I understand that many players despise the Chevaliers' actions. Yet for all of the terrible things that the group do (rape, random murder, etc), I can't help but find them extremely fascinating. I really hope that the next game or DLC expands more one them ( perhaps Chevaliers as a special class or perhaps a companion is a current or former member?) Does anyone else agree, or am in the minority here? What are your feelings toward the Chevaliers and do think they can be redeemed in any way? Or why do you think differently?

I really want to be a Chevalier after reading "The Masked Empire." Gaspard is such a inspiration to the reason why I want to have this as a playable class. Live by the code, die by the code. That would be such a neat thing to role play, also.

There was few of us out there but I'm sure that most are just fans of Michel from The Masked Empire. I love there code of honor (even if they don't always live by it) and the versatility of their training. I felt that Michel could handle himself in any situation thanks to that training.
Edit: I almost forgot about Gaspard, how foolish of me lol

If we're leaving the South after DA:I, I think that just about precludes any chance of a PC being or becoming a Chevalier :>

Unless they have a Chevalier party member. I don't know if only Orlesians are eligible to become Chevaliers, but it's not like you legally got trained in the Templar spec in DA:O either. There's room for a Chevalier specialization. It'd be more fun than the very generic "champion," that's for sure.

I would very much wish to explore more the Code and what it means to be a Chevalier. It could lend itself to a very interesting story focused on what it mean to be honourable. Unfortunately, there's probably no market for it
"So many vows...they make you swear and swear. Defend the king. Obey the king. Keep his secrets. Do his bidding. Your life for his. But obey your father. Love your sister. Protect the innocent. Defend the weak. Respect the gods. Obey the laws. It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or the other.”

You need to be an Orlesian noble, or forge some Orlesian noble heritage, and attend the Academie in Val Royeaux.

Pretty tricky then. Still, they could still have a Chevalier party member who says "I can train you how to fight like us, but you know you're not legit right?"

Bioware would come up with an excuse if they were to explain how & why a Chevalier is up north. Most likely exile if anything but I'm with you I don't we will ever see one as a companion. Maybe as a DLC class for multiplayer if we're lucky.

Would be interesting if they had a chevalier for a next companion and as per dragon age tradition maybe make a female sword/board warrior

Haven't seen anything that suggests they're not filth, so no, I want nothing to do with them -- especially if butchering their way through the nearest Alienage is indeed part of their graduation "fun". I don't even want to suffer the presence of any Orlesian soldiers in Skyhold, because given everything we heard about the chevaliers and given all the atrocities of the civil war (hello Exalted Plains), I don't trust them around civilians as far as I could throw them. And I'd throw them right down the gullet of Corypheus' pet dragon.

I never liked Chevaliers, right from the Origins, I considered them quite corrupted, perhaps with a nice code of honor, but one applied in reality only to each other and a bunch of other nobles. Which would be pretty realistic, btw. So I had little love for them, but I must say they got vilified to ridiculousness with that "oh, yeah, final exams, better kill some elves". Saying that most of them are corrupted and believe only in appearances and not in actual honor (much less honor applied to dealing with those standing below them) is one thing, giving them that kind of "graduation fun", however...

I'm rather fond of them myself. Their flaws make them interesting - and the people who dislike them mysteriously seem to look the other way despite the other 'honourable' organisations - such as the Grey Wardens - being just as dark as the Chevaliers are capable of being. It's not like every Chevalier is a bad apple either.
