... SO OT but GG, I thought it was about corrupt journalism

It should have been and I'd like to believe it was the original intent. But it got way out of hand.

I agree he covered it pretty well for the most part, he painted them both as being in the wrong, though not without merit (though let's be honest, he was definitely more critical of one side.) He absolutely did lie however. He implied he had read the articles, which means he either willingly misinformed his viewers, or he hadn't read them despite making it clear that he had.

Or he didn't read them all thoroughly or he misinterpreted them. But I would not accuse him of lying.

I wouldn't trust Mark Darrah

he also said that DA is comparable to Game of thrones (lol)

especially with DA:I its a step back

and more like a generic high fantasy setting

Quite sad when I can affirm that DA:I is like a Disney'd version of Game of Thrones. Compared to GoT which is more brutal and which has way more gorey elements, playing DA:I feels like watching a softer version of Lord of the Rings.

The game is not good for me.

But worse than that I find some basic QA/QC issues that are only now getting addressed by recent patches and more to come, not acceptable.

While I do trust MD, this may be on to something. I have thousands of hours invested in the DA series over these yrs; have chosen to skip GoT completely due to objections with their materials.

Agreed; have little in common.

First I was worried that he said that specifically about DAI. Then I found out it was in an interview about DAO. He said there are certain influences from GoT and LotR, which is true, you can see that BW were heavily influenced by those things when creating the world of DA (how well did it go is for some other discussion). And then I found out he said, that while ME is a space opera that could be on TV in the afternoon, DA at the same time is something that would be broadcasted on HBO. So, yeah, there is that... :D

If DAI is like GoT..

Then the Hunger Games is like Battle Royale ( in terms of brutality )

More like Percy Jackson now. When it comes to the target audience, anyway.

Well you can, there's a mastercraft component (fade-touched something) that you can put into daggers, for example, that generates guard with every hit. If you want to put it into both, be sure to select different qualities of the enchant, they only stack if they have different values (/golfclap).

Doesn't change the basic argument though, which I agree with. Not sure if it should be guard for rogues too, but I'd like for them to have a similar mechanic. Somebody on this board suggested something like evasion, building up charges that represent the chance to dodge the next attack, or something. As it is, rogues have no real defensive utility except twitch-based dodging, which doesn't really lend itself so well to a party-based RPG (as opposed to a protagonist-only twitch game).

The material your thinking of is Fade Touched Obsidian it generates 3 guard per hit the dock area where the Fereldan Frostback Dragon is in the Hinterlands is the most certain place to find some, have a mage raise the broken bridge at the dock you'll find a boat with some lootable crates it usually contains between 3-20 fade touched obsidian along with other materials.Of course that means you have to engage the dragon to get near it  :D

Yeah I agree

In my opinion Origins was a lot more darker than DA:I not sure why they turned it into a more "children-friendly" setting

So you didnt watch Game of Thrones, but you agree they have little in common?    Hmmm.....

@DistrurbedbedJiim:  Each Fade Touched material has several different properties.. For example, i have 2 or 3 of each named material, but theyre taking up 3 list spots, as they have different effects.. I have 2-3 Kinds of FT Iron, Leathers, Cloths, etc..They all have more than 1 effect.

1x Fade Touched Iron- Heals 15% dmg taken over 10 seconds

2x Fade Touched Iron- Generates 3 Guard on Hit

1x Fade Touched Iron- 5% Increasded Dmg for each enemy within 8yrds.

Thins like this..

Keep in mind reviewers don't actually play the whole game. They play like the intro and maybe a little into the beginning. It's an industry standard. Many developers know this and even Creative Assembly publicly flaunted that they designed the game to be good at the beginning with that in mind.

So I'm sure if they had to endure hours of fetch quests, reviewers might see it differently.

I can think of several reviewers who do finish.

Nope; skipped the series, too. The author seemed to have a case of never-ending story telling, and I chose to pass on them all.

I can only appreciate one thing about GoT, it's a war of the roses inspired story.

Other than that, I don't plan to watch a single episode.

You never read the books but have an opinion about them? Interesting.

I never watched the show but the novels are great. I just wish George RR Martin would release them more often. I waited ~6 years for the last one...

This is why I stopped after Book 4, which was weak, and just read a synopsis for Book 5. I don't see this series having a satisfying ending, if it actually manages to end at all.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure about the books' ending. GRRM is not exactly in a perfectly healthy shape :D But at least the producers of the HBO show know the ending in the case he couldn't finish the books or they would get to the last season before the last books comes out (which will most likely happen).

I know. I'd rather read the ending than watch the show, though. They have moved too far away from the books already. It is starting to look like fan-fiction now.

Nah, appreciate it, but I do want to keep the show a surprise and/or I might return to later books, depending on Winds of Winter's reception.

I want him to make it, I really do. But his rate of writing just isn't going to hold at this point for him to beat the show to the end. But as Neil Gaiman pointed out, "George R.R. Martin is not my ******".  :P
