Secret ending?

Thanks for the Jacob info. I agree about Jacob...dry as toast, lol.

Oh yes, MEHEM has one super secret ending. You have to meet a couple of very specific requirements to see it. ;)

Unfortunately, people found it by ging through the mod files long before anyone ever came across it in game (which is a real shame). I guess we made it too secret.

EDIT: Or ... one (read: Deager) could just link a video I guess.

BTW: Did some texture mod testing yesterday night (just emailed Deager). So, when having unextracted original DLCs and custom DLCs (like MEHEM) Treescan works fine and extracts the DLCs (if not perfectly). But then, TPF tools crashes when installing textures and the game crashes if you try to load a level with changed textures. :(

Will do some more testing tonight and then report to KFreon. I think I am going to create a forum page about MEHEM + texture modding, and then link that forum page in the installer. That way, I can change the guide as this situation develops. Teplorer/TPF Tools seems to be fairly dynamic and change a lot, so it'sbest to keep the guide dynamic as well.

I just read the email. I'll test those saves for you tonight unless something comes up as my wife and I do go on dates. :)

I just started dabbling in texplorer for my 13th trilogy run and so I didn't risk doing it with "mods as DLC" and instead did manual installs of MEHEM and such. I'll do some treescan tests myself but I suspect I'm going to have the same issue. My first test, as you may have read, took my pcc files out of my CEMF and JAM folders. I didn't confirm if it moved them to the DLC_CON_END or Pack_003 folders but whatever the case...weird stuff happened.

So, I'll try to test that tonight, for sure on Saturday at the latest.

Yeah, sorry for spoiling the secret ending. Your call giftfish on watching it or not. I know JohnP was the first to report it. I wasn't even looking for it; I just stumbled onto the answer when I was trying to figure out MEHEM to CEM stuff.

EDIT: By the way, I had never watched the "message from Bioware" on the secret ending. If that's actually in game somehow...I gotta meet those requirements!

EDIT2: rev685 is current right? Just want to be sure. My svn is mad about something but I think it's just some ME3Explorer.exe.config file I have in the Debug folder.

Nah, that's ok, it's been out there for a while.

The message is not different than usual, that's just something wavion did for that video (I have actually not seen that before :)). I thought about changing it for MEHEM in general but decided against it. I think since the EC, the message is not quite as bad anymore, so I didn't want to mess with BioWare's last words too much. Might be fun changing it, just for the secret ending though. Something to do for v0.6. :)

Thanks for testing, and no rush. I don't think I'll get around to finish my own testing tonight either, so v0.5 will not be released before the weekend.

One thing...not that I need to release MEHEM to CEM on the same day, but from everything you're seeing so far, the 720 and 730 files are almost 100% final, correct? I wouldn't mind being ready with my transitions a little ahead of time but it's not a huge thing.

Since no one found bugs in these files, the memorial files of the beta are not going to change, compared to the final ones.

...Assuming all goes well with ThaneMOD, ha.

And the secret ending is hilarious, though, I'm pretty sure female users don't enjoy the Liara poster nearly as much as the male users. Harbinger Hamster is awesomesauce. I'm never going to be able to look at him the same way again!

Thanks for linking, Deager. Got my giggles for the afternoon :]

In fact, because of that poster, romancing Liara is one of the requirements to get the ending. :)

I am not sure wha exactly the requirements were but I think it was

- romance Liara

- have the hamster

- have the fish feeder VI

- Have the second highest EMS category (between ~2500 and 3100)

Not sure if there was anything else right now.

...Assuming all goes well with ThaneMOD, ha.

If this was about the memorial files, actually, ThaneMOD doesn't play into it because it will get it's own memorial files for the compatible version. The ones, that are in MEHEM will not work for Thanemod on their own. That's why I gave MEHEM a lower DLC priority than ThaneMod, so that ThaneMod can then override MEHEM and use it's own files.

(Point of interest: Is it override or overwrite? Both are accepted by spell check but I could never figure out which means what.)

I would say override because overwrite, to me, implies replacing something, whereas override implies leaving the other alone, but "dominating/going over" something else. No, I didn't google it so I could be wrong.

Booooo! Lol.

Yeah, I realize that. I meant more like...what if the ThaneMOD files need updating for things to work properly. But, I see what you are saying; those are different files, so the current beta ones wouldn't need editing anyway.

I agree with Deager. "Overwrite" implies the contents of one file are replaced on the disk by another file (via writing). As when you copy over something and give the permission for "overwrite." When a file is overridden, it's integrity on the disk remains intact, but it is simply "overruled" by the information contained in the overriding file.

Gotcha, override it is.

And as for Liara, you can always use sequence editor to change those conditional checks. :)

(Actually, that reminds me, I have to check if the secret ending is in the file, I used as a starting point for v0.5. I hope I didn't kick it by accident. If that is the case, I will actually have to update the file.)

Low ems worked just fine. Side note: that ending really benefits from the Reignite song for the credits.

I'll do some testing with texplorer on some DLC now to see if I can figure out what exactly is going on.

For me, I was able to create the tree with rev685. I'm installing Smarteck's Citadel DLC HD pack. It's jamming up on the Checking TOC.bin. The "dos window" is rebuilding header and the last bit it was touching was DLC_EXP_Base, so ironically, not any of the content mods (MEHEM and CEMF in this test.) However, it could be working on one of those and I just can't see it.

I can say that it did apply textures to stuff in MEHEM and CEMF, I'm guessing, because the date modified is on certain pcc files but not others. Not sure if that had to do with the scanning though.

Anyway, still stuck a bit with textures at the moment.

