So I have my builds and my stories. Bioware removed my possibilities to have both and just shoved their builds and their stories down my throat.

And are you seriously talking about stats from passives? +3 something? While ONE STUPID HAT can have 18 from a given stat? 6 passives in A HAT. I won't even talk about weapons or armor because ti would become ridiculous.

The passive stats are rather significant throughout the game though, only being overshadowed by crafting towards the mid-game and late.

This is the opposite case of DAO, where looted drops always gave miniscule amounts of stats with character stats being inflated in comparison. The best gear had +2 to all attributes when your character had 70 strength from leveling up...

I remember reaching 142 STR on my DAO Warrior.... Adding stats past the 36 point requirement for the best abilities felt trivial at all times. More like a chore on level-up really.

Still I suppose this is a personal preference. Considering this is a new change in DAI, I can understand why you would feel upset at the development.

---

But silly builds aren't gone at all. In fact there are more variations than ever with the delimited and level-independent ability web.

In DAO you  followed a few distinct linear level-gated paths to gain your abilities, most of which you'd never use ( sustained abilities come to mind) and often didn't want.

It got better in DA2, but often you needed a lot of the tree (if not their upgrades) to access powerful abilities and abilities were still level-gated.

In DAI you can select any tree and progress through it at any point at time, allowing for very different builds even at early levels.

The only one that comes close is the Mage tree in DAO but that was arguably TOO versatile. They had to shave off some abilities and give them to warriors and rogues in the sequels to balance out class choices.

Ironically the ability limit in the UI adds to the potential builds because you have to actively choose what subset of abilities to use.

If anything DAI only increased choice in this regard. The only thing that's missing is limited weapons to classes, but I don't think that's going to change any time soon.

While I prefer Attributes to remain more on the PC, and not the items, this does not alter the fact that I knew about these changes at the time of purchase.

wow as much as I enjoyed DA:I this is definitely disappointing

sure it was never guaranteed to be in the game (only pre alpha footage I think) but why advertise the game like that and

then just cut soo many awesome things?

For like the millionth time: it wasn't advertised like this.

This is leaked footage. None of us should've seen it.

Because that pre-alpha demo wasn't advertised...

Dunno, but it can make for good mods. 'Cutting Room Floor' is one of the mods I have installed on Skyrim, and still does not cover all of the edited material that was removed from the game at launch. Some of it is cool stuff I enjoy seeing like extra farms, buildings, and dialogue, but at the same time, some of it seems better in Vanilla. Much like an extended feature of a film disk, it comes down to direction and production, I would guess.

Ha! This is NOTHING compared to the changes that Bioshock Infinite went through on its way to release.

Just take a look at the demo released in 2010:

A lot of the elements from the video made it into the actual game, but there is no actual sequence like that in all of Infinite.

And then there was the demo from 2011:

Again, a lot of that stuff is in the game, but again, there is no exact sequence like that. No euthanizing a horse, no saving a mailman from a mob. And I so wanted to see Elizabeth wearing an oversized Lincoln mask.

But y'know, I still enjoyed the end product. That's what ultimately matters.

Honestly, I think you need to realize the risks that preordering entails. As much as I love BioWare, they aren't known for their flawless releases. Even so, DAI has far fewer issues than DAO and DA2 had on release so credit needs to be given where it's due.

Driver software isn't BioWare's responsibility. You should take that up with Nvidia and AMD.

Also EA may control BioWare's purse strings, but the game you see is made by BioWare through and through. Using EAWare is insulting to the devs.

It makes for a nice distinction. Are you close to these developers to know it's insulting? If so, mind asking when patch 5 is coming?

Basic sense of civility. It's the same way you don't comment on your favorite music band's songs by mentioning their label. It's even worse for devs because they put years into making a game that you end up dismissing as a "product of an evil corporation". I mean... come on -_-

I would expect patch 5 to be out around the same time as the next DLC announcement. Within 2 months. Even so, I imagine the devs themselves don't have a date yet.

[Cut out YouTube videos]

I agree, my concern now is that we might seen even less of future games because of all this negativity towards this one sequence when it was clearly labeled "pre-alpha" and was only shown behind closed doors.

I disagree. This distinction is very defining to me. And since you don't know the developers... dang. I'm not here to start a fight. The game wasn't ready for PC use, even today. As far as the drivers are concerned, I thought they had to be tested before release... on a PC.

That might be for the better.

People get so carried away from a video that's only a fvew minutes long. They invent entire theories about what the game is going to be like, and this almost always leads to disappointment. And, obviously, even labeling things pre-alpha (that's BEFORE alpha, people...) makes no difference whatsoever.

All good. I suppose we're debating morality at this point and that's an eternal debate so it's technically pointless to do so on this forum :P

Ok! Thank you! Alright... you know... it is close to that timetable I mentioned before. As far as preordering goes... I did it out of loyalty to Bioware. I want them to succeed and I did it because I'm eager (so damn eager) to play their franchises. I love their franchises. When a developer says EAware is not appropriate, I will stop using it immediately.

Fair enough. I apologize for assuming you were using the term EAWare with an overly negative connotation regarding the developers rather than a distinction.

I'll tell you why, beacuse they haven't learnt that it's a company that's trying to sell a product and buy into the hype they create, or even worse hype it up even more in their head, creating an idea of a game that will never be more than just that, an idea.
Their lives lack any substance and get brutally dissapointed when reality dosen't live up to their fantasy, so they try to fill the void that the game was suposedto by hanging around forums whining endlessly about a game they hate instead of moving on and focusing on things they acually enjoy like a sane person would.

Sorry to be harsh but jesus ****** christ. If you bought the game and didn't like it, fine, DA:I isn't perfect and isn't for everyone, go on the forums and express your opinion. But to hang around for months on end doing nothing but complain about it... it's just sad.

It's just a VIDEOGAME for crying out loud! Just move on...

Personally I stay around to kill time waiting for fleets to form, or because TV sucks and this is more entertaining.

When will people learn that Bioware marketing tells you *nothing* about what the game is actually about?  Seriously, the marketing is to get the masses excited about the game.  It has 0 to do with giving accurate data to diehard loyalists who will buy it anyway.
