I feel like these huge decisions are foolishly made by game developers all the time based on feedback on forums.

Just because a lot of people are saying something on a forum doesn't mean it's the majority consensus, or it's a profitable idea to listen to them.

The recent change to the Demon Commander in Multiplayer is a prime example of this. All the players on my friends list are HATING this, it makes the MP way too easy, and we're likely going to stop playing because of it.

You listened to a bunch of idiots who had no idea what they were talking about, and now you're facing the consequences.

It's the same reason why Judges and even Lawmakers don't listen to the majority of the public, because usually it's safe to say they're all wrong.

The only thing that even made it fun to continue playing long enough to get high stats from promotions, or get the best gear from the RNG... was the difficulty, especially of the boss fights at the end.

Now the demon commander is retardedly easy to beat because his signature attack now does no damage at all. He's a big wet paper bag now.

So basically they nerfed a boss? Okay. Was this a thing lots of people wanted? It sounds like it was.

I also dislike the nerf to DC. It never seemed over powered to me, and even if it was, why was that a problem? There are two other easy factions to fight, nothing wrong with the third being a bit harder.

Hopefully they add some harder content to multiplayer soon.

It was hardly even asked here on these boards obviously someone saw a problem with it and toned it down. I heard it can still wipe most pugs. I think you're hunting the wrong witches.

a lot of those types of idiots who will go onto the reviews for Donkey Kong Country Returns and cry "it's too hard!!!" like WTF? that's the entire point of the game

and it USED TO be the point of Dragon Age

that's because online gaming is full of idiots who don't know how to play a game, let alone this game.

you'd know that if you played ANY other online game EVER.

Play a pvp game then where you can farm those idiots. I did it for many years on Daoc. I'm done with that life now. Pve bosses will never extend my e dong again however.

Honestly try doing a search.. I have seen more post topics whining about him getting nerfed by PvE pros lol then post topics about him being too strong by the casuals who he was wiping.

Whenever I was in a pug that would lose too him nobody except the maybe the occasional try hard would ever rage most people's reaction to him were lol ouch.

That boss was brutal enough to dissuade new players from ever playing the MP again. It could IK the majority of low-lvl classes on routine difficulty for crying out loud :D This nerf was certainly too much though, because the boss is indeed a joke now.

Also this is hardly the reason "hardcore" players are leaving MP and if it is, it is a ******-poor reason. It doesn't change a thing for them, the boss was easy for them before and is easy for them still. AW could solo it before the patch just as easily as he can solo it now. There are many more pressing issues with the MP (region locks, bugs, CTDs, rng, no new content, no balance changes, almost zero communication with the devs - that one is getting better though, after 3 months... etc) than one nerf to a boss :D

I'm not happy to hear that the DC got nerfed.  To be honest, I find the Venatori and Red Templar Commanders to be way too easy.  I liked the challenge of the DC since he was way overpowered compared to the other bosses.  That being said, his nerf is not enough to make me stop playing MP.  Frankly, the lack of interesting things to do is what made me stop playing MP.  Once I unlocked everyone and upgraded my 'main' characters, it's kind of dull anyway.  This is kind of a neutral thing for me.  Not great, but certainly not enough to effect behavior change.

I agree with you, Bioware shouldn't even have implemented MP in the first place, instead they listened to fans like you and spent almost 2 years developing the multiplayer.  MP does not belong in Dragon Age, maybe as an optional DLC, but it shouldn't have taken resources away from the single player campaign.

What they need to do IMHO is implement some perilous level only super hard boss encounters for people to stroke their e peens

Are you sure that it has taken resources from SP? Because in the case of ME3 it didn't, it was developed by a 2nd team and it was awesome. Mb BW thought they could do it again, but they messed up and I wonder why. Imo the MP team was understaffed with smaller budget allocated to them (just like the QA department, the community managing department and the team working on patches).

Lag and desync usually killed me on DC. Not incompetence, but I thank you for reminding me why the forums are toxic. Try hards blame "idiots" enough for groups wiping. Not the net coding that allows DC to kill you in one attack even if you were mid sprint and on your screen out of the Telegraphed attack. Please tell me why games are ruined by feedback..

So your friends list somehow has more people that play DAI than DAI forums?

So you got upset over what happened, and now you're going to keep making angry threads and whinging until someone gives you what you want? Which is exactly what you are complaining in this thread about BioWare responding to? I can't see why someone wouldn't take you seriously with that kind of consistency.

I cannot say for certain but if they had to create a separate team consisting of staff from both DA and ME, then I don't think it's a stretch to assume that they took resources from SP.  I'm not blaming MP for SP problems but that is their business decision.  ME3 MP was surprisingly alright, I think it's because it's basically the same mechanics and maps and enemies, so perhaps the adaptation was simpler.

Anyways, my point was that OP's assumption that forum feedback caused Bioware to nerf a boss does not make sense.  There are much mroe pressing issues from a far more vocal group of fans regarding PC issues like the UI, skill bar, party banter, etc, that seems to get ignored.  BW is obvously putting priority in MP as you can see from their patch notes so it's no surprise that MP is constantly being balanced.  I WISH bioware would take forum culture and feedback more seriously.

Ok, go play dark souls then. No, seriously - look at the MP model: you get credits for playing the game, and you can then go buy a spectre pack once you have saved up enough. With luck, you might eventually be able to get the random drop you were really looking forward to.*

At no point does this multiplayer mode ever depend on actual gameplay - you could swap it for a cross world puzzle and it would keep the audience captivated just as well.

* note that making the game harder means that fewer people will be trapped in this gear treadmill, which means less money for bioware

Well, BSNers love to follow this logic:

Bioware should do what they want to do and stop pandering to fans, unless what they want to do isn't what I want them to do, then they should pander to me.

The strange part is assuming that the size of the total DA team will remain constant no matter what the production plan is. It's strange to assume that because we know it to be false; people move back and forth between teams at Bio all the time, and Bio total staffing levels are flexible.
