Pugging Perilous is a short guide series I'm releasing to help players make their first jump into Perilous mode. The builds will be focused around NOT having the best gear or teammates.

Skills
Barrier
Your Class Special. Just super OP in every single way. Makes Perilous a joke. Cast it on a Katari and then mix yourself a drink. You will be quite tanky with this build, so don't be afraid to position yourself to get the maximum number of allies barriered, each person you hit can substantially reduce the cool down.
Fadecloak
Your evade. By far the best dodge in the game. Gives you INVULNERABILITY so you don't get hit by stray sweep/AoE attacks. Removes all CC when it's used including fear and knockdown. Can pass through enemies. To top it all off you can explode for 1000%WD (combos really well with the way enemies stack up inside the Disruption Field).
Chain Lightning
Your damage spell. 1500%WD on an 8 second cooldown. Light control as it staggers all enemies it hits. The only downsides are it only hits single targets for 250%WD and will run you out of mana very quickly (Restoritive Veil helps significantly when combined with Disruption Field). Synergizes well with Clean Burn and Fadecloak to decrease your cool downs on Barrier and Disruption Field.
Disruption Field
Your heavy control spell. While Static Cage is very strong against melee enemies, Disruption Field has the advantage of a shorter cool-down, longer duration, and effectively blocking missile attacks. Disruption Field also has some very nice synergy with Fadecloak, enemies who enter the field will stack on top of each other, making it very easy to hit multiple enemies with fadecloak. Since ranged enemies generally prove to be the biggest threat in perilous, I would recommend Disruption Field.

Playstyle
Stay alive and keep your team mates alive. Get some damage in with chain lightning and your staff. The hardest part about playing this build will be knowing where to place your disruption field. If its a ranged heavy wave, stay near cover and use disruption field to protect your back line. If it's a melee heavy wave, rush up and get your Disruption Field/Fadecloak combo on as many enemies as possible. Make sure your melee DPS classes (Alchemist, Assasin, Katari, Reaver) have barrier as often as possible so they can actuary stay in the fight and do damage.
