W3 will go under extreme scrutiny by fans ..If W3 is full of DAI type fetch quests then i will be the first person to blast them for this on their twitter account and then on their official forums....

I don't have to play it to know that there will be a ton of "Hey, Witcher, could you go to the other end of the map and kill 10 werewolves that have been chomping my sheep?"

As for the Witcher 2, It had similar fetch quests. "Hey Witcher, go kill some Harpies and bring me backy 30 harpy feathers."

Did you see ending :D and if you not get it, this quests was parody off fetch quests.

Interesting... With his quote you guys should discuss about how the developers think of fetch quest and his opinion on example of how to deal with side quest.

Nope. It turn in to trash the witcher or hype it up.

Lol yeah I saw it. It was funny. It was still annoying to kill all those Harpies and then cycle through a day so they could respawn and I'd have to kill them again. Good scource of income though.

It was supposed to be annoying. As 9TailsFox said. It was a parody of the kinds of fetch quests we usually see in western fantasy RPGs and MMOs. They were poking fun at how those kinds of quests are just filler and give you no reason or motivation to complete them. Which is wby the guy had such a terrible reason for wantng the harpy feathers.

Yeh. You know Harpies population dropping, prices rising.

I'm not sure why exactly a Witcher dev saying this was so special it deserved its own thread. Everyone else and their mother thought/said the same exact thing.

It's a pattern. Some random fact, more or less related to DAI, is used to trash the game. I guess that is therapeutical to some people.

Exactly. ..Now can you tell what you get for collecting 30 Bottle of  Thedus or  Mosiac pieces ?

I don't mind collecting 100 shards quest...It's still annoying but i still don't mind coz reward for collecting 100 shards is quite good..You get lot of cool loot from Solsan Temple ...But you get nothing for collecting grey warden tags except approval from Blackwall...

If reward is good the i don't mind fetch quest....But if you will give few gold and xp for collecting 100 bottles then FU...

Personaly i did not like the Witcher2, hated the combat etc. As for fetch quests, welcome to CRPGs. Fourtenently you don't have to do anymore then you want to. I have no doubt W3 will have it's share of fetch side quests, that pppl will complain about as well, except W3 will probably add some gratouitis sex scene at the conlusion of some of them. 8P

How is it trashing the game. He's actually pretty complementary about Inquisition.

You also don't really get alot of money either even if you haggle him. You have to keep farming the harpies for like an hour to get a thousand coins worth of feathers, eyes, eggs ect. ect. That's annoying.

Also, the Loc Muinne glyphs are annoying aswell.

Nice to see compliments about the game as I think it deserves it. Hopefully the next one can be the BG2 to the BG1 of Inquisition.

Atleast you can use feathers for crafting but you can't do **** with those Thedus bottles.. lol.. That's why i said most of the side quests in DAI are pointless becoz you get nothing worthwhile for completing them....

Were the bottles even actually a quest, or just a collection like getting all the parts of "Hard in Hightown"?

Bottles are part of collection quests like Mosiac pieces

Blackwall Inner circle quest is a fetch quest - Collect Grey wardens tags is a pointless fetch quest...

Haha, I love Geralt's reaction to that entire Harpy quest. He almost immediately calls BS on it, wondering why on Earth anyone would want that many feathers.

As I've said elsewhere, I picked up W2 while waiting for Bioware to make the 360 version of DAI remotely playable. Thank you Microsoft and CDPR for that. I just can't find myself wanting to go back to DAI after it.

Not that DAI's bad, but when a game with a set character with set weapons somehow makes me feel like I have more leeway than DAI, there's a problem.

Not only that, but the "ping" system Bioware even aped for DAI, CDPR does that better. As someone who's vision isn't great, the containers in W2 aren't really hard to spot, but the giant honking glow makes it that much easier, and it lingers for quite a while. DAI just gives you a bit of a pale light (that gets lost in the lighting more often than not) and then poof.

I'll give DAI another chance provided Bioware can actually patch it enough, but until then I think I'll do a second run through W2. And while the 360 version doesn't look nearly as good as Witcher 2 on PC, it's still damned good. Meanwhile, DAI looks like a PS2 game half the time thanks to the godawful job Bioware did on the textures loading/not loading/general crappiness.

Watching that vid, I'll say it looks graphically good and the combat is probably great fun, but my impression is this is geared more toward teenage boys than the more broad appeal DAI has across age, gender, and social lines.  The lack of companions is glaring.  I'll likely give it a shot either way and hope I don't end up disappointed.

As far as fetch quests go, I'm certain it will have it's fair share of the pointlessly inane.  My approach to side quests has always been to engage them at moments of convenience within the context of more relevant quests and story-related material.  If I get them done, yah, if not, so be it.

DA games and Witcher series were supposed to be two VERY different beasts. I liked DAO way way better than The Witcher. Then BW seemed to lose its way and CD Projekt found its way. Now I must confess I expect TW3 to outshine DAI on all fronts apart from interesting companions.

In fact IMO the Witcher books are better than DAI books as long as you can get past the slightly middling translations and the fact that Andrzej Sapkaowski seems to be a bit of a jerk.

Edit:

One thing that I know TW3 is doing better than DAI is the Collector's Edition. I can almost see that statue on my above the screen.

The first Witcher is glorious (especially considering the whole development process) and a totally different flavor than DAO

I love both

The feeling I get is that CD Projekt respects their PC gamers followers way more than Bioware do now. They still haven't forgotten that the PC community support built their company, that The Witcher 1 was PC exclusive and the feedback was important to make their second installment

Well, I hope Wild hunt is everything that the internet says it will be. I'll admit they're off to good start so far. 54 dollars no tax on PSN. 16 free DLC just for buying the game. 16 hours to record Mo-cap sex scenes :D .  Now, all they need to do is move UP that damn release date for once; cuz I'm getting tired of waiting.

Teenage boys like Bioware games more than Witcher games.....My 52 year old Uncle is a hardcore game and enjoys Witcher games alot.. He is also a big Game of Thrones fan

I know lot of Adult gamers who love Witcher games and books...

About companions - Geralt is a Lonewolf....He is a badass who fight alone without any companions helping or reviving him in fight...

Have you played Dark Souls ? It's also a RPG where you fight alone..

Aww yiss, awkward CGI porn.

I just hope that combat will be better and that they fixed the fiddly ass inventory sliders of Witcher 2.
