From this discussion I take ppl have misinterpreted my original post. What I proposed where the classes that the inquisitor would perform better than companions, not the most OP class. Sure KE is powerfull, but a KE quizz is not any better than viv (assuming not qunari). Also under the assumption that you do not need to control tour main all the time.

This distinction doesn't make sense. Aside from the qunari vitaars, race-specific bonuses are virtually irrelevant so any class/spec combo will not be any better than whichever squadmate already has it, with the exception that the Inquisitor has the best Focus damage ability in the game. So unless your inquisitor is a qunari... to answer the question you pose above - All of them.

Dual dagger assassin as the AI has no business controlling one correctly.

I actually set up Viv as my "healer" with a lot of spirit tree for barrier and such and the passives. Turn off her KE sword and leave her with her healing focus ability which she will actually use affectively when she has it available.  She works extremely well that way uncontrolled.  But it's certainly not to full KE potential.

I don't really follow the argument that champion is better done by players than the AI however.  Both NPC tanks seem to use their specializations and tanking skills fairly well for the somewhat wonky AI issues overall.

if your going to argue purely pc control being superior it's going to be close range dps'ers... The Reaver, The Assassin, in most particular. But the third would be a tie between the other two rogue specializations as dual wield dagger types.

Best class lore wise in my opinion would be a Warrior. Leading the pack and all in battle. He's the leader! Plus when you get Mark of the Rift, it's supposed to be like an EPIC moment. It's epic when you get it as a warrior and that sets you apart from the regular soldiers...but not so much if you're a mage because you already have tons of flashy magic at your disposal.

I like playing all classes, but to me the Rogue inquisitor is the least fitting lore wise just due to the nature of the class. Rogue doesn't feel "super" to me. Rogue has hit and fade tactics etc...it does perform excellent as a class.

A warrior really fit the first game nicely. Second was a mage. Third, with all the intrigue and trickery, a rogue. Robin Hood if you will.

I still say KE mage. Not jsut because it's a KE and, that does need human control to be the powerhouse it can be but, Mage in general fits the story better.

I can't imagine a non mage (unless they had an apostate relative living with them most of their life) not freaking out over getting the anchor, or have any inkling how to use it and, the prolog simply does not show any of that happening, there is no reference to a non mage inquisitor either having a mage in the family or being completely confused as to how to wield the magic that is the anchor yet the game clearly establishes that the anchor is magic.

Not only is rogue stronger than KE in the right hands (and much less boring, in fact - I think DW rogue is the most intense and fun class), but rogues can disrupts rifts with impunity.

So my vote goes for DW rogue. Extremely powerful in the hands of the player, unmatched at disrupting rifts, extremely fun.

What makes Qunari Inquistors better then the others the 10% melee defense?

It's commonly held that the extra damage they get from their vitaars synergize well with damage-dealing classes.

Oh vitaars get better damage stats then normal helmets? Hmm I have yet to make a Qunari, I don't really want to look like a giant cow, lol.

Yeah, all vitaars come with a damage bonus rather than an armour rating. It's not without drawbacks as some of the helmets you can find are pretty good, but some vitaars are still the best in terms of damage. The overall difference is small though.

Story wise I feel like a Rift Mage specifically fits best... but for party combos I'd probably say Rogue. Why? Because if you care about opening locked doors as you go and not skipping them till you can come back with someone else, then a Rogue Inquisitor basically makes sure you can do that and still take whoever the heck you want with you. But that's just me. It would drive me nuts encountering locked doors without a rogue...

I agree it would undoubtedly dwarven warrior sns tank champion or templar, youre invincible either ways. Having a non crappy focus ability is nice too.

The drawback is tank classes may be less fun than daggers or mage play.

I've done a full playthrough as a Knight Enchanter, and one as an Archer assassin. I'm now on a 2h warrior (currently level 11). So far the KE has been the most fun and looks to have the right balance for a solo effort. While I thought the best team fit for a starting character would be  a 2h warrior with Cassandra, Solas and Varric I am getting concerned that that the warrior is going to simply be a retro hack and slash character. 2H appears to be more flexible (and vulnerable) in attack styles but without a ranged weapon switch ability during combat is simply a chaser of more mobile enemies like despair demons for example. However getting the right blend of individual skills in a team doesn't seem to be as vital as in previous DA games

Story wise I like being a human mage in DA:I.  You are very invested in all of the aspects of the story.  I do feel that multiple playthroughs are necessary to fully explore the story though.  Some of the discussions I ended up in while playing a qunari mage were very interesting.

As far picking a race/class for an enjoyable powerful playthrough I would say that depends.  I am naturally biased toward mages in all games. My first attempt was an elven mage but I couldn't continue as him as he looked too young and immature given my graphics level (sub-ultra on PC).  I switched to a male human mage with a beard. I have made an Archer and a Dagger Rogue as well and a few more Mages of various combinations.

I like Knight-Enchanter Mage and Dagger Rogue best for opening up in a fight.  I don't have to get too involved.  But my Rift Mage is amazing and great.  I find that building out the entire team and planning how the skills synergize really makes a difference.  Spend some time on your tank and design that build to help the team.  Look at combo's and how they play out  For my mages I now include Cole and Cassandra in teams since I can give Cole knockout bomb and Cassandra has Wrath of Heaven.  The sleep and stun synergize very well with Eldritch detonators.  Both result in bonus spirit damage with high damage modifiers

Stun + Eldritch Detonator = Rupture -> 1200% Spirit damage and Weakness

Sleep + Eldritch Detonator = Nightmare -> 800% Spirit Damage and Panic

Personally I am not a good warrior player in any game.  So I avoid them until I am nearly done with a game.  But I do like DA:I's warriors.  The specs are interesting.  I hate the idea that warriors are natural leaders and reject that as truth.  All of those concussions have cumulative effects right :-).  I do like the idea that my dwarf ex-carta rogue is the leader of the inquisition.   Hilarious anti-hero drama results.

All in all I don't think there is a best.  I believe the best is what appeals to the player behind the console/keyboard.  Enjoy yourself, everything is playable and works.
