Why can she wear human trained armor but not elf trained armor? Is this intentional or a bug?
Isn't Sera supposed to be an elf?

Its intentional, she was trained by humans so she can wear "human trained" armour. It was a little joke on behalf of the devs that unfortunately has led to a bit of confusion.

She's a human trapped inside an elf body.

A bit of both, me thinks.
But basically, even though she's supposed to be an elf... they made her body "human". You'll notice if you play as an elf, the vast difference in the shape, so she fits human-trained armours.

I'd just like to repeat my statement about elfs not wanting to be elfs is a sad thing :/ WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE A SELF HATER Sera!?
Her dialogue with me after the temple was saddening :/

I wouldn't say she hates herself... it's more about rejecting elven culture as something of the past, and from her standpoint get over it and she'll be whoever she wants to be... she doesn't want to be defined as an elf but as an individual.
You'll find that this is evident if you question her after she arrives in Haven, and you ask her something elf-related, where she proceeds to pull the p*ss out of Solas and says "Not as good as we were. Who's 'we'? I'm fine."

Sera's animations use the human female body model, meaning she can only wear armours that were designed to function with that model.
I suspect that they made that choice deliberately, because it was less resource-intensive than redesigning the human-only armours to function specifically for a single elf model in the game. And if they hadn't done something along those lines, Sera would have ended up restricted to non-racial armours, entirely.

She meets elf inquisitor with visible disgust commenting that she or he is an elf, and during banter with Iron Bull, when he asked her what she thought about some girl that catched his eye, she said she was "too elfy", which shows she actually is prejudiced against elves as a race, it's not merely about "elven culture".
But speaking of clothes, like it was mentioned above, her model is just human female model and that's probably the whole reason she can't use elven armors. Bioware noticed how ugly default elven models for both genders look like, so neither she nor Solas uses one (although Solas can wear elven armor, which makes his entire body suddenly shrink).

I like her rejection of the Elven culture, it adds complexity to her character. She has very valid reasons for hating all things Elfy when you ask her. The only thing I can't stand is how she acts like she is better than all elves though. I would have loved to see NPCs show her a bit of subtle racism like they do to your Dalish Inquisitor, just to bring her down a few notches. Sometimes she acts so human that it's almost like she believes she is human, so I'm was hoping someone would call her knife ears just to see the reaction.

I know but...
She tends to generalise as well. For instance, she hates mages and nobles but gets along well enough with Dorian.
She will hate a sub-culture or group of people but if she were to meet an individual from said group that she could actually gel with, she wouldn't dislike them... she judges the people she meets by individual actions, while simultaneously hating and having somewhat skewered views on "groups".
So yes, she is prejudiced against elves as a race but it is derived from its culture...

She's a racist so elf armor refuses to latch onto her.

What was that reason? She was orphaned as a kid, was living on streets stealing stuff, and then human noblewoman (who bought into nobility through hard work) adopted her. She lied to Sera that some cookie seller hates elves so she wouldn't know her adoptive mother was actually buying the cookies she gave her from that seller. Which made Sera hate that woman since she felt ashamed for being an elf, even though banter with Cole and other informations suggest she actually really cared about Sera, which makes her look really bad and shallow.
Also keep in mind this is how devs themselves described her in game files:
Sera is young, raw, frenetic. An activist passionate about causes, but also a selfish criminal. Robs from the rich, keeps it. She’s young and hasn’t thought her beliefs through yet. She is impulsive, and it?’s often not about what’s right, it’s about what’s right now. Has next to no self awareness.
BTW, that description makes me wonder why is she even lesbian romance option, since it really looks like she's just a teenager (another hint: she played just 10 years earlier with painted box) and the fact that Cole is mentally immature, apparently just like Sera, was the reason why Gaider was perplexed by the demands to make him romance option.

Ahh... what has sexual orientation got to do with her (alleged) age, though? ![]()
When you were a kid, did you not have little school crushes, etc?
I've liked girls from as far back as I can remember.

They could have described her as an ignorant, stubborn, self serving wanna be human who is really an elf but is too stupid and stubborn to look in a mirror. They'd have been right and, I'd have known not to recruit her form the get go. Once was one time too many for me.
I know some like her but, unless they change her and make her listing and, think rather than react based on her selfish wants, she won't be in my party.
As for her armor she is clearly an elf who hates being an elf so won't wear anything elf. She is a wanna be human.

Well... good for you that you don't even have to recruit her, if you don't want to?
Ahh jeez... it is far too late at night for me to be baited by this and react like an idiot so basically all I'm going to say, is this;
Like all characters, not everybody is going to like her or has to. She isn't perfect (well, she's perfect in a flawed way
) she's self-serving but at the end of the day you will find that 99% of people are self-serving even if they appear to be selfless, there is always a motivation that comes from thought processes/belief systems, that is somewhat selfish... so acting selfless can come from a selfish thing and I won't touch on that because I'd be opening up a can of worms that will def cause a war.
She may be ignorant and stubborn but again, most people are like this too. Being open-minded and "critical" on one subject doesn't necessarily mean you will act like that about everything... when people cling onto something they will develop a bias, which will result in being ignorant and stubborn.
I think a lot of it has to do with how blunt and open she is... she gets straight to the point. She doesn't dance around things, and will argue if you say something that she doesn't agree with...
Other people, however, will stay silent or agree for the sake of agreeing as to avoid confrontation, while in their heads they will disagree.
Her brutal honesty about certain things are refreshing.

Nothing, I was just wondering about strange double standards about it, as Cole wasn't made a romance option for this very reason, while Sera has been made one, even though she appears to be in similar situation.

"Here's what I learned in the alleys: "Aaaaaugh, Mages! Aaaaaugh, Templars! Aaaaaugh, Tevinters! Aaaaaugh, hungry!" When you're little, everything is "Aaaaaugh""
LOL. I love her description on pretty much everything...

Like all characters, not everybody is going to like her or has to.
The difference is that only when it comes to her Gaider straight up admitted on his tumblr blog they knew perfectly well how much hated she will be: "We were aware before the game went out that she’d be very divisive, but I’d suggest that’s the mark of a strong character and not a weak one".
This is really disappointing from my perspective as a lesbian player, since therefore they also admitted that satisfaction of lesbian players, neglected so many times before, and lesbian representation which frankly so far has been terrible in Bioware games (Branka the psycho lesbian trope, Samantha the fanservice for men who "accidentally" kept getting undressed and teasing male Shepards) was the last thing in their minds, while it was obviously a different story with Dorian.
And really there is nothing refreshing in being close minded bigot. Just look how she treats romanced Dalish character after Temple of Mythal, how she completely doesn't care about her feelings, disrespects her and expects from her to spit on her whole heritage or they're done. Do I also have to mention misgendering he-she comments?

Oh that reminds me, this discussion qualifies me to take a drink (Drinkquisition BSN drinking game) so....
*Drinks* Want one?
Well love, that is all very subjective because I have had no problems with any lesbian romance characters, have witnessed no such "neglect", thought Traynor's "misogyny-lesbian" scenes were hot (though I was kinda grossed out when she said "I like something solid in my hands, so I'll give you that)
Now with the tragic Dalish break up thing... when two people are incompatible with severe belief systems (religious and what not) it isn't such an unconceivable idea, to break up... it's pretty normal.
He-she comments... that's not even set in stone. My perception was she was just relaying info to you that she had overheard.. there isn't really any hard evidence that she was discriminating.
Btw, why did you romance her if you don't like her? ![]()
