I went through the first part of Inquisition a long time ago, then stopped my game when my Hawke turned out to be a generic character rather than the one I'd built and played through for so many hours.  I went back, restarted DA2, and played my character all the way to the end.  Now, trying to import my new information to DA Keep, I find that it simply won't upload him.

Am I the only one this has happened to?  If not, how to I fix the problem?

O_o You probably should have asked about the Hawke thing before you replayed through DA2. I can't provide too much assistance regarding uploading your Hawke as that process has so many variables that it is tricky to debug. I think I can at least point you in the right direction for your end goal though. The important thing to remember is that DAI does not import Hawke's appearance or choices you make with your Hawke. You have to rebuild the choices you made in the Keep and you have to customize your Hawke's appearance in DAI shortly before he shows up.

Now based on your post, it sounds to me like you were not given the option to customize Hawke in game, which means that your Keep world state was not uploaded to DAI as you are given the option in save which imports a world state from the Keep. Therefore I recommend looking at the guide for importing your world state to DAI.

That's the weird thing;  I did construct my world the way I was supposed to; but my mage character didn't upload with my other.  I have 1 mage and 1 warrior, but my mage isn't showing up when I do the import.  I don't know why;  I thought there was a bug in the original mage character, so I deleted him and started a new one, played all the way through the game (including inverting who were my rivals and who were my friendships along the way, for added options why world building).  But I still can't get DAK to recognize the character.

You didn't need to replay DA2. If you can see your custom Hawke in the Keep, then he or she is already there (you can check under Heroes, in the left sidebar). The Keep doesn't record quest information, only the image, name, gender, and class of your custom Hawke.

A few questions, and I know some might seem obvious:

When you talk to Varric in Skyhold, there should be an option that asks if you want to customize Hawke or use the default model. Did you get that option in game? And if you did select "customize Hawke", did you click "select" or "customize"? Lady Insanity has a short (1.5 minute) video on this subject.

In the right sidebar of the Keep, there's a section titled World State. In that section, for the world state that you are using, does it say that your world state has been successfully imported? You'll know because you'll see an icon in the shape of a desktop monitor with DAI displayed on the screen and a big green checkmark on top of the monitor.

Now, if you're problem is that your custom Hawke isn't importing into the Keep, that's a separate matter entirely. I've got a few questions about that, too.

When you're in DA2 make sure that under options -> account you at least have "upload character profile" selected and that you're logged in when you're playing DA2. Otherwise, your Hawke definitely will not upload.

Your issue is not unique and there have been problems with syncing custom Hawkes and Wardens to the Keep. You may find this tutorial useful in making sure your Hawke is recognized by the Keep.

Thanks for helping, and sorry I've been so slow to respond.  Been trying everything you put up here, as well as some other options I've found online.  None have worked, unfortunately.

>I did get the option to customize my Hawke.

>World state was successfully imported.

>Upload was not enabled, but have enabled it now.  Unfortunately, DAK hasn't recognized the character yet (I did fire up the game via Origin, enable this, save, exit, then open up the game and save a second time.)

>Syncing tutorial hasn't helped yet :(

Again, thanks for the help, and sorry for the slow reply,

Syncing heroes is a bit hit and miss I'm afraid.

Yeah... DAK seems like a good idea in theory, but I wish they'd put it through beta before making DAI depend on it.  Plus, a lot of little details and decisions from the first two games a left out.  I remember being impressed by the werewolf encounter in DA2.  Just a minor little event, but it called back of lot of what happened in DAO.  I understand the logic behind the Keep, since it simplifies a lot of things for the developers, but still...
