I bought the game yesterday, CE. I have a state of the art system far exceeding even the optimal recommendations. My only crime is apparently running Windows Vista, which has been out for years BTW. I cant get the game to start. It crashes during the config utility. I spent 70 minutes on hold last night before being told it was a vista issue and the tech would send me 2 possible fixes. Tryed both still not working. have been on live chat in queue for over 2 hours now no tech. Game Stop will not give me a refund on open software. This is criminal. How can a company release a product that wont work with one of the most common operating systems? No fix, No patch, no workable answers. At this point all I want is my money back. I loved Baldur's Gate and figured this would be an awesome game. Too bad Bioware chose EA as the producer. EA should stick to hosting POGO they suck!!!
The release of this non-working game is criminal!

I have vista and it works fine, so obviously there is something specific with your copy of windows/hardware that is causing a problem.

I have Vista and a mid-level (a few years ago) PC. I have a great GPU but am otherwise below reccomended specs. I have no problem playing with maxed settings.I am running vista too.
EA is a much better company than they used to be. EADU is a "new" branch under new management. They had nothing to do with your problems.
Check your hardware man. Stop pirating windows.
Reformat as a last resort. This game is worth it man.

There's already another thread where some users are running into the config util problem - http://social.biowar.../58/index/92171 - we're looking into why this is happening to a handful of players.

I agree with 'The Dead Milkman', EA has made vast improvements and I no longer have to fear if I can use the game in the long term without their servers, resulting in me being able to walk to my local EB and buy up a ton of EA games,
. Oh and Bioware didn't choose EA to be their producer, Bioware is owned by EA. They got bought out awhile ago... and the game is definitely worth a reformat if need be, it'll steal your life for the next few months, it's epic!

There was a problem with the config util back when it was introduced on Mass Effect PC that caused the same issue. There was a work around somewhere that just skipped the config util. Maybe that will work if anyone can remember it.

In the other thread it was suggested you try running the game exe directly - it'll be installed (by default) in program files / dragon age / bin_ship / folder