Yep, same as me then. I think the problem is that DLC extraction still doesn't work correctly. Check the sfars after extracting with Texplroer. The tlk files, afc files and the PCConsoleTOC.bin is still in the sfar. No wonder the game messes up. Unfortunately I don't have time to test this tonight. Hopefully tomorrow. I want to run a test with self-extracted sfars, but then, I guess we have to ask KFreon to change his code for Texplorer to extract DLCs fully and copy the PCConsoleTOC.bin in the right place.

BTW, thanks for the low EMS test. Glad it works. :)

True that.

I'm not Liara averse like some folks, but like Deager says, I just can't get through ME2 (or an ME3 import) without romancing Thane. It's jsut not possible, which pisses me off a bit, b/c I'd like to romance Garrus. But, as soon as Thane appears in game it's just all over, lol.

I might try playing through ME3 at some point as a non-import, though. I'd like to do the Steve romance, and it would also be a good way for me to do the Liara romance. Or, I could also try to import an ME1 save directly into ME3 and skip ME2. Do the Liara romance that way with one of my FemShep's.

Yeah, even extracting manually doesn't pull out TOC.bin I don't think. I went over this with Kfreon at the time when I was putting together testbuilds for TMv2.0. Asking him if Texplorer extract all files and if it didn't, if everything would still work. He just wasn't paying a lot of attention to the new DLC mod method and thinking about that in the context of Texplorer and sfar extraction. He's still very much in "PCC/TFC mode" since those are the only files that matter to textures. Understandable, but it's a broader issue now.

It's really something that shold be worked out soon and fixed so a new SF version can be released. SF is still on rev653 from last July/August. That was before all the big changes with the texture-related tools, and it doesn't handle DLC mods with textures correctly. SVN builds since then have been a bit hit and miss with all the texture-related changes. It seems something different is broken in each rev (pathing, extraction, etc). It's not really viable to be telling mod users to update to the SVN when so many things are still in flux. That's exactly why they *shouldn't* be updating in my opinion. But, my perspective seems to be in the minority. Majority opinion seems to be to tell folks when something doesn't work on the SF, they should update to the SVN.

Blarg. At any rate, yeah. It needs to be worked out. And, I have to make sure I explain all this right as I'm setting up all these User Tool articles on the wiki. Not fun, ha.

Well, I could ppossibly make a mod for ME2 for you, which removes Thane's recruitment mission. That way you can finaly romance Garrus. Wouldn't that be ironic: I'd call it "Anti-ThaneMOD" nad the credits will read "dedicated to giftfish". :D

As for the textures: Yea, it definitely need to be ironed out. We have quite a few really good DLC mods now. I think it deserves some attention. Let me finish my tests and look through the code to see how Texplorer manages DLC extraction right now. Maybe if I can suggest a viable solution to KFreon, he will implement it. I mean, if I can get it to work properly manually, it shouldn't be too tough to code. It's jst a matter of extracting and juggling some files around the right way.

I never like to bug those guys but it certainly sounds like KFreon and WV like to know what could be useful. If KFreon could create an extraction like that, we'd be golden. Plus, then I could use my custom DLC_CON_MODS folder where, before I used texplorer, I ran every mod I used in one package. Made life real easy.

EDIT: Cameras. I think I'm getting pretty good at finding them. Maybe...I'm starting to use that sweet camera tool a bit more. I have a feeling JohnP and giftfish already have it mastered and explained.

Wow. That was a lot of catching up to do.

And yeah, that's a big negative on Jacob in the memorial.  :)

Fob: Yes, 25045 is set when you do her Citadel romance scene.

Perish the thought. Shame on you for even suggesting such blasphemy!

I still really, really want a PCCEd2 and Sequence Editor for ME2 (among other things). I want to make a mod that fixes the bug where Jack always catches Shep during the final leap. I want Shep's LI to catch him/her, dammit.

I'd also like to fix the missing primary codex entry for the drell race, fix some dialogue, etc....

Did you see my research post on the animcutscenes? All sorts of camera stuff. Pretty sure I've tracked most of it down. I haven't tried editing any coordinates like you have for CEM, though.

Lawl. Well, it's a good thing. It's going to be nicely consistent will all the work I'm doing for BackOff.

I think Jacob is actually turning out really, really well. Much more in line with his ME2 personality. I think his (few) fans will be pleased. I don't think folks who romanced him will be *happy* but I think they'll find it...tolerable.

Lawl. Yeah, I'm with you. But it's there...you have to hunt for it. And, a bit like Thane, once you romance him you see more of it and it changes.

I know all this via YT, btw. The hell if I ever romance him. That'll never happen, lol.

On the topic of emails: all three games don't treat the names of the species as proper nouns. E.g. it's humans, asari, turians, etc. and not Humans, Asari, Turians. Not really a grammar issue, just a consistency thing with the rest of the trilogy.

@Fob --

Ok, just got done testing the romance version and we do have a couple problems. These might be things you were anticipating, Fob, I'm not sure. Note, this is ThaneMOD v2.0E with the MEHEM v0.5beta:

Both the flashforward slide and the Memorial Scene are broken.

  • Normally, Thane's slide shows up between Jacob and Samara's, but it's completely absent.
  • In the Memorial Scene, EDI appears in the LI spot; Thane is absent. His name is absent from the wall, as should be when he's avoided the coup.

Everything else in the ending works. I played from the post-TIM confrontation autosave.

Maluka's credits music was present; no conflicts there since I didn't include credits music for TMv2.0. IT will be back for v3.0, like I mentioned (yay AFC tutorial!).

----------

I'm going to take a look at the emails, next, before I swap out and test TM v2.0D (friend-MEHEM).

Also, I figured out one of the things we need to fix for TMv3.0. I'll put that content on the TM forums, though :)
