I was wondering if anyone has run into this problem. I bought a new PS3, synced to have all achievements recognized, yet when i started a new game it does not recognize any of them-at least the unlockable items. Is it simply I have to have one playthrough before they show up, or am i going to have to purchase all the DLC again. The weird thing is it's showing Purchased on the main screen, but it's also giving me the option to purchase the DLC again when I go into Download. Any help would be appreciated to fix this problem.

your talking about a new game your locked into with an account that shows you got the achievements already?
I may be wrong in this but things that show up when you have played the game through once only do so if you have save game files. otherwise with just an achievement how does your game know to load those items? Its like switching accounts.

Not so much a new game, just a new PS3.
That's probably the issue though, not having any saved games to go off of. Going to be a pain to have to have at least one more playthrough to get all that.
Just as long as I don't have to purchase any more DLC for a second time.

I figured part of it out last night. All the DLC(except the free DLC items) was Purchased but had yet to be downloaded or installed on the new PS3. I had to download the Playstation Store, then download all the previous DLC I had purchased, and then the relevant free DLC items and DLC showed up in the game.
I've still got to get access to the DLC related items, but I think that's like already mentioned and I'll need a saved game to access those. That or play through the DLC one more time to unlock it.
