The more I play the game, the more questions I seem to have. Today I'd like to ask you something regarding Corypheus, Dumat, The Golden City, and the Maker.
Here Goes: Why does Cory care that the Makers throne is empty?
I ask this, because when he had his monologue in haven about the makers throne being empty, he almost seems heartbroken. I thought the guy worshipped the Old God Dumat, so shouldn't the disappearance of another God be a good thing for him?

Figure of speech.
Not so much as there not being a god there, just that the prize he wanted/promised wasn't there.
In Legacy, he not only claims that it was empty but corrupted already.

I think Cory feels very much betrayed by Dumat and the Old Gods. Remember Cory believed the whispers they heard were from the old gods. It was the reason they went to the "golden" city. They instead found the taint and nothing else.
Thus he likes to rub it in other peoples faces that any "gods" are not where they are said to be. We don't know that he actually found a "throne" persay. He just didn't find anything God-like in the black city other than corruption which mutated them into monsters.
Its sort of like "My god didn't exist so nah nah nah nah... yours doesn't either".
