W/o Sera you loose a potential agent, no Viv and she can't become Divine. No Iron Bull and you loose several war table missions (there are some with either Chargers or Qunari.) Dorian, Cole, Blackwall nothing major lost by skipping/refusing them, just personal quests. Haven't figured out how to get rid of Varric or Cassandra yet. Solas, meh, sometimes I make friends with him, other I don't - depends on my Quizzy. (Last one was out to rule the world and pretty much stomped on everyone on the way.)

This goes for all companions as all have them.

Which agent you don't get without Sera?

Cassandra won't leave no matter what afaik.

Rejecting Cole was hilarious!  As for Sera I'm kind of torn.  I play a serious character now, bordering on aristocratic arrogance, the exact type that Sera hates, however she is one of the few who greatly approves my decision with the Grey Wardens later on, so that is the only reason I'm considering recruiting her.

I usually recruit them all, simply for any additional content (like personal missions or war table missions) but I usually don't talk to Viv or Sera.  They are just kind of there.  However, I'm doing a Sera romance this time (I'm trying each once) so I'm using her more often.

No. None of the optional companions are tied into the narrative in any way, and there is no segment where you have to switch back and forth between controlling different groups of companions, or parts where all your companions fight, including the ones you're not controlling so there's no reason to have the extra companions aside from you liking that companion and wanting to talk to them or use them in battle.
