Same race could show small differences but different races big differences. I don't think BW would really go into small differences between dalish clans or qunari mercenary groups. Also having LI only for one race would feel really limiting to players, at least it feels that for me with Solas. So I'd prefer race-gates not existing, it's hard to make them justifications in story as well.

Small differences? I prefer to call  it tasty nuances, treasures and wonders! I don't know about other races but elvhes are lore wise covered' only an union between elvhes result in elvhen offspring. I prefer gates, rich ornamented gates with at least two pairs of guards. It does not sit well with me when different races start to mingle together (except for my Hawke and his Merrill, he got what he wanted so it is ok. protagonist and all that stuff).

Oh, Lord Surinen is back and it's all about (fantasy) racism, blood purity and elven supremacy again. ... yay.

Still, I don't see reason to race-gate romances if it's not purely time and animation issues.

I see your point from a gamer's perspective. But as far as keeping consistent with the world we're playing in, it's eminently logical that those race gates are up. It's not as though Thedasians are particularly enlightened. It's cultures who keep slaves, cultures that justify lobotomization (tranquility), totalitarian governments that literally brainwash their own people, religious fanatics who are dogmatic slaves to their church, elven isolationist clans...

You throw a bunch of random individuals from these cultures into an inquisition and it follows that you're going to get people who just won't dabble romantically outside of their own race.

Not to burst anyones bubbles, but i don't think there will be any new romances added in dlc. There will probably be extension on the existing romances like in other Bioware games.

I think it's more of cultural than racial differences in that case. Cause if every race can be raised in Andrastian culture and all Qunaris aren't grey giants. It'd feel weird if Qun-Qunari would want to romance only Tal-Vashoth qunari and not other party members when Qunari society has lot of qunaris from different races.

I would prefer story focused DLC that includes flirting options in conversations with the unromancable characters. Some of my favorite exchanges have been my female Inquisitor flirting with Cassandra, Viv, and Dorian, even though I knew it wouldn't "go anywhere."

Did you actually play the game? There aren't 8 options at all.

If you are heterosexual, even fewer.

I don't obess over romance like the people here So it isn't a factor for me.

I would like an option to continue the romance with your LI. It's bad enough that after the ending the dialogue options revert to pre-romance condition  :crying:

If we get romances they should be well written and complete. Not this half romance for DLC bit where the only time you see it or it's acknowledged is the course of the DLC.

Do it right or go home.

Finally something that I was looking for! Why cant we have an Harem and be regarded as a duch or not by doing so! It's the medieval era! in those times rulers had wifes, concubines and secret wives! I would love to see if I can ruled them all or be killed cause I betrayed them or not!!
(just kidding but at least i would like to be in 2 relationships at same time)

The writers have discussed polygamy before, at GaymerX last year.  They tried it and they ran into some problems when they were writing it.  Please don't mistake me, as the writers certainly don't have of morale issues with the lifestyle or anything like that.   :)

See, the writers have what's called a word budget.  Due to voice acting, animation and all of that costing so much time and money, the writers only get a certain amount of dialogue they can put into the game.  When they tried to write a polygamous relationship, apparently it blew that word budget to hell and back.  Sadly, sources aren't infinite (even for a big publisher like EA,) so I don't think we'll ever see that in a BioWare game.

The way dragon age inquisition ends, it feel like the only natural thing to do with the DLC, is to have new story taking place AFTER the ending (epilogue). Let's say times as moved on and some characters are gone or ''change''. Vivienne had time to mourn the death of her husband and you've beaten Corypheus, you're the most powerful man ever! She should become a new Love Interest now. no need to have an entire ''romance DLC'' but new romance stuff could be add to a complete story dlc.

...oh and... Scout Harding for romance would be great!

The only romance id like to see added would be Lace Harding. I feel we have plenty of options to choose from.

Id like to see DLC bring more reactivity from companions and npcs regarding the inquisitors specialisation. Was a little bummed that the tempest only got a reaction from iron bull.....

Romance only dlc? No.
New plot, continued story with more romanceable characters, or an option to continue a romance with existing LI's? Yes, yes and yes.

More romanceable characters could be - oh give those guys Harding - and please make Krem an option for the ladies

You can't make us look at such delicious food and then just leave us hungry ;)

If there will ever be a direct sequel for DAI...I would love to continue existing romances (expecialy to bring back a certain bald elf for my Lavellan) or to having flirt/romance with some of the actually unromancable characters. Like Harding, Varric, or Vivienne.

