Then those people are just dumb. Once you see the level 4 ammo and level 3 everything else, you know ihe\she can carry their own weight.
In theory lv 4 and 3 consumables suggest the ability to pull one's weight but in practice...well let's just say I've seen some people look like they just bought the game even with these perks on silver and bronze.
I play 90% gold games, and my policy is to always start votekick on players with no gear on. I write this because I'm tired of people calling me an ahole for doing it!! Here's my reasoning : To me, its a harbinger of things to come, and they are :
1. the game will be longer than the average 20 mins it takes. (the #1 unnecessary pet peeve of them all)
2. this player is an obvious credit leecher (he's not even trying to hide it)
3. this player will likely not use medi-gel (hoarding consumables)
4. this player will likely quit because they have nothing vested in the game.
5. if there are enough of them, i might end up solo'n the match, and or running around trying to revive them. (extension of #1)
6. these players are revealing themselves as the guy\girl in society that nobody likes.
IMO, there is no reason to NOT have gear on. Level 1 gear is better than NO gear. And I know some of you will say "well what if they're noobs"... then they should be paying their dues in silver\bronze like we all once did! crazy idea right?
I do not mind carrying at all- I just dislike it when people think they pulled one over on me.
A story related to this- I was playing a game once with some guy who had no equipment on. During the game, he kept dying over and over, and I noticed that he wasnt using his gel. This was how the conversation went.
Me: Why aren't you using medi-gel?
Guy: Because I'm out of gel.
Me: It's wave 1.
Guy: No I mean I don't have any gel.
Me: (pause) You went into this game with no gel?
Guy: Yeah.
Me: Why not just buy it like everyone else?
Guy: (pause) (pause) (pause) Because **** you thats why.
Me: Trust me on this... everyone at your job hates you.

It's not a guarantee... but just on the law of damage. more damage = less bullets fire = faster DPS it makes sense.
Yes. I no longer kick myself but I used to when a player didn't use any equipment.

The past year or so leading up to me quitting, I never kicked especially after I maxed my manifest. Carrying the weaker pugs to glory seemed like a fun challenge and if I managed to do so, I felt like a badass and there was the added benefit of helping out people build up their manifest and feeling good about it.
Also I'll iterate what others said in that I didn't give a flying f*ck. With all my URs maxed out, what did I have to lose?
I'll only kick for two reasons.
1 - Taking way too long to ready up, especially if they are host
2 - If the other 2 players have already placed kick votes for understandable reasons (lvl, consumables, etc...)
Other than that, I don't prejudge and I'll play with practically anyone. If it goes south, I'll just quit the lobby and move on.
Pretty much the same here. As long as someone is trying, I probably won't kick them unless for some reason I want to stick with the group and they refuse to ready up until I do. Beyond that, I will kick someone who, is clearly, after playing a match with them, an unashamed leech.
I'm more likely to just leave the lobby myself if I don't like the looks of it.
I've gotten into far too many lag-hosted matches to NOT try host myself from time to time - and nothing irkes me more than level X players with level 1 weapons and no gear joining and insta-ready'ing - but not as much as people with scores that make you think they should know better, yet also can't be bothered to equip some gear. Far less rep earned if in doing so they also have stupid weapon combos.
I don't mind giving people the benefit of the doubt if they remotely look like they're making an effort (ie. you don't have to be rocking perfect builds with perfect X weapons and perfect mods so long as it's clear you're going to pitch in some effort) - but leechers and/or lazy cretins wasting my consumes so they can save theirs, or clearly joining Plat lobbies looking for credit boosts with their shiny new accounts -- well, they can take a long walk off a nuked Palaven rather than waste my time - because enough of it gets wasted by pure chance and non-existent machmaking as it is.
I agree fully with that. I would at least send a message first though, to ask them to wear stuff. If they do not comply, G-G-G-GOODBYE!

I agree with you, but I do not kick because when I played on ps3 after maxing my manifest on xbox I woulda killed a man if someone let me leech in gold games, so I remembered what it is like playing with shitting stuff and let leechers leech off of my credits, just to help them out. If its platinum I would feel differently, even then I do not kick that often

As for people constantly dying... If I see other people who are either totally not ready for gold, or totally dishonest, I'll simply leave the lobby before the next game, if I survive. I'm still not good enough to carry an entire game.
