Female Inquisitor, that is.
Is it just me? I swear half the time she's either slouching as she walks, or hollowing her back and sticking her arse out while standing still. Do male Inquisitors do the gorilla-walk too? I suppose they aren't cursed with the T&A pose, at least.
You just noticed this? First time having female IQ pt, I take. They use the male skeleton on the female and they use the ape macho man animation for male.
There are moments in the game where I see my IQ saying "me Tarzan, you Jane"
I noticed it pretty much from the start and especially after I got the beige PJs, but there were more important topics to complain talk about .
When I remembered I wanted to bring this up, I was actually surprised that I couldn't find a thread on it already.
Oh I seem to remember there being couple a month ago, but yes it is terribly comical and I really don't get why anyone would think that so exaggerated animation was a good idea, perhaps a second set was in planning and was scrapped or something.
It's not only in walking and sitting, at Heaven when IQ is in bed you can clearly see that female structure was not accounted for.
I don't remember femQuisitor walking particularly weird, but I clearly remember manQuisitor running part like he's half jogging and half walking, and part like Donkey Kong. I'm not even exaggerating. Reminds me of Donkey Kong.
Oh, as a side note, when I say walks 'like Donkey Kong,' I mean the arms, not the posture. It's a bit like Donkey Kong's arms in the way the arms stick out from the shoulders.
Bit like this. Best I could find. Just keeps the arms in that arched position and moves like they're stuck there.

It's not just the inquisitor. Watch any of the cut scenes. Leliana does the gorilla walk (they all do) when the quizzy and the advisors are walking in one cut scene. Cassandra looks as though she's limping in the ending sequence to the prologue when she makes her long walk. It's as though the top part (shoulders) work fine but they didn't get lets and hips right.
I hate the slouch and gorilla walk.
To quote my canon dwarf inquisitor:
"I´d llike to see you try to walk like a goddamn runway model while wearing a Legion of the Dead armor and being 4 feet tall!"
Strangely I only noticed this when I started playing as a human warrior. I really didn't think anything looked odd with my qunari but maybe her slouching works because she's so tall she might be trying to look less tall? Where as a human noble from a posho family should definitely now how to stand up straight.
The slouch really defines the character as a true hero for me.
Wait, no, it just looks stupid. Why did the modelers and animators do this?
Not as bad as male dwarf. Seriously, craning your neck forward like that is terrible for your spine (been there done that).
The weirdest part is that neck-craning angle is adopted by TALL people slinging their head forward and down to interact with things at height for normal people. Why the hell do the dwarf men have it?!
You can see it on Varric immediately after some conversations, but only for a second before he goes back to standing like a normal person because he wants to still have a spine when he's seventy.
Oh my God becky, look at her butt! TUNECHI
Yeah totally. My female, human inquisitor walks around like a Neanderthal. Her posture sucks. Even Solas walks with way more grace. Horrid!
I made a male mage and the posturings are correct, and the female posturings are copied from the male ones.
#INQUISITORTRANNVELYAN
It annoyed me to no end that my mage Qunari, who is very proud with the way she looks, slouches everywhere; I think she at least straightened up at the Winter Palace. Always figured Vivienne would be following her around and whacking her with a stick if she slouched for one second once she became Inquisitor.
Yeah, in some scenes my Inquisitor walks as if she has hot coals between her legs. Very annoying.

Did you possibly romance Iron Bull? ![]()
It's weird, but Bioware just cannot get women's walks right. Either they look like the slouchy spread legged thing we have here, or we get a woman who's ass sways so much there's no possible way she could have a spine...
It's really jarring with a female elf because she walks like she's gotta poop, all hunched over, in the cutscenes, but in Solas romance scene she walks like she does when you're controlling her in game - legs close together, not spread out like LEMME POOP. I was hoping they wouldn't reuse the male walk animations for females like they did in ME2...
I never noticed it before, but now I cant unsee it..... thanks OP! LOL

Tell me about it. The gorilla walk made me cringe, and and and when she sit down, she couldn't even close those legs.
Eeeeeeeugh. Elegance, where art thou?
It drives me crazy how she stands/walks all hunched over...you'd think Josephine would comment on it lol. Walking like she has been riding a horse all day doesn't help either, it's hard to take some things serious with that going on. Oh, and the head tilt....wth! For example when your talking to Cullen about taking lyrium..... Love the Dragon Age Line and have spent hundreds of hours playing each but I can't wait for the mods!!! My DAO went from a great game to amazing when I made it my own
The female inquisitor walks like a gorilla because they're using the male animations for her in the cutscenes. And the male inquisitor walks like a gorilla because BW want to make sure that it's perfectly clear that the male inquisitor is a real manly man. It looks bad on female inquisitors and it looks bad on male inquisitors that aren't doing the macho thing.
I've said this before, but I wish we'd just get neutral animations. No catwalk running, no gorilla walk.
It's the frostbite engine. She is suppose to be wearing a large backpack radio pack, rifle and hand grenade. Get photo-shop and paste these into the picture and fol-la! You have a US marine.
Maybe she's suffered a terrible spinal cord injury, and here we are kvetching about her posture while she's bravely attempting to walk whilst in terrible pain. Note how she shifts around on the throne, manspreading to relieve that cracked coccyx. You'd think they could provide just one lousy pillow for all those thrones!
The advisors are all clenching their buttocks together because the facilities at Skyhold have not been repaired (because you still haven't found that elusive quarry).
