Hello guys,

So, this took a while but the MEHEM v0.5 beta is ready for testing.

Get it here.

As always, don't share until we have some test results and I upload the final version.
Install: You know the drill: Just extract the DLC_CON_MEHEM folder from the archive into the ME3 DLC folder. Copy the DLC patcher dlls into the Binary folder if they are not already there and go for it. You can also try out the optional stuff (it's all in the instructions in the archive)

Changes to v0.4:
- The mod is now a DLC
- JohnP's additional LI mod is implemented
- New final Normandy flyby scene (the one that is already on yt)
- Subtitles (speaker names) are fixed

- Emails are corrected for spelling/grammar
- Video timing has been slightly adjusted

- Initial adjustments to the credits

Known issues:

- The subtitle of Joker's first line when he calls Shepard on the Citadel is not synched properly with the audio (I could have fixed it now but the plan for v0.6 is to completely overhaul how dialogue is handled in MEHEM, so I didn't bother at this point and will do it all together).

Things that still need to change before release (I guess, technically it's an alpha then)
- Creating an installer for the mod (giftfish, I am going to add you to the installer credits as I am shamelessly ripping off your NSIS script. :))
- Credits need to be adjusted to get testers in there, also forgot to add RPGenius to the story additions. Please let me know if you feel that your name (or anyone's for that matter) is not in the right place, if I forgot anyone or if you can think of other changes to the credits.

- Cpt.Fob's email conditional will change, so the email actually triggers.

As for testing, please give it a shot with as much variety (romances, high/low EMS, paragon/renegade) as you can and let me know if something doesn't work or if you find anything remotely weird (keep an eye out for Traynor+Ash/Kaidan overlaps in the memorial). Also, if possible, please test on a vanilla game install. I really appreciate any test you can do.

Please, also test if the NG+ save works again. To do that, remove your NG+ save from the save folder of your testShep, make sure you cannot import that Shep into a new game. Then run MEHEM and see if you can now add them. Thanks!

About compatibility: It works fine with Anderson's extended dialogue mod (I tested the dlc version), but feel free to confirm. Other mods like ThaneMOD (definitely), MEHEM2CEM/CEM_lite (maybe) may now have issues, especially with sounds and music (since MEHEM is obviously a low dlc priority and the overwriting files still reference the EC, not the new MEHEM.afc file. I'll try to get to work on compatibility fixes, once you can tell me what does work and what doesn't.

Also, a question for JohnP: I have been looking at your Normandy_LI conditional (the one that checks if there is any LI in the memorial scene). There are two LI entries there, which I can't place:
1. plot.bools(25045) == Bool true
2. (plot.bools[19283] == Bool true) && (plot.bools[18714] == Bool false)
I am curious who these guys are because I can't even think of anyone that is missing (though I guess one of them probably has to do with Thane?)

Anyway, happy testing!!!

Huzzah!

Will start testing quick then. I'll update and restore my mass effect to a base, updated installation. Hopefully will try different romance options with the gib editor.

As for the bools, all I can think of is Thane, Legion, or perhaps true/false flags for Ashley or Kaiden. Haven't looked into those ones.

I'm pumped to test it for you. I have 13 of my own ungibbed Sheps with all but Thane and Steve romances. Now, how early, game wise, do you want the testing to begin? I have autosaves from just about everywhere. Is the beginning of the beam run when Harby shows up and taunts the place to start? Or, do you need at least one test from the beginning of Cronos? Even earlier?

13 Sheps...yes, I'm officially an addict. And I still have JAM version B to use. Looks like at least 2 more trilogy runs. ;)

Oh yea, forgot about the testing start:

It's usually enough to load the Anderson death scene.

However, it would be nice to give one maleShep, one femShep and one lowEMS Shep a try from the beam run autosave. For one thing, that allows your to test Harby's lines and also, in the past we there could be a difference when loading before Citadel:The Return starts.

Also, would be good to load a quicksave from the Normandy and have a look at the corrected emails.

Thanks everyone!!!

EDIT: Oh, btw, has anyone tried it yet? I am kinda curious to know if it works on other people's installs. :)

Thanks for the added info. I just got home, my wife knows I'm only doing this tonight, and I'm currently getting my ME3 install folder vanilled for testing. I'll let you know how it goes once I've gone through a few tests on narrative skill level.

