I honestly don't see what the issue is.

It's nudity. We're adults.

The "issue", according to the OP, isn't one of nudity but of the objectification of women.

And while that is an issue, it has nothing to do with what she's complaining about. To reiterate what I wrote 117 pages ago, objectifying women = treating actual women as objects. The OP apparently takes issue with objects that are shaped into women.

Which means companies that manufacture dolls and mannequins are also fault.

Queen pieces on a chess board are probably also a no-no as these pieces represent women and chess involves manipulating pieces on a board. Ergo, chess = woman manipulation simulator.

I find it bit odd as well. I guess it would be similar than walking around with naked woman in your shirt, something that would be akward to do ^^; Idk, to me this idea of naked figure in the staff doesn't feel fitting, statues and ornaments yes, but something that you carry around with you? ^^;

Have you SEEN some of the staff head designs? One of them is just a jumble of blocks.

 

I really think people are overthinking this - or are just oversensitive. Either works. Hell, I think it's inappropriate that my Inquisitor should look less stylish than 90% of the characters in the game simply because I picked a non-human, but nobody cares about that.

I have never once walked into a clothing store where I found that absolutely everything they had on display was something that I personally would want to wear. Doesn't mean I think they shouldn' be selling what doesn’t appeal to me.

Equally, the game offers a variety of weapon ornaments. If you don't want the nudie staff, don't get the nudie staff. Also don't assume others role play their Inquisitors as you do. Get something more appropriate to your role playing sensibilities. That's why the variety is there to begin with.

Honestly, some people in this thread are veering dangerously close to the mentality of activists who lobby to get video games "sanitized" if not outright banned and that whole mentality begins with: "If I don't like this, then why is it here?"

I realize other people play it differently, but the game's storyline itself presents the role of Inquisitor as a position of honor and prestige. Andraste's golden t!ts.

I get the impression that most people don't think that a symbol of the prophet of the religion the Inquisition is ostensibly fighting for is inappropriate. Certainly, within the context of the world of Thedas, they don't see it that way.

 

What you might consider appropriate in the real world isn't going to translate into a fictional world where the symbol is considered revered, and appropriate.

Right. Prestige, honor, respectability... nude imagery has NO place anywhere within such an institution. The Inquisition is meant to be a force for justice!

You know breasts can be depicted in a way that aren't inherently sexual, right? The feminine form isn't an inherently inappropriate or obscene thing. It's not like she's lifting up her shirt and flashing everyone. She's depicted in a holy, ascended-looking pose with a halo behind her. When the "Divine Justinia" in the Fade revealed itself to be a spirit with a feminine form, were you also thinking "boobs"?

Having both these items are the best of their type forces you to choose between having the best gear and constantly feeling uncomfortable. Really Bioware, given the inclusiveness and respect I've come to expect from you this was a big disappointment. 

 

Bioware isn't responsible to make you feel comfortable about the human body. The fact that YOU feel uncomfortable is on YOU and you have a perfect remedy don't buy MATURE title games that clearly state there is NUDITY and Sexual content in the title.

 

SUCK IT UP! You KNEW this title had sexual content and nudity. When a product is CLEARLY labelled that it has content you object to it is NOT the developers problem it is yours for buying the product. I mean for FRACKSAKE the industry gives you a rating system and tells you why a game has said rating so you can make an INFORMED decision not so you can whine that you this content makes you feel uncomfortable after you choose to IGNORE the warnings.

This is on you no one else. I personally don't see the human form as disrespectful. There is nothing sexualized about the staff, nudity isn't sexualization. So the fact that YOU have a problem with it is on YOU don't buy fraking mature titles that CLEARLY state they have said title because of nudity and sexual situation if this type of stuff offends you.

Perhaps it's just the time of morning, but reading a complaint about a staff in the shape of a nude woman made me think of:

Correct me if I am wrong on this but isn't the naked figure about as detailed as a barbie doll with no clothes if not less so? So its just a shape of a naked figure with no huge detail on the naked body.
