At least this thread says the Witcher 3 won't be full of them. That's all I care about.

Yes, and both of them were almost done when EA took over. They didn't influence the development for those games.

EA took over in November of 2007 Origins did not come out until November 2009. EA had plenty of time to affect Origins.

And given that Power is so Goddam easy to get (Requisitions, Rifts, quick side quests AND main quests) you can actually ignore the majority of them. I've done it & beaten the game. And on the PC, even easier: Use CheatEngine, get lotsa goldarrow-10x10.png & buy Influence/Power at Skyhold. Boom, done.

I actually like spending time with side quests in DAI, it's relaxing. Plus ALL THE BANTER I get to hear now? Totes worth it.

What sidequests?

I am asking a serious question. I am not trying to be facetious, which sidequests are you referring to?

Is there a sidequest in this game that amounts to more than "find letter, go to place, discover another letter". Replace letter with "NPC with two lines of dialogue" when appropriate

The closest is Michel's quest.

The fact that we can avoid them is not justification because we'll be avoiding basically everything outside of Main and Companion quests.

Lmao I just walk away.

Although once Solas and Vivienne were having this REALLY interesting banter in The Hissing Wastes and I accidentally walked by a camp and the Requisition officer interrupted it completely when she said "INQUISITOR!".

I was seething for the next 5 minutes. I tried reloading but it didn't reappear til much later in the game. :P

I just click on NOT RIGHT NOW.   I do alot between level 1-10.  I noticed when you recruit the Blade of Hessarians...you get the loot from their kills so its easy to do quite a bit more of them on the storm coast. Also got alot of fade touched deepstalker hide that way. :D

Please accept my apologies then. :)    I get tired of the unplayable on PC whining where the fact remains people just don't like change and are too lazy to learn the controls.

I understand, I feel the same about people who call DA:I 'a grind'. These people have never played a real grind.

Like I saw my little brother do once: killing the same mob over and over and over again for a chance of a 0.001% drop of the item he needed.

Of which he needed 3... which he needed to make one part of a 3 part total. The other parts needed other drops with equally ridiculous drop rates.

That, is grinding, people. DA:I has nothing that comes even remotely close to what Asian MMOs make you do to get the best gear. And it's absolutely ridiculous that people call raising your power level a grind, as literally everything you do in this game gives you power. It's not like you need hours and hours of questing to unlock the next story segment.

You do the hours and hours of questing because you want to, not because you have to.

Immediately a window pops up saying "go get 10___ and 5___." So I don't know what game you're playing.

"Ignore it" is not a response. You're not deflecting any criticism with that kind of reply, you're just being dismissive of people saying they find it annoying.

The fact is that people are allowed to give realistic, deserved criticism of a game, even a good game- which is exactly what the Witcher dev said it was.

What?

The lass will say "Word for you" or a line like that & you have to tell her to continue to get a Requisition, I always pick the "Not now" option & she backs off.

You can totes ignore the Requisition Officers without getting their quests. That's a fact.

I had that **** happen too. Believe me, every. Single. Time. She says it now, I'm like "******, STFU no you don't." Literally every time, and I say it aloud.

It's almost as bad as that "Plough 'em all!" guy in the witcher, except that's only on one part of the game. This **** is everywhere. Same exact chick, same voice that sounds so serious like it's something really interesting and important. But it's not. Nope. Just collecting some twigs or some ****. To make some ******* soldiers a blow up doll for morale and inquisition power or something.

I think both sides that have been repeatedly slugging it out over whether DA:I is a good game are both partly right and partly wrong. The critics are often too hyperbolic and exaggerate the game's flaws. Beneath all that hyperbole however they have some valid criticism, which some of the game's defenders refuse to acknowledge.

DA:I is a very good game. It is a flawed one however, and one of it's weaknesses are the side quests. Mateusz Tomaszkiewic's comments about the fetch quests are on the money. They are dull and there are too many of them. If there is a lesson to be learned from DA:I, it's that large and beautiful open world maps are only worth as much as the interesting content you're able to fill them with. The content should determine the size of the game world, rather than the other way around. DA:I would have been better off it were smaller but with the saved time and resources spent instead on crafting interesting side content.

It's still ****** annoying seeing the highlight on the map, which doesn't go away until you indulge the ******. And it's a she, at least on my game. Super annoying.

Inquisitor! I have something for you.

No you don't, shut the **** up.