EDIT: Crap. Site says it's busy. I'll keep trying but I can't get the mod yet. Sure, I'll sign up for a free 60 day trial where I don't have to give my credit card info. Downloading. :)

It just wouldn't download but offered a free 60 day trial for Premium to avoid the public waiting. So, since it was free, I did it.

First test done from defending the missile battery (so I could see the first Harby lines) to the end. Femshep, Traynor romance, full paragon to have TIM shoot himself. I did skip the credits once I heard Reignite fire up. And wow, I made the technical credits. I'm honored. Worked without a hitch. Subtitles all looked great (and I know that first Joker subtitle is a known problem.)

I forgot to confirm NG+ on this test (I did see the NG+ file did update to today's date) so I'll make sure to test that properly on the next test I'm doing right now.

So, I'll now focus on after TIM talk with Broshep and some others and just make sure this all works. I may not have a low EMS. How low must the EMS be to trigger that ending?

Also, are you basically using the Additional LI blue and green memorial files or are there more tweaks to it? I may also test my existing MEHEM to CEMF/L stuff as well.

On to more testing! This is my evening entertainment.

EDIT: Completely random thought? Should earth have some fire going on with that final flyby or are you viewing it as the memorial is taking place a bit later in time? Not saying for version 0.5 or even 0.6; just a random idea.

EDIT2: OK, so test 2 hung after the Bioware "Thank You" message.

EDIT3: rookie mistake, hadn't vanilla'd all files out of install directory, just BIOGame. Resolving that now and testing this character again.

Tested moddedMEHEM for fun. Naturally no, because too many files have changed (mainly it's the subtitles.) More importantly tested a Jack romance save with ThaneMOD/Additional LI MEHEM to CEM and works but EDI talks at the end. So, I'll be redoing those transitions as well for people. I'm still testing other saves and will post all results.

EDIT4: Broshep

Jack romance

Worked like a charm

Read all messages from terminal with a save after Cronos station. Comments about Rachni from Sanders are correct with that Shepard. Will confirm with a Shep where the Rachni were not spared.

Technically, still a few things not quite right in the emails (space after a period, its instead of it's since it was referring to "it is.") Minor stuff. Also, written in British english instead of American (realise instead of realize.) Not a big deal and not necessarily something to fix right now.

EDIT5: Femshep

Jacob romance (i.e.; no hugging)

no problems at all

Also, I noticed you were able to take advantage of the dlls from WV and got the audio for Hackett improved in that scene quite a bit. At least, it sounded like it to me.

So, from what I tested, it's good. I'll have to make new MEHEM to CEM transitions so if you can confirm when you have it final I'd appreciate it as I'd love to get to work asap on those transitions.

I'll make my own personal moddedMEHEM and see if anybody cares to ask for it. If they do, you still ok with me releasing an updated version?

EDIT6: As expected. A save with rachni queen not saved shows the correct Kahlee email.

Great!!!! Thanks Deager. That all sounds good.

Few comments:

- If you remove the Legend save, the ending will hang after the message. The legend save is the one that is made before/when you start Cerberus HQ. It is loaded after the message, so if you remoived it, there is nothing to load.

- Memorial file is based on ThaneMOD's MEHEM compatible MemorialGreen file with some modifications (Thane is taken out of the sequence). The blue memorial is essentially the old MEHEM v0.4 Memorial with just a few tweaks to how the voice over is handled. As far as I can see, they should work for MEHEM2CEM but I haven't tested that yet.

- Earth fires: I thought about it, when I first made the scene. Two issues here: 1. I don't have the fiery earth textures in a very high resolution, so if you get close enough to Earth to create Mass Effect's typical planet "arc" view (which is what I want for the final shot), it gets very blurry. Also, I felt that it would be nice to show a rather pristine earth in the final shot, to contrast it with the battle before. I know it doesn't make perfect sense but hey, I might just claim artistic integrity here. :D

Still thinking about putting in some reaper corpses though, and maybe a damaged Citadel in the background, if I can break up the model in a convincing way. Another compromise would be some dark/black clouds as smoke from fires recently extinguished. I'd have to play around with it in UDK a bit to find the right look - if I can find the time to do it.

Also, thanks to giftfish's NSIS script template, the installer is coming along nicely. Should be ready to publish tomorrow or the day after.

Hm, that's really weird. I thought there was a number of 10 downloads before the limit is reached and this group should be private, so I wonder who used up all these dls.

Anyway, thanks guys, next thing I upload, I'll put somewhere more accessible.

