MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

So, here it is, folks: The reason why we see increasingly dumbed down Dragon Age games (among others);

It is because the big chief at EA thinks games are STILL too hard to learn - apparently, he lacks the mental capacity to play intelligent games. But alas, we all have to suffer for it.

http://www.pcgamer.c...-hard-to-learn/

So from now on, whenever you see a game posing as as RPG, with the EA logo on it, it's really not and RPG. And that goes for DAI as well.

(At least now we know why DAI was so dumbed down).

Was reading this article earlier.

The best part is the comments... ;)

I'm not the brightest tool in the shed but even I don't take two hours to learn to play a game....

I know, right?

The human race is not getting dumber (except maybe for EA execs), we are getting SMARTER! This is a scientific fact. But neither does it take a genius to see this all around us.

Damn these big corporations!

They'd be easier to learn if they were properly documented.

I' m appalled but it does explain a lot about DAI. I hesitate to say my age as I am officially a pensioner - 61 years old - but have been playing games for many many years and PRG's are my favourite. They are NOT too hard - for God's sake. I suppose then we will never get more 'good' games from EA/Bioware like Baldur's Gate or Origins or Mass Effect 2. Thank god for the Witcher and Pillars of Eternity!

This is exactly what I am talking about since my first day here on this forum!

The world of VG production is run by complete jack-asses and we are the once who have to repair it by screaming so loud that the brains of these EA bastards turn on by accident! And the devs of this world are sliding on their knees before these half-wits and are bagging for money:

"Please oh you almighty Gods of eternal wisdom ... please give us life ... we are nothing without you ..."

And they dare to call this forum "negative" - "§$&$&/)§%&(§%&/)

And I am supposed to stay mentally sane despite all of this ...

Most of the time I ask myself if I have written my postings to harsh or too negative. Or if anybody will read my stuff when it is always about the same issues and topics? (Example: "F*ucks are ruining the VG industry!")

But now ... man ... my conscience has been freed of the weight I used to carry. I tell you!

This is the world we live in today ...

Here is the link to that graphic I posted. It is from gamasutra ...

RPGs should be hard to learn?

RPGs should be complex, just as the real world is complex.

People often iincorrecy equate complexity with difficulty.

I guess I have a tip for the EA guys of this world! Some food for thought that could easily get rid of all of their problems in one fell swoop!

"You have to remove the brains of consumers and instead put a button into their heads that can be triggered by PR!"

Then nobody will want to use their brains anymore and buy everything. Also the geniuses in publishing and PR can stop crying about the consumers being too hard to understand ...

... A day in the life of two publishers:

Ted: "Oh, these humans! What shall we do with them? They don't give us their money ... even though we made the games worse and worse ... and worse ... and worse ... and worse ... and worse ... and worse ...   !?" ... "And know there is this theory going around ... that consumers have brains ... and free will ... and have feelings and thoughts and so on! I cannot take this :crying:

I think ...I think we have to make a PR campaign that tells people don't have brains - that will solve the problem!"

Steven: "Oh gosh, Ted, I am so glad you are working in PR - you have the best ideas :wizard: I tell you what: That is exactly what we are gonna do! And while we are at it ... How about we make the games even worse?"

Ted: "Oh well, Steven, that is exactly what I was thinking. I have to say, that I immensely enjoy working with you ..."

Steven: "Well thanks Teddy - I love you too <3 "

They made the same desicion when they screwed up the Ultima series. More action, less options, jump puzzles. History is being repeated.

Told you it would happen again!

I do enjoy your rants.

I dunno what gets me more, to be honest...

The fact that on one hand, EA are pretty much insulting everybody's intelligence with their lack of faith in it...

Or on the other hand, they're that desperate for a money grab that they will make games for toddler aged brains....

You know which part I like best? Looky here:

EA's chief creative officer Richard Hilleman thinks the publisher's games might still be too hard for potential new players ...

All they do is based on their wishful thinking of taking over the whole market. Nothing they do or strife towards is based on reality or craftsmanship. When there is a problem they throw a bag of money at it. And if that does not solve the problem:

"Then there must be something clearly wrong with reality!"

Teddy and Steven would go:

"All this stuff has to stop right now! Consumers are not ment to have opinions and free will! They are supposed to buy our stuff! That's why they exist ..."

Yeah I know...its like 'Lets sacrifice our old base player for Potentiel no guarantee invisible will come around one day in the futur players

And add to that , the fact that it really scream 'we aren't making RPG but something watered down with RPG label just cose we can' ....and encourage Lazyness and what not .

Lame..

Yeah but...

This is how you make money. Hell, the writing on the wall doesn't even have to mean anything. As long as it's fancy, and you look the part, you will make $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. You'd be amazed at what a crystal ball and bad incense will help you achieve... the riches.

And when your customers eventually complain about giving them false hopes, you can just pull PR stunts and say, "I'm sorry. I was just trying to appeal to dumbed down masses."

To me Inquisitiuon is not a RPG! It is an Action-RPG ... that is more or less the same like ... a Shooter or a Jump'n'Run.

For me, when it comes to Inquisition ... it says "RPG" on the box - if the digital version had one - until the point they repair this game.

'Til then ... it is a Button-masher only ... Bioware should be ashamed for this!

Poor choice in direction, but when EA controls you I suppose this kind of thing will happen.. Hopes for a good game after DAI now are a growing rather bleak.
