As a fan of both the Dragon Age and Mass Effect franchise, this game has always appealed to me, though I've never gone the full way to actually buying the game. The reason being, I watched some of the films as a kid and while they were fun, I never really connected with them. I didn't learn and appreciate the lore and, while I understand the star wars universe is very deep, from the movies I never really got past the surface.
Today, it's on the humble bundle. So, I'm really tempted. But I'm still hampered by the doubt that I may not be able to identify with it. I'm more into gamrs than movies, so if you give me a story, I'm more likely to identify with it in game form. But does this game assume the player has wide knowledge of the Star Wars universe taken from the films? Would the game be lost on me if I haven't done the prior research before playing it?
Also, while this is a little more off topic, being a humble bundle, there are other star wars games for the price. I understand that some of these are likely to assume knowledge, while others are likely to be a standard format with a star wars skin (Empires at War looks like an example of this). But one (or 2) of the other games on the list that appeal to me are the force unleashed games. So if any of you have played the force unleashed games, I ask the same question, do they assume a knowledge of the universe, and will the games be lost on me if my knowledge on the movies is limited?
