn't punctual.

Assuming Corypheus is speaking the truth, why would the Maker reward the magisters with his visage?

Were I an omnipotent deity and a group of mortals had the gall to try and break into my realm, I wouldn't dignify their efforts by appearing before them.

Simple, the Maker is off making more things. That's literally all the Maker does, why do more?
