i just payed 70 euro for the collector´s edition and errors like this makes the game unplayable.

i want a refund, i should know better after the disaster the old republic was to trust bioware/EA again.

I still get the dx error on my PC. I have to under clock my awesome 650 ti by -49 just to be able to play. Although my video card is a little wimpy. My PC is well within the recommended specs. Much more powerful than a Xbox one , yet the game runs way smoother on my console.

I learned this trick from bf4 players on YouTube who had the same issue. It seems they knew about this issue from long ago and still went ahead and used this engine. Not cool!, but other than that the game ran great.

It's not a case of fixing the crap... it's a case of making it more broken, in these parts. ;)

Anyway, welcome to the club... have a seat. Have a drink, stay a while... engage in the beauty of the snarky comments and BW cynicism.

I had this problem and did some snooping on various forums. I've managed to avoid all further crashes by playing the game in full screen borderless window mode and adjusting post process quality to low. I know it's not ideal, but hopefully it will help. Lowering the post process just gets rid of the depth of field effect during cutscenes and doesn't effect in-game graphics at all. You need to do both, as doing one change or the other in isolation doesn't stop the crashes.

I'm using an overclocked 770 and I get no CTDs or errors. What graphic settings are you using?

They are working at it. Together with Microsoft.

It's not so bad. If I'm lucky it doesn't crash during solving the astrarium puzzles.

Does the error message say something about badly formed commands? And does it happen only during cutscene? It's an issue a lot of people are having including me yet neither nvidia nor bioware seem to care.

Nvidia is aware of the issue and it's on the list of unresolved issues in the driver documentations. I assume the problem lies with BioWare optimizing DA:I for AMD's Mantle instead of concentrating on DirectX (which most people use), simply because both next gen consoles run on AMD hardware.

That being said, I'm using a GTX770 (factory OC), Win7 (DirectX 11) and the latest Nvidia driver and I do not have any crashes or technical issues, with a stable framerate of ~50fps at ultra/high settings.

From a technical point of view, DA:I runs perfectly for me. Maybe people need to take a closer look at their hardware or background processes or whatever. Perhaps tinker a bit with the graphic settings, both ingame and in the driver itself. There certaintly is an issue (I got the DirectX error and CTD when everything was set to ultra) but I don't know if the people affected by it have tried everything on their side to find a solution yet.

Since the last patch I seem to be getting the Direct X issue at least twice a day whereas I was only getting it maybe once a week. This really needs to be fixed!!!!

Error I just had was:

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE-HUNG

Then some detail about it being due to poorly worded commands from the game

Yea, im still getting them as well... Sometimes i get the actual Error box decription, sometimes i dont.. But you hear that telltale "Ding" in the backround, everytime!

Even had CTD during multiplayer matches again today.. Lost all progress, gold, exp, etc.. Which is odd, since it happened after the match finished... But before it had a chance to finish loading into the screen where it shows what you got during the match.. Very annoying!

Somtimes CtD at the begin.

My sys:  gtx 780ti / i5 4670 / 16gb ram / z87-A / and Play on 27' 2k Monitor.(plus 24' fullhd Monitor)

Hey Bioware if anyone is listening this is really getting annoying. It's not just the error but lost progress and going through the painful load times etc. to start playing again. I have been playing 60 minutes today and have had two DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE-HUNG errors.

The majority of these (approx 75%) happen at the War Table and the others are nearly always during or after a cut scene. My last one was when Varric is getting Cole to shoot the Templar with Bianca at Redcliffe.

Can you please put some more pressure on the card providers and get us a solution!!!!

OK this is starting to get really stupid now.

Just had the crash 3 times in a row nd all on the same war table mission to find the Venatori Spies which involves Tallis in particular the 3rd stage when you choose to investigate the operations in Tevinter.

The exact message I get is:

DirectXFunction "GetDeviceRemovedReason" Failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

"The Application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed"

GTX770 - GPU Driver: 347.52

Can you PLEASE give us an update on this issue??????

- Try re-installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64

- Try re-installing Directx 9.0c

- under Documnents -> Bioware .> Dragon Age Inquisition -> Save -> delete "ProfileOptions_Profile" and then set your video values again when you start up DAI.

I read doing these will help eliminate the CTD's and freezes during cut scenes......so I tried these and I only had one CTD in about 10 hours of gamplay. Not bad. So that one CTD in two days of gaming.

Beyond that, Bioware needs to seriously start cranking out patches to fix issues and stabilize their game because after many months of this, its getting really old and making them look quite bad.....

When that started happening to me, I did a clean reinstall of my video card drivers.  There is a program called Guru3D that is recommended by both AMD and Nvidia that will make that process painless.  I'd try that first.  :)

Thanks will give it a go. The main concern for me is that I wasn't having these problems for my first 3 play throughs.

It's most likely a problem from your part tbh. I've had no difficulty running the game without a single crash (over 50h of game time). Using an AMD Radeon R9 270.
