I wonder if any gamers threw a fit way back when the Hidden Palace zone was cut from Sonic 2.
What I bought is not what I was sold.

Well if it was hidden I imagine no one noticed anyway...?

I really don't understand why this topic is "risk of closure" you have hundreds of topics. This is the first one. I ever seen. That has a big red warning label. "Risk of Being Closed" for what. Only thing comes to mind is the topic of the thread. They did change this game alot. Maybe they removed some of the choices that actually mattered. It's almost nothing like it was before.
Before you had choices. You could throw fire at the ships to stop them from getting away. I also heard you were able to order soliders to dispatch to certain areas. If you did they would thinned out. You would be vunerable for an attack. I don't get why all that was rooted out. Here we have an open world. I love Dragon Age. I really do. I bought the game for choices.

This thread has the warning because some folks launched into personal attacks earlier in the thread. It has nothing to do with the topic. I have seen the label before. First time was sometime over the holidays.

What exactly are you basing this on? A 20-30 minute snippet of pre-alpha gameplay, where the actual gameplay part is *virtually identical* to how it is now, and the only difference is the specific quest content?
God, I hate hyperbole.

Giving you choices in video games comes with a whole load of issues, resources being a major one. With the Crestwood choice from the demo it could simply be a case of that they removed that choice from the game because the potential payoff from it wasn't worth the time/resources or having that choice didn't make sense the more they developed other parts of the game. Personally I think it's a case that some of the things we were to have choices over were merged into the judgment and war table mechanics because both of those would require less resources than having them play out as full length missions with consequences.
Yes it's not as fun or as immersive as being able to choose what happens in certain circumstances but game dev is unfortunately a balancing act from start to finish. You have to juggle time/budget/resources and try and produce a quality game without running your dev team into the ground or going over time and budget and sadly that means that certain ideas and mechanics get dropped. Believe me, all dev's want their games to be the best that they can be and when they remove stuff or change it drastically it's normally for very valid reasons, not to screw fans over.

Plus again, I need to point out how superficial most choices are in pretty much every game, since they never change the nature of the plot overall.

Have you heard anything about ISIS? Maybe the mods think that the jihadist movement that is terrorizing Libya hides in this topic.

Actually the warning was applied a few days ago because of a number of personal attacks that were derailing the thread. I suppose it can be removed now.

Back to on topic. It looks like almost nothing from the Demo. Made it into the actual game. I just wonder if the game we missed out on. Had choices. I remember them saying something about you have to decide if you want to send soldiers into this one town. If you do they will be stretched thin. Leaving other locations vulnerable.I'm just curious why they decided to throw all that out.

The big change is one of plot.
- A plot of Red Templars landing on the beaches, is replaced by,
- Grey Wardens looking for the 'missing warden'.
I'm not going to second guess which plot was better, burning boats is not required if you are looking for a warden.
It may have related to plot balance with the Emerald Graves and Emprise du Lion.
The place is pretty much identical.
The left hand shots are from Digiexpo 2013, the right hand, screen-shotted today with my Inquisitor Lavellan.
View over Crestwood:

Down to the crossroads, (Grey Wardens were here as shipped)

Overlook Crestwood village, Red Templar attack vs. undead attack.

Up through the caves into the Keep:

and standing outside Crestwood village:

In the pre-alpha version you do get some choices, but these are plot related.
Regardless of what was kept and lost, to suggest that almost nothing from the demo made it into the actual game,
is somewhat of an exaggeration.

I would have liked those features to be there in the finished game, but I am not unsatisfied with DA:I at all. I loved it. Would have liked the top direction thingy... Reminds me of Skyrim, would be nice with my poor sense of direction ![]()

in fact, due to gameplay design and how it was advertised it is a different product from the desription and once installed. Since there is no laws to determine game play types, EA-Bioware can can away with it.
sold as a RPG but has a bad hybrid of MMO and Hack & Slash game play

It's surprising the number of people who have apparently never played an MMO or Hack & Slash game. Because anyone who has would not make this comparison.
