In my opinion todays games are suffering what i call "call of duty syndrom" its more focus on the estethic part of games: the action, enviroment, special effects and so on, but the underline story are so thin and/or on verge to cliche and predictable.

But in EAs case why their games has done poorly is that they still havnt learn that in order to create a good game it needs long development time. Ea wants to make a profit quickley which is one of the main reason that their games the last 4 years has been dismal.

I lack the ambition, I'm afraid. I am completely happy if I have a roof over my head and food on the table.

You and I both.

Hey looky here! A baby that has lost it's Lollipop ... wandering off ... into the deep, dark woods of discussing topics with grown-ups!

How cute

Funny how you attack him while completely misunderstanding his post. He was pretty much pointing out that stupid people are pretty much ruining everything, because corporations are dumbing everything down to get more stupid people to pay for their product. While everyone with a shred of intelligence is being left in the cold.

And funnily enough... COD is one of the most popular games.

I get called a weirdo for liking DA by COD supremacists.

Take a drink. Play the BSN drinking game... you'll feel better. (It's more fun than DA:I)

All one has to do is point out DA:I Game of the Year and that makes everything about the direction EA and BIoWare is going okay.

All this reminds me of the South Park episode staring Honey Boo Boo.  If the gaming industry bar gets lowered any further, it'll be sticking out exposed on the other end of China.

I am absolutely gobsmacked.

I generally don't like the 'omg it's all dumbed down' train of thought because I find it too unspecific to make much sense, but now I have to ask: What does Mr. Creative Director want us to play in the future? Dragon Age: Candycrush Invasion? And is the concept of getting three or more identical symbols in a row easy enough, or does that also require simplifying to appeal to more 'potential customers'?

Seriously. A triple-facepalm wouldn't be enough.

I'm putting my bets on a dating sim.

Featuring: no nudity or sex scenes and the option of picking between 42 potential love interests.

And a two hour tutorial explaining, "use mouse or hit x button to move here".

Yeah, you are defenitely right there

Sometimes I am so pissed about this whole stuff we have to go through with this corporate execs ... Man, that is frustrating enough on it's own.

And I do NOT enjoy ranting on the BSN in the least. I ment to tell you this as a response to your posting ... but then, push came to shove ... Whatever !?!

As I was saying: I do not enjoy ranting here on the BSN. But the longer I am reading and writing in here the more I get emotionally negative about this whole thing. Because I get more aware of how long I am waiting for this game to get fixed or Bioware and EA to see reason. And most of all I meet people on the BSN who are just like me and go through the same s*hit like me. Only they are doing this for years!

And nothing changes, Honourable Bigot ... nothing changes ...

And sometimes that winds me up and makes me really frustrated ... And then I forget the fact that I am new to "posting in forums" and that this written communication in messengers can be "tricky" and that "I could have misunderstood someone" :D ... AND THEN: BOOM! I knock their teeth in ...

Completing Candy Crush actually requires skill and some thought into planning ahead...compared to hitting a button or two while waiting for a health bar to drain, that is quite advanced...

RPGs should be complex, just as the real world is complex.

People often iincorrecy equate complexity with difficulty.

I agree with this part. But I don't see how that necessarily means having to take two hours to learn how to play the game, which is what the EA guy said was a problem

Rpgs should be easy to get into, but harder to master. Not get into with no effort at all, and impossible to fail at.

This is where people confuse depth with complexity. People want games with depth but just making it hard to understand and use isn't deep it is just hard to use. Chess isn't a complex game (they can teach pigeons to play) it is very deep game though.

Well the EA guy "thinks" he knows what he is talking about.

But he doesn't know jack-s*hit about jack-s*hit!

That much should be clear for anybody to see. And I think it is all we really need to understand about these people!

Failure is never really been a part of any game I can recall unless failure = death. It is rare to recall, I think FO had a handful, of quests you could finish but fail as opposed to BG or DAO where there was no way to fail.

I actually do want complexity.

But that doesn't mean that the game can't be easy to learn, or perhaps easy to play without having to learn it first.

Experiencing the complexity doesn't have to be mandatory, but it should be possible.

LOL.

Yeah, I get you completely.

This is why I've stopped playing... (not so much because I had major technical issues, but rather cause I'm just over it). Indeed, nothing changes.

If anything, it is worse... so many people complaining of patches screwing the game up even more, what's that?

The whole situation with EA... corporation... money, is just ridiculous and I don't see it improving or changing or any of us who express these opinions seeing a return of what was before.

So... I just come on here for kicks instead. ;)

I worded my post poorly. What I mean is that its not a good thing when an rpg requires no tactical thought at all. And that any spell or weapon, for example, works against any enemy. Stuff like that. In DA:I it is almost impossible not to win every fight by just casting barrier and then button mashing through it.

Man ...

These EA guys do whether understand complex games nor deep gameplay! How about that as a food for thought, Sidney?
