Mass Effect was never a "one time thing". That's the single stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Bioware has built a really great sci-fi universe with interesting lore and massive potential, why wouldn't anyone want an ME4? And an ME5? Hell I'm hoping we get a movie and TV series one day. Mass Effect as a franchise has a lot of potential and will hopefully go well beyond the original trilogy.

Yeah it is pretty apparent the OP was a little small minded in their thinking.  You don't build an entire fictional universe with all this lore and substance and just discard it after one story arc.  That would be stupid and a waste of potential.

I really don't get it
ME was always about Shepard and his crew and the threat of the reapers

As far as I'm concerned Shepard is very much secondary in the Mass Effect Universe. He's barely a catalyst for the story we were told. The ME Universe is rich with good ideas and is as good a playground as any to run a sci-fi RPG campaign.

This isn't DA where every game has a new protagonist or AC with every game in a new time period
I always felt like ME was a one time thing

Shepard was a one time thing, the Mass Effect universe is larger than that.

Apart from that they really rushed ME3 in my opinion and screwed the whole Trilogy as a result
(The terrible Beginning, Priority Earth, Crucible, The terrible ending, the auto dialogue, screwing the ME2 squad as a few popular examples)

And I know many are not satisfied with it so why are even those excited for ME4? Are all the empty promises and failure's just forgotten?

Of course if you liked ME3 then this doesn't apply to you

I do not care for ME3. This game has pretty much ruined the ME trilogy for me as I haven't played any ME games since.

Hence why I'm neither psyched nor anxious to see a next ME games.

However I do like RPGs, I do like Sci-Fi, I do like the ME universe, so... in a world with nil upcoming sci-fi RPGs, I'm curious to see what they can do.

Right now Bioware isn't at it's best when continuing or finishing a storyline, but they did good work when starting from scratch. Maybe they'll do good with this new story.

What you say is logical but someone really should have told Casey and Mac this before they trashed the universe.

Imagine if there was only Dragon Age Origins. Why people were excited for Dragon Age 2? It's the same really, a new game in a universe that people like. Like new Star Wars or LotR/Hobbit movie.

Had I known how DA2 would turn out i'd have been happy with DAO and just let it go.

ME4 with Red, Green or Blue?

High, medium, or low EMS?

With or without Quarians?  Geth?  Krogan?

In other words: which Mass Effect?

Except they didn't seeing as how there is still a lot of interest in the franchise otherwise there wouldn't be another ME game in development.

Depending on just how long after ME3 the game is, Liara, Grunt, Wrex* and EDI are probably the only squadmates you'll have a chance of seeing in ME4.

*I'm still under the assumption Krogan are immortal in the sence that they do not die of old age. Until there is definitive proof that this isn't the case, I'm keeping Wrex in there.

There's at least one Krogan in the game that got well over a 1000 years old and who ultimately found his death in unnatural ways, like every other Krogan. I'm speaking of Okeer, of course, survivor of the Krogan Rebellions. Wrex is about 300 years younger, if I am correct. (Wrex is 700 years old, at least, as evidenced by Citadel DLC)

At least the Asari have a lifespan with an end, the Krogan, as far I'm aware, don't ;)

EDIT:
Apparantly, Okeer is like 2000 years old:
http://www.reddit.co...ow_old_is_wrex/

So yeah, I'm going to keep Wrex in there, if you don't mind :P even thought the claim that Okeer fought in the Rachni Wars is a bit iffy. That he fought in the Krogan rebellions is not up for debate, the game flat out tells you this:

http://masseffect.wi...er:_The_Warlord

EDIT2:
How the hell I forgot about EDI is beyond me, but unless someone destroyed her/turned her power off ( :P), she's definetly going to be around.

It's a date!   ;)

Mass Effect is good Sci Fi.  I don't even know why you still post here Iakus you have been whining nonstop for  three years straight now.  Move on already and leave those of us that love this series alone already.  Go to forums of game you actually like instead.  Posting the same whiney crap three years after the fact isn't going to get them to change ending of ME 3 or how the rest of the game was made.  ME 3 isn't changing it is what it is.  Either you like it or you don't but either way it isn't changing.  At this point you are just so bitter because they didn't tailor the last chapter of the series to all of your little whims that you are just determined to troll them to punish them somehow.  Talk about being narcissistic, bitter, and unable to move on.

If you have suggestions for the new ME game than that is fine but you don't do that you just whine about the franchise in general.

I really dislike people who think like this.  Forums should harbor discussions of all kind.  And if people are still frustrated about the ending three years after it occurred then maybe that just shows how much Bioware ****ed up.  He's obviously not alone as you can tell by my sig.  If we wish to stay here and tell Bioware exactly what we think then we should be able to do so.  Especially without you being a forum dictator and insulting us.  Not like it matters.  Bioware doesn't even frequent these forums anymore.  I doubt Bioware even pays attention to anything any of us say on here, whether it be positive or negative.  They probably all visit sites like Reddit or something for the actual feedback.  Which is stupid in and of itself.  So that whole point is moot.

Actually they do just go onto the twitter thread, though most of the time they are reading comments rather than posting on the forums.

I'm with you man we bought the games so why shouldn't we be able to criticize them?
I loved the ME series but they fucked up with ME3 (especially the ending) and that just can't be forgotten only because a new ME is coming

@kottor effect basically wants this forum to be inhabited by fanboys

lol of course bioware visits reddit where the haters get downvoted to hell then there are no negative opinions about their games

I just visited the DA sub reddit and its circlejerking at its finest

I really dislike people who think like this.  Forums should harbor discussions of all kind.

Is it a discussion anymore? The Question was asked, answers were given. Then the question was restated and more answers given. It goes round and round in circles with nothing accomplished except argument for arguments sake. Bioware's not getting anything out of it because nothing new is being presented, or suggested. Just the same camps coming out to fight again just because they have to defend their positions, and make the same points.

So before anyone posts another thread or even comments in this one, allow me to borrow from Babylon 5 and ask you some questions.

Who are you?

What do you want?

Why are you here?

Where do you think this 'Discussion' is going?

I think a lot of us are hoping they come up with some good plot ideas to repair the damage ME3's ending did to the franchise.

I'd like to see a time travel type storyline where you go back to events in the first 3 games and can change things and jump forward in time and see the results. Many would like to play one of the other races as a main character.

The DragonAge games have shown Bioware can make choices matter and endings different. ME3 was a blunder that lives on in infamy...

Actually most people interest in a new mass effect game is because they want more ME and nothing else. As for choices in ME3 they did matter most notable in the genophage and rannoch arc, it's just some choices were handled better than others.

I cannot even begin to count how many people have claimed your decisions in DA:I mean absolutely nothing.

I'm absolutely convinced by now some people are just here to complain about anything, really.
