What are they talking about "we couldn't have quadrupeds before" Mabari? Bears? Archdemon/high dragons? Halla? Drakes? Wolves? wut?(There's gotta be bonus points for spiders and broodmothers too.)

They're talking about Frostbite. Frostbite had no quadriped support before the DA team got their hands on it.

Apparently. Still doesn't explain the horrible hair. But I recently made a new character and was reminded about ... whatever that was supposed to be.

It makes sense if you think about it. There typically aren't a lot of non-bipeds running around in shooters. It probably just never came up before DAI.

I was going to play DA:I again and time myself on all the story missions, companion interactions, time spent in skyhold/crafting/etc...and then stop the timer for the "side quests" (and of course only do as many as I would need to progress) to see how long the game is without them but then I hooked the xbox 360 back up and played Skyrim instead lol.

Early development is the product of as much wish fulfillment by the devs as fans also have about games. They have new toys, they are trying to accomplish all the neat things they either had to cut previously or dreamed of in the meantime. To use anything from this period as justification for a complaint or refund is asinine.

I have checked in the mirror, and I cannot see anywhere the word 'SLAVE' written.  You will just have to do your own research and archive hunting I'm afraid.

Hey, you're the one making an argument. So, present your evidence.

I think it may have been one of the fan made vids made prior to actual Bioware released footage. Had no idea of such at the time, but was enjoyable considering if was not from a release state rendition of the game.

Guess they were correct; it does not take a genius to see deception in the hype....

Right. That's why I said "Bio actually release" earlier. If Bio had put out the pre-alpha stuff as a trailer there'd be a pretty good case for deception. But Bio didn't do that.

except that in this case they very much do, for me. The masked empire serves as a direct prequel to DAI really and the canon lore is laid out in the novels. Btw i was explaining why people stick around to complain about things that they are attached to or have invested a lot of time in, not arguing that absolutely nobody who is invested in the franchise/lore actually likes the direction bw is heading in.

Bingo. Well said.

After ~300 hours of gameplay since release, I'd say I got some value out of DAI.

there is a difference between buying a single game that you dont like and buying games that are part of a franchise and lore that you really love. Some of us have read all the books and played the games because we really DA lore, as it has been set up by the original dragon age. There are in total five novels , on top of numerous comics, films etc etc. Several novels were released even before DA 2. Excuse us for caring about something and getting a bit upset to see it go down the drain. The novels have been getting better with time, while the games are heading in the opposite direction. bw keeps mucking it up all the while paying lip service to "go back to the roots". I do not idolize DAO, its a very flawed game, but instead of building upon the foundation that was laid there, theyve been playing whackamole with the franchise. I dont understand why they dont take a couple of notes from the ME team and build upon what is there in the first place, make it better instead of experimenting with ridiculous and poorly thought out ideas, dragging the series from one end to the other, and never in a good direction mind you. DAI is an even bigger mess than DAO was though, both gameplay-wise and technically speaking. Logically i know why they are doing these things, but their execution and line of thinking is a bit naive based on what theyve said and what their design is supposed to reflect, trying to chase the skyrim crowd when their game mechanics and game engine do not support the very key features that made skyrim such a big hit in the first place.

I've done that I was a big fan of Total War played every game from Rome to Rome II which I seriously disliked. I still didn't cry murder on the forum. I'm not decrying someones right to do it, just saying I don't understand it.

Nor do grunts in shooters typically have luxuriant long hair.

You could make a list of what DA does not yet have at an advanced state alongside what shooters don't have.

I'm not blaming anyone for that, it's just the starting point they had.

You could burn down boats and stop enemies from advancing by destroying bridges in the early version? Shame it didn't get to see the light of day.

Perhaps not those exact objects, but I used such tactics to topple some desert dwelling archers on a bridge, and was bale to remove cover at many locations. Believe this is why so many containers sparkle a bit; so they may be targeted; uncertain.

....so you're upset about the fact that Bioware was unable to provide the stuff shown in a alpha video....stuff they never promised in the advertising in the lead up to the game....and to retaliate you are going to Obsidian....the guys responsible for the broken mess of a game called Alpha Protocol and the unfinished KOTOR 2: The Sith Lords

You know what.....Goodbye and Goo luck.

I like how the fan boys blame the customer. In the end after profound contemplation, I feel they're right we are to blame. In the future we should stop buying the products since we're to blame for buying them.

At the same time, pre-release material does create a particular impression of the game.

You're being quite unreasonable. Not doing due diligence is not an excuse to feel upset.

If you were silly enough to *only watch this one pre-alpha demo* and not pay attention to the following year of demos, trailers, dev interviews and hands-on gameplay sessions, not to mention the actual press reviews of the game, then frankly you can only blame yourself for being disappointed.

Did the devs make any statement prior to release that the mechanics shown in that presentation were cut from the game?

That footage I believe was shown as pre-alpha footage, which basically means that some or none of it may end up in the final game, and if that was shown in September 2013, that was around the time that they decided to include multiple races as playable, which may of meant the cutting some if not most the features that were shown in that footage.

The decision to extend to include multiple races was made well before then.

.....Well...yeah. Before I bought the game I checked to see if they made any mention of the features mentioned in that video...they didn't....and since they spent so much time going over what was available, I knew it'd been cut for whatever reason. Again...this is just like the person who got angry at DAO for not having Multilayer. If you aren't willing to do the research....or wait and make sure the very features you want are in the game then I don't see why I should be showing you any sympathy.

Something similar happened before ME 1...they showed that the games conversations would allow interrupts in the E3 2006 video....that didn't occur until ME 2 but I noted it's absence in the first game. It wasn't a deal breaker and it wasn't a reason to start complaining about false advertising.

I was not aware that the presentation had ever been shared with the public aside of a face to face demo audience and a couple of shaky phone camera recordings. So why should they announce cuts to content that was never announced?

I have been saying this all along.  The game that I actually bought is nothing like the game that Bioware's hype department sold to me, and that is one of the reasons I feel totally ripped off.

http://www.kotaku.co...-different-game

We did get the breaking ladder, you need the two handed skill >.> that just says the person that created this was WAYYY more focused on saying how the game is bad then actually playing it. Shame really.
