There isn't one already? Well time to fix this and make support thread about our favorite companion...The Mabari Warhound in hope that BW adds our most favorite smelly companion back who has been faithful trough DA franchise 

 

• So what are mabaris?

​-Mabaris are huge dogs size of one dwarf in DA series with a mix of wolf blood in them.

• How intelligent are they and how does one get mabari?

-Mabaris are not chosen they are ones who chose their masters.That special bonding is called imprinting and it means that mabari has chose you.They are highly intelligent creatures capable of fully understanding humans.Their intelligence and strength is what earned them high respect from Fereldans who often use mabaris in wars.

• Does anyone else besides Fereldans use mabaris?

​-Mabaris are considered most successful Fereldan's breed but they are used also by various other sort of people for different purpose,some as just pets while others use them for more aggressive purpose,though "Ash Warriors" also use mabari as their "second sword" but their mabaris are different from usual mabari war hound.

• What is so special about "Ash Warriors"? And how are theirs mabaris different? 

​-Ash warriors are elite and renowned unite of Fereldan fighters who use  their mabari in battle.Theirs skills are considered to descend from dwarven beserkers, Ash Warriors also don't take pay for the causes they deem just and are highly respected among Fereldan's common folks. However reason why their mabari warhounds are different from usual is because they make their own mabari to drink the darkspawn blood and if mabari survives the taint he has passed the test.They also paint their mabaris with 'Kaddis' so their mabari knows foe from enemy.

• So what is so special about mabari?​

-Pretty much everything! There are countless legends telling storiest about mabaris as Heros and all races have deep respect for mabari.Plus he is only companion that will love you and never disapprove of you no matter what bastard you are and:

...he is also so adorable

I wonder if the Warden's mabari is even alive anymore. I'd like to think he's to the west with her, but large dogs don't last long. 

 

Though, Loghain told a story of his mabari that lasted ten years, so who knows.

Aside from his badassery, I wouldn't be surprise since our mabari are also very smart. He can trick the guards into fighting each other over a girl on a quest to rescue the Warden.

We have been fighting mabari since DAO. I thought the salt on the wound were those huge mabari statues...
The animal police was killed by bears.

I agree, I really miss having a mabari and I really dislike having to kill them in both DA2 and DAI plus their cries as they get injured and die really freak my dogs out, i have to turn the sound off if my dogs are in the room, the puppy gets really frightened by the sounds.

I miss having a mabari, I liked having him as a party companion. I wish they would quit re-designing them, they just look like Pit Bulls now. I wish mounts didn't disappear in combat, like in Skyrim how they would fight stuff with you lol A Battle Nug who doesn't battle?

I liked my mabari in Origins -- in fact, I played a human warrior partly because I wanted to have that dog right from the beginning. He was kind of a letdown, though. They'd have to flesh out a proper companion-mabari a lot more, especially as far as the feeling of the special bond his owner is supposed to have with him goes.

Yes I thought that might have been what it was.

 

I agree it would be great if they had left the mabari the way they were instead of redesigning them. Would also be good if the mounts would join in with battles.

My Mabari was amazing. I was a tad disappointed that we weren't going to have one. At least one to roam around the keep as a pet. :/

They should have just gone with it. Solas is already fairly suspicious- having a dog constantly harass him would have been pretty funny. Particularly if you ever confronted him about it.

Solas: Well I've...always favored...cats... 

Inquisitor: Checks out! Carry on.

They do not look like American Pit Bull Terriers. Or even like the monstrosities called American Bullies that people seem to think are Pit Bulls. APBT are medium sized at best, lean and wiry muscled. If anything, Mabari most closely resemble molosser types like Cane Corsos, Presa Canarios, or even Dogo Argentinos, though Dogos are white. They look nothing like APBT other than that they have short fur  and cropped ears.

Dooog! Here's another one who misses a dog in the party *sniff*. But as much as I loved the dog in DAO, it took away a whole companion slot and didn't have any party banter. An option to summon the dog - similar to the mount - would have been great, though.

 

Edited to clarify:

With "no party banter" I mean that the dog couldn't talk. He interacted with your other companions in his own way, I know, and that was good but there was no dialog.

OMG...i forgot about it -.- , i guess it's because then at least you had a mabari companion, so that's why I noticed it more now.

There was a mod that gave Dog his own party slot so you had 3 party members and dog. I loved it. I wouldn't have minded the summon in 2 if it had been persistent. Having to summon him after entering every location was so irritating.

Well, to be honest, I'll take a mabari over companions like viviene and sera any day. But that is all a matter of opinion

If they bring the dog back in future, i hope its handled like DA2, rather then wasting a companion spot like DA:O did since the marbari became useless to use pretty quickly

I agree DAI needs more mabari for the pc, as for age of mabari we really don't know since their species is a magical creation originally so they mightn't be tied to the life of regular dogs, and hero doggy from DAO did survive the blight so who knows what that means. 

 

Though at very least warden could have taken one of hero mabari's puppies with him even if hero mabari died of old age.
