I remember that Calpernia said this and I guess she did not lie. Doesn't mean she is going to fight until her end so maybe she is still alive. With Samson we do not have the option to turn him against Corypheus like we can do with Calpernia - but that only is because she feels betrayed by him. But there is nothing comparable for Samson - Corypheus did not betray him. Samson and his templars are on a suicide run while Calpernia has plans for the future.
I do think that Samson can come to his mind while staying at the Inquisition and maybe regain even trust in the inquisition or the inquisitor.
While I understand their hate and fighting against the chantry I would really like to know how they felt while turning civilians into red lyrium and if some red templars maybe refused to do this to others. Even if they hate the chantry there are people who have nothing to do with the decisions of the chantry and not all people in the chantry are in a position to make decisions.
It's like anyone with deep deep distrust in these institutions. They don't really view the people as individuals anymore and/or they have to work hard to remove that individuality from people so they can justify their actions. Samson calls the Inquisitor "Inquisition". For someone as compassionate as Samson, it was likely a necessary coping mechanism so he could forget that the people he was killing were people with real lives and hopes. It's easier to attack a "faceless" institution.
Samson knows what he did was wrong and ugly. By the time he's brought back for judgment he's fully broken under the weight of what he has become.
