I gotta play DA2 again, in order for me to get a deeper understanding into Samson's character.

I put together a playlist of Aussie rock/punk songs that might fit his character/story arc.

I'd like to know what Samson was up to after the ending of DA2, I assumed he was a high ranking templar (if reinstated by Hawke) is there anything in books or comics about him?

Didn't they say that amongst the chaos of the battle between the mages and templars that Samson rescued Maddox and gathered the remaining Templars to rebel against the Chantry?

I just loved how Samson turned to the darkside. I think it was a genius move from Bioware to make someone from dragon age 2 who had a small role, and change him into a villainous role. I hope they do this with a character from Dragon Age Inquisition. Imagine if they took fan favorite Scout Harding and change her into a villainous dictator for the inquisition to battle in a future expansion, or in the next dragon age game (Although I would much rather have her as a romance option). I wonder who from inquisition they could turn to the darkside. Maybe a recruitable agent, or imagine it being horse master Dennet. You never know, I mean again I never would have came up with what they did with Samson in Dragon Age Inquisition.

I always felt that Samson was one foot away to becoming a villain, mainly because of his addiction to lyrium. When you first meet him, it looked like he would do anything for his next fix. Though Samson was loyal to the Templars to the point where asked to be reinstated, I felt that whoever offered him the most lyrium, he would instantly join without hesitation. Harding on the hand, It would be out of character for her to be villainess all of a sudden. She doesn't really show signs of dissafiscation or disillusionment with the Inquisition.

You have a good point. Is there someone else that you think would better fit that kind of role?

Maybe, but I'm really refering to a side character with a smaller role, kinda like how it was for Samson. Hmm tough one for me to come up with.

Its a long shot but maybe Krem. He/she is a side character to the Iron Bull so maybe in a future dlc and/or expansion something can happen to Krem that turns him/her against the inquisition and/or the Iron Bull? Maybe in Iron Bulls side mission Krem didn't die in the non Tal-Vashoth version?

So yea that's my idea. You guys can respond to my idea, and maybe some can make a thread of who they would like to see become a future villain. Someone that one that no one would have originally thought due to having a smaller role in DAI, DAO or DA2. I don't want to derail the subject of the thread. Overall I loved the Samson villain idea because I never expected it, and I hope Bioware does it for another character soon.

Personally I've always feel that the line between Samson & Cullen as antagonist-protagonist is very very thin. As many people had mused already, Cullen could've been the antagonist & Samson the Commander. They are not the same character, not the same personality, but for me it's circumstances that bring all the differences: when Cullen got the chance to be approached by Cassandra, Samson got approached by Cory... As much as I am a huge Cullen fan, I can imagine him in Samson's place, being the Red Templar general. IIRC even Cullen got scared on how close he was on becoming one himself.
If Cass approached Samson indeed, let's say for his more mage-sympathyzing POV for example? Or Idk, any reason (I'm sure that we can actually find good stuffs about him if the game let us explore more of his character), would he be the one leading the Inquisition's Force in Cullen's stead?
Is it purely luck that bring Cullen as Protagonist instead of bringing him down as Villain, and Samson as the Antagonist instead of a hero?

Just to clarify: Krem = him/he.
Since Krem and the chargers can die, and there's not many people outside of the Inquisition that you meet... I have a hard time thinking of a secondary character that would be promoted to baddie primary character? Even the Sutherland Company wants to do good things. It really depends on who the antagonist in DA4 will be.

I think because the choice might have come down to Cassandra; she could have seen that Cullen was more capable of handling himself outside of the Order, whereas Samson had shown that he was not capable of the same thing.
Does anyone know when she and Cullen discuss him stopping the use of lyrium? If it's before he joined the Inquisition, she might have gotten a sense that he could handle the transition, that he had that inner strength and determination. Cassandra would have known that Cullen failed to break under the desire demon at the Ferelden Circle, and managed to hold it together for ten years in Kirkwall. He also opposed Meredith when she called for the Right of Annulment (although Samson will also join you for that fight if you let him re-join the Templars).
Samson continually let his need for lyrium cloud his true intentions (saving mages - not truly caring about the ships that take them, ousting Meredith with Thrask - he snitches to Cullen and gets excited at rejoining the order for all the lyrium he can quaff), and Cassandra could have seen that as a weakness of character. While I don't doubt Samson's compassion, he just never seemed to catch the attention of people who could have nurtured it, and instead caught the attention of people who took advantage of it. His compassion mixed with his, maybe, pragmatism or pessimistic outlook from living in Lowtown for a decade, helped him make some dark decisions.
Even in his judgement speech, he doesn't become a General for power (although I'm sure someone who's been beaten down does enjoy being powerful for a while). He was willing to lead them down the only path he saw, to give them some kind of purpose, which I believe is his compassion showing itself again.
I think Cassandra would have valued someone with the inner-strength that Cullen showed, over the compassion that Samson showed. If someone else, say Leliana, chose - they might have valued his compassion more.

This is too vague for me to reply. Perspective of what? His gender?
