Nigtmare: "Warden-Commander Cousland, The Hero of Fereldan. Legendary Grey Warden who stopped the blight in record time and lived to bask in its glory. Did you sleep comfortably with your lady in waiting while your nephew and his mother were slaughtered in the other room? Is that the real reason you did not continue to search for your brother Fergus, to avoid telling him you failed to save the entire Cousland family? Can you really protect Morrigan and Kieran? I wonder does Kieran exist because you love Morrigan or because you weren't ready for the "In Death, Sacrifice" part of the Warden Oath."

Warden: "Can I get you ladder? So you can get off my back."

Maybe similar stuff the guardian of the Gauntlet said to our Warden in DA:O? Only in a provocative tone.

The death of so many at Amaranthine (Awakening) would be used as a taunt I am sure.

"Warden Commander Cousland..* cory clears his throat sounding embarassed* You were not contented with devirginizing a son of a king and tenting him again and again. That IRS mod is so disgusting that rocked the core even my evilest of evil being. You damned humanity by accepting the ritual, just so you can do him again and again in a proper bed with a crown on your head. ... was it worth it Warden Cousland?"

Warden: oohh yes...

"You let him die, you should have told him no... Even your clan blames you..."

"You murdered the Werewolves, innocent victims... All for the sake of your own fickle kind..."

"You're as twisted as the maleficar you fight against... You let Jowan murder Isolde simply to save time..."

"You doomed the Dwarven people by destroying the Anvil... It was there only chance to hold back the Blight, and you destroyed it for the sake of petty freedoms..."

"Morrigan will die... Just as Tamlen did, just as everyone you have ever cared about will soon meet their new God..."

"You betrayed your best friend... Alistair would have had Loghain die... You spared the man who all but destroyed your own Order..."

"Are you even fit to be called an Elf? For over nine years you have ruled Amaranthine and the Wardens... Do you even remember the meaning of those markings on your face?"

"Your overconfidence will be your undoing Commander... You let Vigil's Keep stand alone... Anders' death was your fault..."

Hawke: "Actually, I'm pretty sure that was me"

Letting Bhelon get away with it for the good of House Aeducan. Keeping the anvil of the void. His secret fear of the sky. Ignoring his mother she said 'if you keep making that face it will be stuck like that forever.'

Warden commander Cousland, Hero of ferelden. So much pain and suffering to have fought so hard to save the world from Blight, yet you couldnt save your own family, your son doesnt know about you, your lover left you for her love to a false god and a pathetic religion. Everyone you care about and love will all leave your side and soon you are all alone, in a world filled with darkness and despair and You will die alone unmourned and unloved. Everything was in vain!.

Danier Cousland: As long as my friends and countrymen has a shear drop of faith in me, i will never give up. Besides im a warden this is what we do.

Nightmare would do best to taunt my Tabris over the mostly unchanged conditions for Elves. While she has all this political power, she works in the interests of the Grey Wardens, and to expand their lifespans.

But what has she done for the alienages recently?

It would accuse Mahariel of having become the shems' lapdog as Warden-Commander, and that not even his status as HoF can help him save his people.

Warden: Show yourself, demon. Then we'll talk about fear.

Ah, the hero of ferelden, the legendary warden that defeated the 5th blight. Tell me, did you feel heroic when others died to save you on your wedding day? Did you feel like a hero when you entered Vaughns chamber and found Shianni broken and sobbing at his feet? Where was the great hero of Fereldan when the Alienage burned for the crimes she committed?  Where was she when her neighbours friends and family were sold and shipped of like cattle? You weren't there. You couldn't save any of them. You are no hero. You are nothing more than a coward that lets others pay the price for her actions.

Leliana will die, your friends will die, what little remains of your family will di,e Fereldan will be thrown into chaos, all you ever cared about will be destroyed and you can't do anything about it. You never could. *evil chuckle*

~*~*~ just Amell things ~*~*~

  • your birth destroyed your family and drove them to the slums
  • you trusted a blood mage and you deserve to be rotting in Aeonar
  • your first love can't stand to look at you and your face will only ever remind him of demons
  • as soon as Alistair finds a woman good enough to be his queen, he'll be out of your life forever, and the history books will remember their love, not yours
  • you only have three or four friends left and one of them would be perfectly happy to see your eyes gouged out and your mouth sewn shut
  • the Maker will damn you for letting an Old God live just to save your own hide

Depends on the warden but on some of my wardens nightmare wouldn't have anything because all they cared were themselves neither they felt bad about lives they crushed for own profit or entertainment but in most of that cases my warden wouldn't even stick with wardens in first place.