But. Only if is part of a new big chunk of story. I'm not much for romance-exclusive content implemented. But as a side dish for a tasty, rich, story heavy DLC/expansion/direct sequel... bring it on!

As I wrote in a similiar thread, I'd rather see DLC that expanded on the existing romances instead of introducing new ones. None of the options appealed to me, there simply wasn't "my type" among them. Neither straight, bi or gay matters in that case... what I am looking for is an actual relationship and not 4 conversations, 3 cutscenes and 2 conversations/banter from the companions after. There's not enough content in any romance. Things don't change.

Why is your LI not moving into your chambers? Why do they never surprise you with anything? Why do you always have to initiate everything? Why does nothing change?

Oh... and the IB romance? BioWare -really- needs to get some writers who know what they are writing about. Holy crap, this is almost as wrong as 50 Shades of Grey.

Although my main beef with the DA:I romances might simply be that I can't related to any of the NPCs in game, because they are all so... meh. I don't know.

I struggle with the same problem of not really relating to anyone, Sera and Dorian are the only ones I -kinda- relate to.  Usually, in each game, there was someone I automatically connected with.  DA:O it was Leliana, it was her innocence, even though she wasn't, and her accent.  In DA2 it was Merril, I think it was her innocence and her accent as well, that was so what caught my interest.  I also connected to Isabela and Morrigan.  Morrigan was actually my first LI in DA:O, only because I didn't know you could recruit Leliana.  Isabela was an interesting LI and her witty remarks, especially with Aveline and Fenris, would always get me laughing.

I agree though.  We need more LI content.  They seem too short for how long of a game this is.  It's kinda dry.  I just finished my first playthrough, was my second started playthrough because I wasn't really enjoying playing as a mage, as a Rogue female that romanced Sera.  I loved the whole pranking bit.  We just need a bit of extended dialogue and a couple more missions for LIs.

The "mistake" was not to include the typical bad girl DA always had, from that perspective even making Blackwall a female would bring something of it, however I put quotes there because discussing what should  and what shouldn't be in romance options is like putting the cart before the horse (which is the characters  themselves and the story). Heck some people are just dissatisfied with how their options look.

I agree with you.  They don't have the typical bad girl in this game.

Idk if this has been said in this thread or not, why not bring back Isabela or even Morrigan as an LIs??  Or even Tallis?  I actually like the idea of Morrigan being romancable again.   Anyone else?

I agree.

May not as  DLC, but for the next DA chapter, there must be an Option to continue an existing romance for Hawk or the Inquisitor.

Really , its bornig, at every game to start a new romance and u know it wont be something deep.

Keep up the work on romance stories and quests maybe some that are essential to mainstory? more noticed by Party members?

With DAI, BW did a good step to what i could be, so take some more time for a perfect romance/love System.

He's literally the reason I figured out how to use the ignore feature.

Anyway, on topic, I do give OP the credit of not only listing female characters. That's more considerate than most people who demand additional romances. However, the problem is you've listed one bisexual female, which would but F/F relationships up to three, and one male character who people would scream "RETCON!" about if he was anything but straight, which would mean that gay men get left out in the cold. And after all, the whole outrage over straight female elves having four LIs was due to inequality and not "somebody got more than me," right?

i wanna new dalish elven or elven female npc for romance.
Why?
Because in game, like a man you can chose 2 human woman not elven. Why?
I am dalish male elven and i wanna someone, who will fight for future of elven nation.

its good that you cannot chose Sera, because she is crazy, i dont like her.
Should be come Briala from Halamshiral. Or Vellana can return. Its just my wish.

I want a DLC that allows you to continue the romance with Solas. Lavellan finds him, deals with all problems between them, and they end up together, forever. I hate ending it with him leaving... T.T My Lavellan would search to the ends of the earth for him and beyond, no matter how long it took.

I'm always up for some good Romance-enhancing DLC, like the ones for Liara in ME2 and the Morrigan one in DAO.  Romance isn't really the focus, it's got lots of cool action and drama, but in the end you get the really cool romantic scenes that you really want.  Of course I also like the 'new' romances in the DLC, like with Tallis in DA2, that was really cool too.  So I'd say that the best way to do it, is to make the DLC focus on something else other than romance for the most part, but have the romance be a meaningful part to it, if they have something like that in DAI I'd be very interested, maybe it could be for Josephine, maybe it could be for Harding, either one would definitely be mighty cool!
