Choices you always (or always don't) make

The Mass Effect series has hundreds of different branching choices just begging for you to make more than 1 character so you can explore different options and make completely different choices to your last Playthrough.

There are however a couple of things I can't not do even if I'm roleplaying as a saint or a psychopath. What about you? Are their some choices you just can't not make no matter what your roleplaying your shepard as? Do you always broker peace between the Geth and Quarians? Always destroy the collector base? Or just always punch that damn Reporter?

And are there some things you can never do? Can you just not make yourself sabotage the genophage cure? Let Samara die to get Morinth?

Always:

Romance Liara

Save Council

Save geth(if peace is not possible)

Choose Destroy

That's... it, really. Can't remember anything else at the moment, but as you mention, there are hundred of choices. So if anybody mentions something I forgot right now, I may add it to this post.

So some of the things I always have to do:

1) Use the Renegade interrupt on Kai-Leng. Bastard dies no matter what, I just want to break his sword before it happens.

2) Support Major Kirrahe on Virmire. Even when I'm playing renegade I just want that extra XP.

3) Get the Refund guy his refund. I'm sorry this guy has been desperately trying to get his 15 credits for over three years. Not even my totally renegade shepard who shot down innocent colonists, killed his allies and destroyed entire races could not get that guy his refund. Got to admire his dedication.

And some of the things I never do:

1) Miss on purpose when shooting bottles with Garrus. Garrus is a Bro. Bro's do not lie to each other. If Garrus is going to erect a statue on the Citadel it should be for an honest reason.

2) Refuse ending. Okay this is probably going to annoy some people, but to me this ending just feels like killing everyone. And I while I'll be willing to kill of a few of my favourite ME characters in a particularly renegade playthrough I can't bring myself to get all of them killed.

3) Kill Wrex. C'mon it's Wrex!

That's all I can think of for now, there's probably a few more.

I never go the psychopath way. My renegdes are pragmatist. I've never had them. Kill without good reason or solid gain. For exemple I've never ever saved Morinth.

I try to change things up as a bit between playthroughs, so I'm really close to having tried all options at least once.

But there are some really hard ones I almost never pick:

-kill the Feros Colonists

-get Kirharre killed

-destroy the Collector Base

I find it really hard to justify these for any Shepard

(Bonus: picking neutral options in the presence of so much better paragon/renegade responses)

I never kill Wrex. No matter the playthrough, paragon/renegade, I just can't bring myself to let that big bastard die.

Always Soldier in SP, always romance Ash in 1 and 3 and Miranda in 2. Always paragon as I prefer it over Renegade.

I always had Kaidan die.

I always had MIranda talk to her sister.

Once I figured out how to save everyone on the SM (ME2), I always did it

As a completionist, I always did the UNC missions and every side mission in ME1,2.  I did every upgrade, and every mission in both of those games.

I have ran both games as full renegade and full paragon, but the majority was full Paragon.

I never give the collector base to cerberus. Never romance Jack. Never sabotage the cure or kill wrex. Never recruit Morinth or let samara kill herself.

I always save as many as possible, and always kill Kai Leng. Always help Tali from getting exiled without telling the truth.

I always...

- Save the council
- Spare Shiala and the colonists on Feros
- Romance Liara in all three games
- Spare the Rachni queen (ME1/ME3) and Elnora
- Stop Samara from commiting suicide
- Side with the Geth
- Choose Destroy

- some interrupts ("You talk too much" etc.) and minor dialogue choices (no support for Saracino etc.)

I never paragon or renegade the judges into submission in Tali's trial, and I never paragon or renegade Tali and Legion into agreement on the Normandy. Both just seem like a massively convenient cop out. Consequently I'm left without the peace option on Rannoch, and so far I've never picked Geth over Quarians.

I never pick Refuse. Leaving trillions to be horribly murdered so Shepard can die on his soap box is not cool.

Also never pick Morinth.

Might be others but off the top of my head that's all I can think of.

I never choose any ending but the Destroy ending

I can't bring myself to choose Synthesis even though i was aiming to in one playthrough, i don't want these bastards to feel! they don't get to have the beauty of a sapient mind

And Control? that just too much power, Destroy it is

Pretty sure I've made all the choices over my playthroughs but when I play as me:

save ashley

save rachni

spare shiala

save feros colonists

get Anoleis arrested

spare kirrahe

spare wrex

kill father kyle and cultists

kill helena blake

kill fist

save council

anderson for council

punch reporter (of course)

get loyalty and save all crew in me2 (damn i wish me3 had something like this with war assets)

cure genophage (hate losing mordin tho)

save samara

help quarians weaken geth

prevent tali's exile

end overlord

destroy collector base

I've chosen to forget all me3 decisions because they have little to no impact by the end.

Well, I never choose Morinth. Just don't see a point of it. She's a murderer, and she won't change from that. It's something she needs to do. So, killing her is a smart thing to do.

There are plenty of choices I have yet to make in the trilogy but so far the only one I think I wont be making is choosing Morinth over Samara because I can't see the logic in doing it so.

Maybe if Morinth had a cameo role like Samara did in ME3 I might consider it.

I don't me myself choosing Synthesis.

(Probably missing a few...or a lot.)

Always:

Prevent Wrex dying on Virmire

Save Kaiden on Virmire

Help Kirrahe's team on Virmire

Kill Morinth

Complete all loyalties in ME2

End Overlord and send David Archer to Grissom Academy

Awaken Grunt

Awaken Legion

Destroy Heretic Geth

Prevent Tali's Exile (Without using the Paragon option, better to incite the crowd IMO :P )

Stop Garrus killing Sidonis (This actually ties in nicely IMO if you have a 'change of heart' since allowing Garrus to kill Dr.Heart in ME1 or allowing him to shoot Fade)

Destroy ending in ME3

Peace with Geth and Quarians

Cure the Genophage

Kept Genophage data in ME2

Romance Tali

Romance Garrus (FemShep save,  got...curious  )

Save Rachni Queen

Never:

Synthesis/Refuse/Control endings in ME3

Have below 4000 War Assets (I go and collect everything i can, any side missions/etc are done :P )

Let Cerberus have Collector Base.

I have never, and will never, free the Reaper-made Rachni breeder in ME3. My renegades may be ruthless and uncaring and occasionally psychotic, but they are not stupid.

Other than that, I think have chosen each option at least once and continue to try and mix things up.

I currently have never had any male Shepard romance Steve, Kaidan or Tali.
