Galaxy Map more difficult than I imagined

I'm gonna have to dedicate some journal pages to a galaxy custom map so I know where things are.
For now, I have been saving, searching for where I want to go, and then re-loading to get to my destination without so much fuel costs.
BY the way. What's the penalty for running out of fuel. You just jump to the nearest system with a fuel/probe ship?

Of course, no one's forcing anyone to do them all.

Still quicker than all those crappy, super mountainous planets we had to run around on.
So true. After that scanning for minerals is practically fun.

keep tapping the left trigger until you see a spike.
You can just hold the left trigger down.
Scanning for minerals is weird. I've never known something to be so boring and addictive at the same time.

I like it. And the scanning.. lol, I was following the players on live streaming playthroughs who would just spend HOURS just scanning over planets, then I realized that I could use the scanner like a trigger and it works SO much faster. Depleted 4 planets within 10 minutes
Like a trigger? I've only done a few and each has taken well over 30 minutes. Extremely tedious.

Miranda's upgrade is hardly noticeable, and I've found two ways to scan.
1) Hold LT, press both thumbsticks to left or right, drop down a grid and a half or so, circle the planet, and repeat.
2) Same as above, but tap LT. Planet rotates faster when LT is not depressed, but seems likely to miss detection, especially of smaller spots.

Or maybe Joker should get off his lazy ass for once and scan the whole damn planet in one sweep like back in the good old days.
Yeah, Come On Joker. Help a Brothe out.

I find I'm too zoomed in, and with my 24" widescreen I would like to zoom out some.
Otherwise I have no issues.. Enjoying every min thus far! I got Grunt last night.