I doubt this is it, but I think I've found this devgroup is searchable via Google. It's not https. Still, that seems a bit ridiculous. Is it 10 downloads from your account maybe?

Hmmm, maybe, would have to go through their license again (ugh).

Sorry about the mess with the file. Last time I use adrive for something like this.

Also, man, I miss the old and uncomplicated pm system, where you could pm as many people as you wanted in one group and be sure it was a private conversation.

Wow, thanks heaps Deager! That was a lot of testing in one night. Glad things seem to work fine.

More comments:

- MEHEM2CEM: Not sure if it's easier to just redo the transitions with the new memorial, but if your problem is just with MemorialGreen, all you need to do is take objects #6746 and #6747 from the new memorial and put it into your transition memorial. You'd also have to change the name #664 and #665 in the namelist and adapt that to the new memorial. So yea, not sure what's easier. If you want to make the transition from the blue memorial as well, it would have to be modified in a similar manner. Also not sure if there is something else as well, so the safer bet is probably to re-do the transitions.

- Sound improvements in MemorialBlue: Yea, Sound in the memorials are handled differently now. It's a little trick JohnP told me, so credit for that goes to him.

- email texts: Ok, I think at least Sha'ira and Kahlee Sanders are totally posh enough to write in British English. :D

Also, I am not a native speaker but I do believe "It's" is used when referring to "it is" (it's one of these cute little exceptions that make learning a new language real fun) and the internet says so, too. :) Not sure what you mean by space after a period? Did we miss one? If you remember where, there is still time to fix stuff.

- As for updating the modded MEHEM, sure, go for it. In fact, once v0.5 is completely finished and out, it might be good if you could update the modded version that is on Nexus, so that everyone is automatically on the same page.

Ok, so thanks a ton again. Will just finish the installer tomorrow and then I guess I'll just upload.

Here are the test parameters (I believe these are on NG+. That being said, I have used these saves for so many tests I can't really say. Sorry :/).

Paragon MaleShep, High EMS, Jack LI. Ashley alive (all alive except for Kaiden, Mordin, Thane, Legion)-- Good, no clipping.

Paragon MaleShep, High EMS, Tali LI, Ashley alive--Good

Renegade MaleShep, High EMS, Ashley LI--Good

Renegade MaleShep, (Presumably) High EMS, Samantha LI--Good

What are the titles of the emails again? Forgot. Would like to check.

I love the higher resolution earth. Looks so much better in that last scene. Although, if I may be so bold as to suggest this, I wonder what the effect would be if you decreased the brightness of the sun and increased the brightness of the stars. Might help increase the vastness of space feel, which I always love.

Now a couple minor issues
Videos from MEHEM still look like they are in 480p or so (like the scene where Captain Fob makes his cameo :) ). May have something to do with conversion/compression.

In some videos I get a line of pixels at the top of the video flashing. This also occured in MEHEM v0.4. However, it occurs with prevalance in the final scene. Though I can still watch the scene, it is really distracting.  Also have a thin red parameter around entire screen during scene remembering Mordin. Also occurred in v0.4.

Also, the Kasumi slide is a bit confusing. Considering that the destroy beam no longer kills anything but reapers, the slide of her looking at the broken memory things is a little odd.

Overall, excellent job; appears to work! Will do more testing if I get the chance

Thanks cfs3corsair!

Yea, the videos have always been a big issue. It's something about the export from premiere. When making the Harby mod videos, I have tried a lot of settings and ways to export and none of them worked. Both the low quality and the pixels on the top of the screen are caused by this. Deager said he has a method to export. I still have to gather all my materials for the vids and send them too him. I started pulling them together a month or so ago but got held up and since it's several GB, distributed over several hard drives, it's tough to get it all together.

Still want to send you that stuff though Deager. Will try again on the weekend.

Email titles are:

- Cpt. Fob: "Our debt to you" (this one is not displayed yet in the beta, I just fixed it but you can find the strings in the MEHEM.tlk.

- The one about Emily Wong: "FCC News Broadcast"

- Sha'ira: "Your Destiny"

- Alliance HQ: "ACR: Thanix Cannons"

- Gianna: "Hey Shepard"

- Liara: "CC: Timecapsules"

- Kasumi: "Hi there"

- Kahlee Sanders: "Final Project Update" (this one is sent after Cerberus HQ, so will need a save, right before going to earth in order to see it)

Thanks for the tip on objects for 730. I did keep notes from what I did before so at least I know what I should be looking for but that solidifies it.

