So the thing is... i'm starting my first DA:I character, i'm something like 20 hours in the game, and i decided to go for a rogue archer....

Since i've always played the warrior types i wanted to try something different... it can be a lot of fun but i also feel that it's harder since i'm squishier and not familiar with this kind of gameplay.

Yesterday i was at the Fallow Mire (resque the inquisition soldiers). And i felt like the monsters that come up when you light the beacons were too hard...

I have Iron bull, Cass and Viv in my party, all of them lvl 8, i'm lvl 9... and we were getting rekt, i managed to kill all the monsters without getting wiped but was harded that i thoght it would be... and with the monsters being lvl 8 it felt weird... i don't know if my gear is bad or if i just suck at this game...

Should i use the tactical view A LOT for fights like this one?

Thanks!!

Archers is the easiest run I had on nightmare. The damage is insane, the range is insane and the mobility is insane. No tactical camera needed!

Fellowmire is a ****** to start with. So don't judge your class on that. My tip there are:

Send your team on 1 terror demon, and you go on the other one. Your teammembers should be able to both CC and kill their terror demon, and you should be able to CC yours in between Full Draw and Explosive shot.

But, yeah.- Archers are awesome. ;)

Well, those are pretty hard fights to begin with. Plus, they are level 10.

Archer normally is a pretty good class, so that's definately not a problem. It's fallow mire.

Terror demons fights are generally some of the tougher ones.

And note that you can effectively heal up after every one of those beacon fights in the fallow mire, since they're all waypoints and once you've completed one of them you can just travel to them on the map to get refreshed. So they're presumably supposed to be seriously tough fights that'll use up all your resources, not the sort of attritional fight that'll just scratch you up and maybe make you use a potion.

First I would leave Bull behind and take another Rogue or Mage. Then use some of the grenades and tonics to help with the terror and rage demons. Fire grenades work great on the terrors that jump around. Bees and pitch grenades also can be useful. If you have a 3rd potion slot then have regen potions or even try the rock armor if you have them. Using the tac cam to deploy tonics and grenades and then how much more depends on you.

I did finish the map, but it felt weird how hard the last beacon was :/ even the boss dude with the horns felt easier than fighting 3 lesser terror demons together...

I feel that bull is a pretty good tank, as good as Cass at least, why do you say i should leave him behind and not Cass?

I also like him as a character, and his talks with Viv are hilarious haha.

I would like to have Sera in my team, and i set her skills to be a melee rogue since i'm an archer. Is that ok?

Thanks for all the responses!

I ran on NM with a Warrior, Rogue, and two Mages as a rule for my Archer session; used three Mages and a Warrior for my Mage campaign.

I normally only run with one tank and in general Bull seems to take alot of micro managing. I also think that the AI does poorly with melee rogues so I would spec Sera as an archer unless you want to micro her also. My archer nightmare run on fallow I had Sera(archer), Viv, Cass and fairly easy.  I am doing a 2Handed Warrior and just did Fallow with Sera, Varric and Solus. If you really want to keep Bull I would suggest to set him to defend Cass and maybe turn of Charging so he isn't running half way across the map all the time.

I'm playing a rogue archer too and they are pretty versatile and can do some heavy damage so I would stick with it. It's all about with them positioning so enemies don't get too close to you and of course always have a character than can tank/taunt. Cass and Iron Bull are also my tanks, and both are pretty decent. I found those Fallow Mire fights pretty challenging too as others have said, largely due those Terror Demons that like to jump on ur mages/ranged characters and positioning again to keep them out of harms way along with keeping Cass and/or Bull alive.

It's not you. It's the Follow Mire!

I noticed each beacon gets progressively harder. When you get to the third one, you have two Nightmares to contend with. Most people probably go to the FM pre-Skyhold too, so they do not have the added benefit of focus abilities. When I do the FM, I tend to simply go for the camps, the rifts and the main region quest with the Avvars and then I come back to do the beacons later if I feel like it.

When dealing with the beacons, have someone focus on all the skeleton archers while your tank soaks up the agro from all the melee enemies. The problem with the beacons is you get overwhelmed very easily. Add the nightmares that knock you down, and it's easy to get wiped out.

I played as an Assasin Archer on my last play through and generally went with this set up:

Stealth, poisoned weapons, leaping shot, explosive shot, mark of death, knock-out powder, the Rift focus ability and full draw. I focused on passives that bumped up my dexterity with the occasional passive that bumped cunning. It was a very successful build for me.

Hope this helps. :)

When you face terrors, don't be afraid to immediately stealth. It's what I do to make sure they go on somebody else, so that I can instantly use a controlling ability (I use explosive shot or something that knocks them down) and focus them down. It also helps immensely when there is 2 or more since you can be sure you won't get chainpunted by them, if so a follower but then you are free to stop their pulse. I do feel like they are the worst possible enemies though, even if you keep tabs they make the other enemies harder by their presence.

I play Artificer currently, and I tend to actually go on the offensive - I use hook & tackle to move right on top and stagger it, drop a spike trap right on it and then use leaping shot which typically finishes the Terror demon off before it can do anything.
