Hiya!

As suggested by Cerulione I've joined ^^
This is something I finished the other night: http://almasy87.devi...elyan-512196133

I'd really like any tips or comments on what could be done better, what is missing, what is nice etc - no hard feelings! I know there is much more to improve but I'm kind of a "beginner" with digital colouring and I find it quite hard XD

;)

I can't say anything about shading & rendering, let's say that I lack completely that knowledge. I love the colour and the hands

Well... Actually I wonder, where's Cullen's legs & feets go on your drawing?

Haha yes xD well they are supposed to be behind, hidden so they shouldn't be seen, but I'm not sure that is the correct angle they would go to xD the idea was.. the right leg is bent so you only see a part and the other one is hidden xD
Maybe next time i'll try to make it less "bendy" :P  :D

Okay, let's say this: I don't know anything about proportion (ask Tesh or Sephirona about that they know this subject better).

The thing is even bent, Cullen's body position in your drawing is facing your Inquisitor up to his bottom, so his legs must be in front of him if I'm not mistaken. If it's bent then the waist area should be bent no? And we should see his legs at the bed end no? Well idk, I just think that his legs must be visible somehow (legs are long).

Your quizzy's legs' & sitting position already really great from what I can tell

@ Almasy

You did a good job with the colouring. I like how vibrant everything is. However, to achieve a more dramatic look, make sure to vary your colours. For instance the curtains. They are red, but the colour that the human eye perceives depends very much on the lighting. So, if there is candle light in the room, the highlights will be warm (e.g. yellow). The shadows on the other hand will be cool (i.e. violet). Make sure to check out our help section, where you can see some information on colour theory :)

And, yes, Cullen's legs need a bit of adjustment :) To make it easier for you to draw the human figure in different positions, use a reference image. I know that this is not exactly what you have for your picture, but you can get a pretty good idea of how the foot should be positioned.

Omg! Thank you for that colour suggestion! I found the post you were referring to and that circle with all the colours and shadows/light! I think this is super useful and now I see why my stuff even if I use a lot of colours kinda always looks too flat xD

 you!

As for the leg: yeah, I kinda started thinking that something wasn't right when I was coloring.. Also in the original sketch the bed was smaller but when I coloured I decided I wanted a double bed, not a single bed.. so I added to the lenght of the bed and then at some point Cullen was just in the middle.. so I tried to add a bit of leg but that didn't work as intended!

Anyway! I'm totally gonna put this into practice in my next drawing (will be a Solavellan one) ^^

@ Almasy

Glad I could help :) Colour can be pretty tricky. I am always shy with my palette, so my drawings end up looking quite subdued in tone.

Looking forward to your next piece :)

Here, this is a video explaining about colours & values. It's a bit long (12 minutes) but really great.

I forgot to say Welcome!

As promised :P here is my "other ending" drawing, sad one this time :P

I tried to be less shy with the shadows, I'm sure there are still some improvements to be made but I think it's better than before at least. ^^

(The wolf looks like a dog really.. sigh, first time drawing animals xD)

I can't comment on the shadow (I don't understand light myself) but I find that the concept of Solas walking away in the background is a really good idea

I don't understand colour or shadows, so yeah... really helpful here xD From what I see intuitively, I really like the shadows on Solas face, while those on Lavellan's body seem a bit strange, like she's rounded and smooth surfaced. I also like your colours as Thesayel said, I'm also very shy with colours and my drawings feel much less vibrant.

By they way, I just joined, hi everyone!  ^_^