I'll find the Its, it's thing. I was reading fast and it looked like it wasn't a possessive but instead "it is." Heck, maybe the post I did earlier said it backwards from what I was thinking. I'll comb through the emails. I'll find that missing space too and point it out.

Also, I ran out of time to test the conditionals on rachni vs no-rachni (and other other possible changes in emails) so I'll do those too.

Yeah, the British vs English is whatever in my mind. Who cares? Plus, it gives the game a little more of a, "This is a galactic community." Which, I should .... actually, I think I need to make an April Fool's video. I have an idea. ;)

EDIT: Oh yeah, the videos. Sure, I don't think I have a real trick. I just know that regardless of the length of videos I've made, I don't get the lines around them when converting to bik. Probably just dumb luck with some settings on my computer. But hey, even the official bioware extended cut videos have a bunch of red outlines on them, which I find funny.

Also, how low was that EMS needed again? I think that the ems is set at the legendsave right? I may not have a Shep low enough at that point. But I'd like to test low EMS for you, just to be sure.

I found the text. Gianna's, ID 960017

"and understanding what makes things tick. Its a far cry from the troubles we saw on Noveria,"

I'm pretty sure should be "tick. It's" since it is a far cry in this case. This also happens to be the missing space I noticed too.

I'll go through the tlk more thoroughly (since I am working right now) but that was the one I wanted to confirm right now.

Thanks, that's great. Will correct the text. Konkojiro over at BSN also found another one in Liara's email ("acquired" was missing the "c"). God, I hate spelling.

I can send you a low EMS save tonight when I get home. I tested it on my rig but it's always good to have confirmation from another computer.

As for the videos, yea, I was supposed to send this to you around New Year I think. Sorry, I started to get my stuff together but then something else came up and it slipped my mind. The problem is, I just don't have very good eyesight, so the low res vids are not a big deal for me. :)

Still, I can see how they can be annoying. We should fix it for v0.6. I'll try and upload asap (weekend).

No worries on the video. It's just a favor I'm willing to try in case I can help. We've learned that 1080p will work as the game automatically plays it at 720p and scales properly. I'm not sure if that's necessary or even makes the videos better to view (I know there are studies showing that more pixels scaled down can look better than going native resolution.) Anyway, I'll do whatever you want. If I can't improve them, well, we tried.

And I think I mentioned before, if you're busy, just supply the raw files and premiere elements (you used that right?) and I can re-link files as needed. I have spare time and I still owe you huge for CEM.

It's going to take me a while to get through this entire thread since there's so much info. I'm only responding to the OP for now.

Changes to v0.4:
- The mod is now a DLC
- JohnP's additional LI mod is implemented
- New final Normandy flyby scene (the one that is already on yt)
- Subtitles (speaker names) are fixed
- Emails are corrected for spelling/grammar
- Video timing has been slightly adjusted
- Initial adjustments to the credits

Yay for DLC mods!

Going to have to think carefully about all this. I'm pretty sure TMv2.0 might have some compatibility issues, but let me think and try to find time to test, lol.

I totally ditched the credits music for the current release of ThaneMOD (v2.0), so there shouldn't be any issues there. It'll be back for v3.0, though.

Things that still need to change before release (I guess, technically it's an alpha then)
- Creating an installer for the mod (giftfish, I am going to add you to the installer credits as I am shamelessly ripping off your NSIS script. :))

Lawl. No problem. I ripped off what I could from wavion's 0.3 MEHEM script, but it was so different (no pretty GUI) that I had to make most from scratch.

1. plot.bools(25045) == Bool true
2. (plot.bools[19283] == Bool true) && (plot.bools[18714] == Bool false)
I am curious who these guys are because I can't even think of anyone that is missing (though I guess one of them probably has to do with Thane?)

25045 I'm not sure about. Maybe Samara? JohnP has added her to the romance scene, so that might be for her.

19283 is Thane's romance bool, T=romance. 18714 is Thane's death bool, T=died.

One thing I was going to talk to you about Fob, is I'd like us to make some edits to the epilogue for ThaneMOD v3.0. I've started a thread on the TM forum about it. My goal is to have only two versions of ThaneMOD: MEHEM and EC/JAM. With the work on wwisebanks we're getting close to me being able to ditch the friend and romance versions (assuming my current theory works, lol). If I can get ThaneMOD  down to just two versions based on ending type, then I also want to be able to make sure the user can keep it installed regardless of romance status or ME2 import conditions (Thane being alive or dead).