Just take the request and don't do it, the marker will disappear.

The RO are all silent in my game like they don't even exist.

It doesn't appear on your quest log though I assure you.

I don't mean offense by telling you to ignore it. I'm just highlighting that those quests are repeatable and therefore should be ignored unless you are actively attempting to complete them for a reason.

It's the only solution you're going to get, and you'll find that ignoring them may help improve your experience with the game. That's all.

I agree 100%.  :)  Its very relaxing. One day all I did was get the shards and do the Astrariums.    Also....I wonder how many people even realized Ritts was an agent. I didn't get her until my 2nd playthrough.

Its funny how people come to the boards and whine more whenever this game wins another award. (They won two more last night)

Its obvious many people were not here during DA2.

I feel the same way too, though I understand why a lot of people are bored/upset by those quests. I think they are justified to complain as much as they want.

I love walking around, enjoying the environment, and listening to the music and banters. I did get all the shards and astrariums. I find the astrariums to be very easy, but some shards are just a pain to get.

Yes, there are. All areas have large spanning quests, except Forbidden Oasis.

Honestly, how could you miss that?

I don't want the **** in my log. Either way, it's annoying. It's not detrimental to my gaming experience, so I don't need tips. I'm just saying it's friggin annoying one way or another.

I played both and they are fun but they are not the perfect flawless games they are made out to be.   I am looking forward to the moment when the Witcher Developers eventually ****** off and disappoint their fandom because it will happen eventually. And when the moment comes its going to be glorious.

No people like you still worship. Every Bioware game is worse and worse but people still praise and defend fetch quests and bad single player MMO.

I have never played the Witcher games before, I have heard about them but never had the chance to play them.

Does anyone who has played them know if the various fantasy creatures are actually characters in the setting instead of mindless monsters? Is Geralt able to talk to and reason with creatures like a Werewolf or Troll, etc. instead of just strait up killing them?

Because that was my biggest disappointment in DA:I, non of the creatures you encountered were intelligent beings with their own motivations and goals, just mindless monsters to kill. This was a letdown for me when compared to DA:O/DA:A wherein you could interact with Golems, Slyvans, Werewolves, Spirits/Demons, even Darkspawn if you wanted to, even going so far as to recruit some of those creatures as allies to your cause.

That is basically the world of Witcher which Sapkowski created. A lot of creatures like trolls and dragons are intelligent instead of being mindless animals who just want to kill everything they see. Geralt himself has made his own code/ rule that he would never kill dragons because he respects them so much. Hell he even talked with two of them.

Every time. Every time. I do ignore them, or I run around them so they're not tap tap tapping me on the shoulder, but it's still annoying.

You people who are trying to deny that this is a legitimate criticism of the game are fighting a losing battle. Nearly every review I read of DAI had this as a negative point. But bless your hearts, maybe you'll convince someone.

Apparently, so, tell me, which quests would these be?

Do you mean like in the Exalted Plains where you reach a military camp, have two dialogues, clear it, soldiers appear out of nowhere and tell you they lost contact with another further ahead and you do that four times in a row?

Or maybe the Dalish Camp composed of five or so elves?

Just the act of sitting around the fire and the storyteller being hostile and telling you a story mean to make you fell guilty if you play as human is superior to all of the Dalish content in the Exalted Plains.

Oh it will definitely have them. They just won't be filler (like 90% of DA:I is.) And are generally involving (cut scenes, somewhat plot relevant and always profession relevant) and you usually get something worthwhile out of it. Some useful information about a character you're looking for, or info on how to fight a certain beast.

If you take their quest they have nothing to offer you. They only say "Inquisitor" as you walk. That can be construed as a soldier saluting their leader at camp.

That's not legitimate criticism. It's one thing to complain about the actual side quests in the game world. It's another to criticize optional repeatable content.

Indeed it does unfortunately, if you speak to her. I hate how full the DA I log is, full of crap you'll end up ignoring because you know it's just some fetch quest.

I like the game, a lot, but this is a very genuine criticism. It was for Skyrim too. I ignored those as well, but at least those were small in number and only for the beginning of the game, or after the end of a guild storyline.

TBH, of all the legitimate criticism I have seen this game receive, this is the one that makes even me go "Doesn't the game have bigger problems than that?".

I don't want to convince you or anyone but this is just at the bottom of my list of concerns re: DAI. *Shrugs*
