Man, If I were some incredibly wealthy eccentric with extra time on my hands I'd just start my own game company and hand pick all the employees <3

Be even better if you could get some of EA's IP though.  They do have a great library of games....that they killed.   Of course they got them by buying the companies that made them great and running them into the ground but they still got them.

For Example:

Populous

Syndicate

Dungeon Keeeper

Ultima

Wing Commander

Sims

Sim City

Mass Effect

Dragon Age

Command And Conquer

If one were to somehow get their hands on that treasure trove think of the possiblities.  In the right hands of course, not EA's.

Well if you would make use of your imagination too - which you should in this case - you would come to the same conclusion we have:

If that EA guy and his brain dead buddies dumb down an entire game (which can be the only result) for newbies ...
... what do you think will be there at the next title launch for us to play around with?

Exactly! The same dumbed down BS that these guys will try to sell to some newbies who cannot comprehend what a VG even is ... :wizard:

Now you tell me why this shouldn't concern me!

I find reading more than what is presented at face value just makes me go crazy especially when it is something that I have little to no control over.  EA is just a company and the video games they publish are just video games.  I'll make up my own mind if I like the games (by looking at gameplay footage, meta critic reviews, other reviews, and friends who play) and if I don't like the game I don't buy it.  Simple as that, there are far more pressing things in life for me to concern over.

I cannot argue with that! Fair enough...

..and then realize that you can't keep paying all those developers selling games that only a dozen malcontents on the BSN want to buy.

Hey I'm an eccentric billionaire, you think my money is coming from that game company? They're making games that *I* want to play

Don't forget BioWare's Star Wars license.

While playing DAI I've come to the premise that the game feels very shallow in one of the early beta videos we saw a decision where we either saved a village or helped the soldiers and refugees these choices are not in the game and when I saw the video it got my heart and mind pumped we were going to have moral choices. We don't have these really kinda feels like ME3 where the Paragon & Renegade choices were removed that would flash on the screen like in ME2 it feels empty and simple, the whole game feels simple and removes a lot of the RPG elements.

Controls are wonky for PC, the game feels like it was dumbed down for 3 year olds and the mentality of reading that article tells me that EA doesn't think to highly of the customer base and thinks were all 3 year olds needing to have our hands held.

In past games I have all my game manuals and my favorites have to be the Fallout Manuals love to break them out and read them for old times sake and wonder why games ditched this form of communication to teach players about their game's.

DAI overall while it's very pretty lacks real depth, can get boring, no real consequence's in choices and a tad to simple.

Though I took a short break from DAI I've been enjoying Divinity Original Sin now this game feels like old school RPG's.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that scene :D Now that I think of it, the whole thing was not in the game (I remember something about boats). I wonder if it was then cut for budget / time reasons or if this thing was built just for the presentation.

Well, I'd say EA doesn't think that the gamers who play their games are 3 year olds, more like that the game could attract all those 3 year olds that are not playing their games but should play them :D

I've noticed this dumbing down trend happening to big companies that started out with some of the most quality, innovative game releases out there. Both Bioware and Blizzard are excellent examples with games like Diablo 2, early WoW, DA: O, Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate, and so on.

For whatever reasons the corporate people think that by dumbing games down, they will sell more of them and make more profit. But  that's not how it works (Diablo 3 is a great example).