What the above means in relation to MEHEM, is we need to implement additional conditional checks for the epilogue. They'll have to take into account the two bools above, along with loyalty and Thane's SM survival bool. If I learn some more sequence modding, I might be able to figure out how to do it myself, but my guess is you'd have a much easier time, ha.

At any rate, no rush. Release is a long way off. But, I wanted to "put a bug in your ear," as we say in the States. Yum!

---------------------

I'll read up on the rest of the thread as I can over the next few days :)

@Fob -- I forgot to add. Google Drive is awesome for large files. If you have a Gmail account you already have access. You can upload files of pretty much any size and then just grab the share link for others to download with. I did this with the final textbuild before v2.0 which was half a gig. No "file-sharing" service needed.

Oh thanks giftfish!

Few comments (as always :)):

- ThaneMod compatibility: The memorial needs to be updated, since it now references different sound files (I can do that and send it to you). The epilogue files should be fine (at least for the original OST, Julia's might have an issue) but I have to check.

I downloaded the archive with the manual ThaneMOD files from Nexus. I assume this is the most current version?

Also, if you get around to run a test with MEHEM v0.5 and ThaneMod and let me know what doesn't work, that would be a big help to get these files updated for compatibility.

- I find NSIS pretty cool actually. Still have to try vpatch but it looks good so far. Thanks again for publishing that script.

- Good spotting on the Thane bools, I figured one of them had to be him. I also think you are right about Samara. It's definitely a Citadel conditional. hing is, I did look at Samara's Citadel moment and couldn't find the conditional (or plot bool change for that matter), so I was confused. But maybe I just didn't look closely enough, it was 2 am at the time. :)

- ThaneMod epilogues, wwise objects etc.: Oh crap, I just found out that I can view this thread even if I am not logged in. Sending you a pm giftfish.

Oh, and thanks for the tip with google drive. Will use it next time. Should have figured our google overloads have the solution to ... well ... everything.

@Fob--

Omg...version 0.6...0.7? ThaneMOD v3.0 is supposed to be the end of my modding career... >.>

I'm going to forget you spoke of that for right now, lest I lose my sanity. Onto the other details:

--Most recent files. Yep, v2.0F will have everything you need. You can also download v2.0D/E, as neither have installers; it's just the raw files. There's no difference between the two in epilogue files (other files, yes). v2.0E includes a different CitHub_HospitalP2 pcc that has been updated with the paramour achievement, and this is the file that's used to stream Thane into the Memorial Scene. I'm guessing that wouldn't need editing, though.

--Do the music pointers need to be updated if I haven't included any BioSnd files with ThaneMOD v2.0? Does this get into the stupid main menu music stuff, lol?

--I'll try to test sometime this weekend.

--NSIS. Blarg, I hate it. But, you have much more technical knowledge than I do. I seriously almost had an aneurysm trying to learn how to use it. Not user-friendly at all, lol.

--Samara. Looks like state transition 7366 sets bool 25045. That's just from me taking a quick look with TankMaster's tool. Not sure if it will help or not.

--"However, I will need to make new wwise soundbank objects and triggers for that one, so this will be my testing project for these changes. It's easier because there won't be any conditionals involved. Once I have that down, we can go over the epilogues of ThaneMOD and try to implement the friend/romance options in one file."

To be clear, these already are combined in one version. ThaneMOD for MEHEM (v2.0D/E) uses the same set of epilogue files. There's no difference.

My comment about combing friend and romance versions is due to the Huerta dialogue restriction (I've stolen friend/unloyal lines and used them for the romance convo).

My other comment about adding more conditional/bool checks to the MEHEM epilogue is because right now MEHEM *assumes* Thane is loyal and alive at the end of the game. There are no conditional checks for it. It assumes Thane has imported alive into the PT and that ThaneMOD has worked properly. This means that a player with Thane dead from the SM or unloyal (which would result in his death during the coup) could play through the MEHEM ending with ThaneMOD, and they would get the friend version of Thane's flashforward slide.  Despite Thane being dead, lol.

We did this to lighten workload with v1.0, but it's something I'd like fixed for the final release. That way folks can install ThaneMOD once and then forget it's even there :]
