Being a Soldier I cover alot of weaknesses however I lack CC. Miranda is one of my go to squad members , shes like me we can cover weaknesses quickly plus she also has a neat perk on giving my squad a damage boost. However I don't know who should be my second squad member , right now I have Mordin in my squad and he's been doing pretty well. Mordin being able to just melt enemies armor away is very handy , however Idk I feel like I need another powerhouse or a CC squad member.

Mattock+Eviscerator+Widow+Phalanx, all the squad you'll ever need.

No really, crowd control is a nice thing, but why try to control crowds when you can kill them stupendously fast? I always ran with either Zaeed or Thane due to their massive weapon boni for their respective passive choices available. Pair them up with the Incisor SR and you won't even have to do much of the killing yourself.

In terms of CC adepts with throw and pull are great because of how quick their cooldowns are.

I think it depends a lot on what you are going for.

In terms of crowd control (CC), the Soldier's crowd control is all in its native ammo powers: Incendiary Ammo, Disruptor Ammo, Cryo Ammo. But having extra crowd control is nice.

That being said, I like extra crowd control, so I prefer Mordin and his Full Cryo Blast (with a 4.5 second cooldown), or Jack/Samara/Morinth with Pull.

Jacob + Miranda is a good combo. His Pull and her Unstable Warp have 9-second coolodowns, so you can shoot defenses off a group, then Pull Field > Unstable Warp.

Kasumi with Improved Flashbang can be good for preventing most enemies from firing at you while you shoot everything dead.

For about half the game though your second squadmate is forced on you for his or her loyalty mission.

I think a lot depends on your weapon set, including bonus weapon. If you are using the Widow or Mattock under Adrenaline Rush, then squadmates do not really matter since you are just melting everything anyway.

If I'm going as a soldier I usually go 1 biotic 1 tech but I don't usually have it as a strict rule though. I do normally have at least 1 though. I think my favourite partnership in ME is usually a Garrus & Tali sa I'm pretty deadly when I have those 2 on my flank. Whenever I feel I meed biotic firepower though Liara and Jack are often my go to girls especially Jack's Shockwave for dealing with husks. Love using that power in ME2 enjoy using the power myself when playing as an Adept/Vanguard

Really is personal preference, IMO.  Pick the two you like the most, even on insanity.

I would just suggest putting points into a CC power for each.  Then you Adrenaline Rush, pew pew pew, and when AR wears off, if anything is still alive but stripped of protections, check your squadmates' cooldowns and hit them with a power to knock them out of commission while you reload and wait for AR CD to come up again.  Repeat.

I like Garrus and Thane.  Everyone including my soldier with sniper rifles when possible.  But if anything gets close (or if I run out of sniper rifle ammo), I switch to assault rifle and strip shields/armor/barrier, then hit them with Concussive Shot or Throw.  I put them in cover at the rear, while I take point.  I take squad ammo powers to give everyone an ammo power, so my squadmates don't have to spend points there and can focus on maxing out their class talent and cc power.

I agree with Kerg. I think it's personal preference. Soldier is awesome enough to solo the game and I think they can manage regardless of their team. (I often just choose squaddies according to my mood. "Hm, I think I feel like hearing what Tali has to say on this mission." That sort of thing.) However, when it comes to combat, I love surrounding myself with biotics in all three games and my absolute favourite squaddies are Sentinel like classes. Miranda is definitely very useful because she has a little bit of tech and biotics. I think that the combo of Soldier and Sentinel is pretty deadly on its own. Personally, I like to throw another biotic in for the explosions and more hilarious ragdoll action. But that's just me anyway.

So, I guess I will put my 2 cents in here:

In my current Insanity Soldier run I have been favoring a Jacob/Miranda team for many of the missions. Jacob has a 9 second Pull while Miranda has a 9 second unstable Warp. So they are perfectly in sync.

here is an example of the Jacob/Miri duo on Thane's recruitment mission.

Spoiler

On Tali's recruitment I used a Garrus/Mordin combo: Garrus for stripping, Mordin for CC with Cryo Blast (and an occasional incinerate):

Spoiler

Against Collectors (Horizon/DCS/SM) I tend to favor bringing Kasumi along to use her Flashbang on Harbinger and for her Shadow Stirke. Either Miranda, Thane, or Mordin might end up as the second team mate, Thane/Miranda for Warp against barriers, Mordin for Cryo Blast and Incinerate.

My insanity Soldier playtrough was so easy that I didn't care much about companions. I took Jack everywhere because she was the LI. When equipped with the GPS and some Warp Ammo, she decimated barriers very quickly.

I do the same, but she's pretty useful for a soldier too. On a soldier, I tend to run with her and someone with overload. If I don't need that, another biotic is great too.

One area defense stripper plus area CC or two area defense strippers.

Vanillia Soldier (and with many bonus powers) is largely single target defense stripping or damage, so you aren't usually going to get the efficient warp bomb team you can get with many classes where you have one area defense stripper, one pull field, and one warp.  Many times I just go with Garrus and Miranda and let Inferno ammo do its work.

One Biotic and one Sniper.  I'm not any good or anything.

I would definitely take Thane. He seems that he fires his sniper rifle more often than Garrus. Plus his Warp and Throw are good for Biotic combos. Shredder ammo is pretty good too.

Garrus would be a good second squadmate oddly enough. He seems to be far more effective with a assault rifle, especially the Mattock, and Overload can take down shields to let Thane and his shredder ammo do their work.

Give Shepard Reave as a bonus power and not much is going to be stopping the trio.

The only time that I worried about my class/squad balance was ME1. But I suppose Miranda would be good to have. She's got warp for barriers and armor, and overload for shields.
