Did someone say thirst? *pretends that this thirsty cat gif is actually thought provoking, intelligent meta about Samson*

Art so nice we posted it twice! The thirst is strong in this thread.
A mighty thirst indeed.
A mighty thirst?
haha
Thank you. ![]()
Hey Bioware, is it too much to ask for a Samson DLC? Or at least a nice, extended appearance of our beloved templar? Anything to quench our thirst here! o/
A mighty thirst indeed.
We got to romance Cullen in the third game we meet him in. Does that mean DA4 can have a have a Samsonmance?

Thirsty cat is pondering Samson's Origin story, "just where did this guy come from? Is he a Kirkwall native?"

To be honest I find Samson's character rather interesting, than his looks attractive, but if Bioware would give us a Samson-romance DLC, then "Hey, I'm game! "
I've been preoccupied with rl matters, but one thing I've been mulling over is the description of Samson's fondly remembered fish and egg pie, from the DA wiki entry on Starkhaven: "...with its most famous dish being fish and egg pie. It is made with three deboned fresh fish, boiled eggs, dried fruit, spices, and thickened cream, topped with a light crust."
I'm intrigued, but also mildly grossed out, as narrow-minded as that might sound.

... I think I could make that, though...

Like... are the eggs whole? I've had a couple of ethiopian dishes with whole, hardboiled eggs in them and it's damn hard to eat. I wonder if the eggs are whole and then you're supposed to mash them up?
Funnily enough, Knight-captain Rylen talks about fish and egg pie, too - once you capture Griffon Wing Keep. He's from Starkhaven (land of Scottish accents).
My husband and I like to cook, so we're going to make fish and egg pie according to this recipe: http://www.bbc.co.uk...ewithhar_87808 It sounds very rich, and not really up my alley, but who cares? Maybe after tasting it, I'll think" 'Whoa, this could use some dried fruit!"
@ Tigrae- the recipe linked above requires hard boiled eggs, and yeah. I am now reminded of Ethiopea's doro wat, a chicken stew w/ hard boiled eggs.
I've been Googling it - it looks basically like shepard's pie but with fish in a white sauce instead of a beef/lamb in a red sauce.
This one actually has a crust instead of a tater-topping: http://thebaldgourme...oper-fish-pies/

This pie requires capers, and I have seen and made a few recipes that required both capers and golden raisins. So that helps my head canon- the pie is the one you linked to, and the dried fruit in Starkhaven's fish and egg pie is golden raisins.
Now I can feel like something significant, lore-wise, has been accomplished today. No really- sh!t like this bugs me, and I have to puzzle it out for my sanity.

Please report in with your fish and egg pie results, for science, of course. I wonder if the Marchers just call it "fish and egg pie" to make it sound so gross no one else eats them, which means more for them.
I bet the golden raisins would fit in well, even carrots - sort of like Indian biryani, but in a savory pie.
I'm sort of guessing it's something comforting to him, and being of Scots descent I have to say, it's really couldn't be worse than haggis (which I don't mind).
Black pudding on the other hand... *shudders*
I was curious: is black pudding is different than morcilla (spanish blood sausage)? I'm in the US so I haven't found it anywhere - but I can get morcilla and it's delicious. Is black pudding straight up blood, or does it have other ingredients like rice and onion like morcilla?
It's meat, blood and I think oatmeal. It's usually made with pigs blood, and I really detest pork.
Also how do you get the thing that neutralises Samson's armour? Is that through Cullen's side missions? (Somehow I seemed to have missed them on 2 pt's)
Yep it's through Cullen's quests. The quests do help take Sammy down a peg in that fight, but he's still tough.
Yes I did the fight last night so I could take screenies. It was very hard. Very very.
Believe me, all those little deaths were worth it.
If you can do the quest line with Cullen, I recommend it! You can meet someone from Samson's past who's been helping him, which also unlocks a line of dialogue in his judgement (and makes the fight a little easier), and gives you another option for what you can do with him for his judgement.
One thing for sure, Is that I don't share Samson's taste in food.
