You broke my left stick button!

Between us, my SO and I have played nearly 600 hours of DA:I, so it's fair to say that we're fans of the game. Unfortunately, it also means that the left stick button on our game controller -- used for searching -- is completely worn out. Kaputt. Works at most maybe one time out of 10. It was always an awkward control to assign to such a constantly used feature, and in the end, the controller just couldn't handle the demand. That controller is going to cost us $50 to replace -- no small expense.

Do you think maybe you could release a patch allowing us to swap the functions of the left button (potions, etc.) and the left stick button?

No wonder DA:I got GOTY... it's a conspiracy to make you go out and buy controllers = extra dough for Sony/Microsoft

Haven't had that issue yet.  Granted, I just got a new controller recently (unrelated to DA:I), but still.

I think the search mechanic gets old really fast. I'd prefer the following instead:

  1. A toggle to always highlight loot / interactacbles (as in DA2)
  2. Make loot / interactables shimmer as long as I hold down the search button (as DA: Origins)

Might be. I've sent in a claim.

Of course, Logitech could always come back with, "This is a limited hardware warranty. It doesn't cover wear and tear incurred by using the left stick button 400 times as often as it was designed for."

I think this speaks to poor controller design more than anything. But sticks, based on the way they are designed, aren't as rugged as most other components in a controller. If someone can come up with a better way to make controller sticks, it would be a multi-million dollar win.

For the record, it took a long time, but Logitech did replace the controller.

That, while long, is what makes a good company. By the time your new controller came in Bioware should have fixed the mechanic that broke our controllers in the first place.
I wonder if I sent a claim in to EA/BW that their mechanic broke my controller if they would honor that and reimburse me

In time they will exclude warranty if used for Bioware games.