Even for wardens who only care about themselves I'm sure the nightmare could find something to get under their skin. How about:

Ah, the great hero of Fereldan. You ended the fifth blight and rose to power yourself. You have achieved many of your goals. But I know your darkest fears. I know about the whispering voices in the back of your head. The voices that scratch at your mind stil faint but undeniably present nonetheless. The haunting song that grows louder every single day. Can you already feel the oily, black corruption flow through your veins? Tell me hero, how long do you still have? How long until the whispering becomes deafening? How long until it strips you of your mind and turns you into an empty shell? Weeks? Months? A year? Not much longer I wager.

You will loose everything you accomplished, you will loose yourself and nothing of you will remain, but memories and rotten, corrupted flesh.

For my female Surana:

"Ah, the great Hero of Ferelden. Vanquisher of the Blight, Warden Commander of Ferelden, and mage without peer. I suppose I should be trembling in the wake of such power. But I know what you are. A coward, clinging at any attempt to slink away from your fate. You needed Alistair to save your life because you were afraid. Afraid of the uncertainty that would follow your damnation.

But even then, you cannot prevent that fate, can you? For all your futile, pathetic efforts at preserving your wretched life, you still hear it, don't you? In the back of your mind, playing music through your skull? When Leliana was grieving, needing for you, you were nowhere to be found. You failed her. Now, soon, you will never be there for her again. And she shall die, like all the rest. You will fail them too."

Warden: "Maybe. But at least I'll die with the satisfaction of shutting you up."

Everyone has such great comeback dialogue for their Warden...Mine would be deeply unnerved, probably too unnerved to say much of anything.

Well it could be good if not one thing as i said that wardens were very prone to sacrificing others for own benefit (for example they did that to city elves) and most of them spared avernus so calling shouldn't be problem for them in fact that whole quest to cure their condition is character breaking for such wardens.

"Warden-Commander Amell.

They call you a "Hero"... but you're not are you? You're a liar, a fraud, a hypocrite!

All those deaths in Redcliffe on your shoulders. Oh, you saved the townspeople in the end, they built a statue and even named a tavern after you! But I know the truth, you could have ended it before it ever began. If you had stopped Jowan at the Tower, he would have never had the chance to poison Arl Eamon and dear, sweet, little Connor would never had needed to come to one of my ilk to make that deal... you could have stopped it all. But you didn't, did you? All that pain, all that suffering, all that death... with you as it's architect? I must admit, I am impressed!

You were supposed to die. "In Death, Sacrifice"... but you chose to cheat death and forsake your duty. Duncan would be ashamed. The other Wardens hate you, you know that don't you? I hear them in their dreams, asking how did he survive the Archdemon, when all other's perished? Do they want to know your dirty little secret, the one you bore with your dirty little swamp-witch?

But spitting on the values of your order is not new to you, is it? It's why Corypheus didn't surprise you as much as he should have? A talking Darkspawn with powers that had never been seen before in any tainted creature? You always suspected that he couldn't be the only one?

When your lies catch up with you, you will wish you had stayed on the other side of that mirror..."

Ahh… Kallian Tabris, the fabled hero of Ferelden.  Still fighting to save your precious home, I see…  But it wears down on you, doesn’t it? Knowing no matter how much you do, the humans will always look down upon you and your people. Do you think it will ever be better? Do you think elves will ever stand beside human as equals?  [laugh] You stopped the blight in Ferelden, saving the world from destruction. And yet, despite all these sacrifices, what have you accomplished? Nothing! Your people still suffer from the same injustices as they always have and nothing will ever change that.

Shianni’s death was your fault, you made her Bann of the alienage during your absence, you made her a target, she died trying to fulfill your vision and she died in vain!

[small pause]

Once I am successful here, I shall tear your Alistair apart, I shall burn your Denerim to the ground… Your failure shall be complete.

[Tabris doesn’t answer back, but looks and sounds clearly distressed]

"They call you the Hero of Ferelden, but to whom are you a hero? Did any of your actions truly better the lives of your fellow city elves? When you lie in bed with your redheaded shemlen ******, do you ever reflect on how far you have left them behind?"

It would probably be related to Leliana leaving her. My Mahariel's ties were mostly cut in the sense of leaving the clan made her sort of grow into other things, even if she misses it, but Leliana is her anchor in this brave new world.

As for the nightmare thing, i can't think of anything worse for me. Its representative theme is what I have a mild phobia to. <.< So hard to get past that.

True enough. My exampe does not work for every possible Warden. It is ultimately irrelevant though. Every human being has fears. Even evil a*sface Wardens without any redeemable qualities or positive emotions whatsoever and the Nighmare knows them all. He would have something to mock the Warden with in any case.
